The boys fly up an iconic West Coast river valley in search some red stag roaring action. The hard yards getting into some truely remote country definitely pays off!

Good effort on even getting in there, that gorge is not nice. Shared Hankinson Hut with you guys and the other Pete in 2021 wap ballot, any luck with finding that bull? Good to see the classic old swandri also. Awesome old stag in magnificent country, one you won't forget. Roll on episode 2

Good video guys and a nice stag. I never get tired of the magnificent NZ scenery. Bit of a contrast to where I’ll be hunting camels in the West Aussie desert next week. Agree with the comment on the music. A bit dramatic and repetitive. Found your comments on food interesting and useful as I’ve never done a backpack hunt. Just got a couple of new knees and would like to do something similar to your hunt before I get too old.

Just a question.. Is it legal to shoot them in the water?? Not against hunting in any way. Just thought might not fair if that makes sense?

How do you rate the klymit sleeping mat mate ?
@DunedinSpearo2 жыл бұрын
Hi Marc It seems to be alright, light weight and pretty comfortable. Pete had one too but after two years of use the glue sealing up the outside started to degrade which meant a lot of leaks.

Bugga big beautiful stag going about its business-understand if it was about survival dude was so happy like he’d wrestled it bare hand when it’s really sneaky hiding crossing a river -I just don’t get it -but that’s it -they don’t get I’m vegetarian -what a sport they also say they are a pest -I don’t see them doing any damage-maybe the odd farmer’s fence
@powerjuicee Жыл бұрын
They are pests because of the damage they do the forest. deer, possums and pigs do huge amounts of damage to the New Zealand ecosystem. sometimes you do feel guilty shooting them but at the end of the day they are a nonnative invasive species and need to be killed.

Are Cervids native to NZ ?
@johnmead8437 Жыл бұрын
No. Only native mammals are bats, seals and marine mammals. Other species are ecological pests, serious in places for native species. Some also have values as game meat or recreational hunting. Causes much angst, particularly for those hunters who feel they own them and have problems actually shooting some. Even when the place is infested. For a period in the 1970s to 2000s many game animals were commercially recovered for game meat export which was lucrative enough to keep numbers down in many places. That is no longer the case and most YT hunting clips show decimated vegetation & forests due to deer, tahr, goats, pigs etc.

Awesome footage guys! Great hunting - great adventure - great wilderness - but really really TERRIBLE MUSIC! You try to capture good footage but you don´t let your audience be part of your experience with their ears. So many beautiful noises out there, birds voices , the river flow, wind in the leaves etc. Let your audience not only watch but listen to what you experience out there. No hardrock shit needed!

Too much repetitive music in this video, hunting videos don't need to be slammed with music all the time, would rather listen to the natural noises of the hunt and bush.

Thanks Joe, appreciate the feedback! We’ll work on it for part 2
