This is a story of two young boys living in the city of Verona, Nicola and Jacopo. Once the narrator goes to Verona, there he meets these two boys, who very hard working, self-reliant, honest and excellent in their works, they do multiple jobs, and try to earn from every opportunity.
The narrator later begins to think “what these boys do with their money”, they neither spend much on their clothes or food, the boys try to keep this thing a secret.
Later in the end of the story, the narrator gets to know the real reason, behind the boys working so hard to earn money, and he is very impressed and deeply touched by the nobility of these boys.
