I've always thought Blackrock Mountain was cool, mainly in Vanilla. It's a gigantic stone stronghold so large that there are multiple unrelated factions based inside, each one spying on and trying to undermine the others. You've got Ragnaros in the basement, the Dark Irons in the city next-door, the Blackhand siblings in the Spire, and then Nefarian in Blackwing Lair. By modern wow, pretty much everyone has been cleared out by various bands of murder adventurers, except for the Dark Irons who have now joined the alliance. I presume the Dark Irons have reclaimed the rest of the mountain, so I guess they were the ones to 'win' in the end.

Its important to note that in the Rise of the Horde book (which is a great read) Rend and Maim were magically aged through warlock spells. It left them incredibly debilitated for weeks but when they came back to, they were unnecessarily cruel and vicious. They became vindictive and depraved, twisted by Fel and Nether magic. It was a very disgusting moment in the book, because they were just kids, growing up and doing kids stuff and then just twisted in every way imaginable by the order of Blackhand.

Man, this vid had quite a lot of puns in its! You could truly say that platinum is a *puny* mortal!

Is anyone else watching this and wondering... why the hell doesn’t blizzard make videos like this to actually help people learn about their game lmfao?? Seems like an easy way to get new people into the game if they made interesting back story videos...

It's interesting how the whole "Shamanism is similar to the Earth Warder's power" thing seemed to be a callback to Zuluhed's Dark Shamanism not working on the Dragon/Demon Soul and his need of a Warlock to use it in his place. So it wasn't a TOTAL asspull to have Thrall play Aspect-for-a-Day.

Rend and Maim were also some of the first orcs that the warlocks used Life Drain on to age-up (so they'd have more soldiers for fighting the draenei), so developmentally they're still teenagers at best.

We really need these for the Cataclysm stories too.

I really love the Blackrock. The Dungeons, the Raids, the Story, the Zones around it, everything is just perfect. And for me, even in 2020, still a Masterpiece from Blizzard.

I know i would sound boring, but there are few incorrect pieces of lore in here: - After Lothar fell, Doomhammer was defeated by sir Thuralion. Not some bunch of punk-ass alliance infantry :D - Those emissaries from draenor were no other than Theron Gorefiend and Thagar Spinebreaker. And when the parlay didn't go as planned, they were offered aid not by Nefarian, but by Deathwing himself. The Draenor horde were offered aid, not the dark one. Nefarian and Onyxia were merely sent by Deathwing to subjugate the dark horde clans, once conversation between Gorefiend and Deathwing was finished. Why would Deathwing want to help em, you ask? He had plan of bringing the eggs of black dragon flight into draenor, and thus having 2 worlds conquered, not just Azeroth. So he offered help of black dragons flight in exchange for free pass for some "cargo" - which happened later. Source - "Beyond the Dark Portal" by Aaron Rosenberg and Christie Golden.

The whole blackrock progression was just amazing to experience back then. Just stepping into UBRS was awesome, fighting rend and having nefarian teased on the balcony…and then finally going into BWL at the mountain peak. Felt so epic!

My favorite bad pun from Classic WoW was logging in and seeing that the Guild Message of the Day was "Whackbling Lair raid tonight". This is the same GM who referred us learning the 4 Emerald Nightmare green dragons as doing "whirled boss" attempts. Ahh, nostalgia.

Classic wow sounds awesome but I could never survive. I’m thankful to have grown up with the pampered more streamlined wow. But I can definitely see how back then even if you weren’t an RPer WoW still made you go an epic adventures and get immersed in the world in a way that’s really interesting and challenging
