Two Maxon Automated Side Load Garbage Trucks

Been a while since I've posted video of some of my favorite trucks, so I figured it was a good time to do so. Here we have 2 Maxon Legal One ASL's with the always fun to watch Sunbelt arm fitted to them. The first is a Volvo running the recycling route in Rialto, then next is an older WhiteGMC on Green Waste in Fontana. The WhiteGMC may be retired by now, as I believe it was a spare at the time I filmed it. You'll also see an early 90's Amrep in the video, but it was pretty slow so we didn't film it more than what you see in this video. It did make for some neat shots though where both trucks were collecting simultaneously in the distance.

Great video! That arm was really nice, fast, and smooth. It's a bummer that there is become less and less of these trucks on the road.

There's something extra cool about ASLs based on front load bodies, whether it's a converted Amrep like EJ Harrison's, a Stagg, Gomez, or one of these, especially when they retain some semblance of a cabshield. Not much else to add about the Sunbelt that hasn't been said already, a really fun arm to watch. Really like the shot at 5:48 with both trucks in the distance. Awesome vid!

Now this is one hell of a truck! Always enjoyed the speed of a Sunbelt arm, that WHITEGMC Maxon is freaking sexy! Hahah. Also, would you be able to message me the info on those Maxon's I am heading back to SoCal with in a month or so, would love to see/document one of these, before there is none left. That would greatly be appreciated. Awesome video! Enjoyed every minute of it

Great video! That first Maxon is pretty fast. I wonder why the Amrep was working so slowly. They're usually pretty fast.

Hell yeh I haven't seen one of these in action for ages! Almost completely forgot about this arm, love how the whole assembly unfolds to reach a bin... imagine the reach potential if it unfolded completely :O Enjoyed those moments of double action about halfway through, Amrep was no match speed wise. So these Maxon bodies are basically the exact same on both the FLs and SLs considering they're both called the "Legal One" (any explanation behind the name too?)? Love the sound of the old recycling truck in particular from 2:17. I swear these sunbelt arms look a whole lot bigger than the Amrep ones too, might just be me but.

Awesome video! I noticed so many cool things about Maxon ASLs in this video that makes me want to see one in person soon haha like at the shot at 1:15, the arm looks really cool extended out like that. The driver of that truck is very professional, knows his way around a Maxon lol Great to see that it lid flips as well. 2:58 was also a really cool shot. Looks like nice whether to be filming in those clips lol And wow WhiteGMC Maxon those are cool. Gotta love seeing a WhiteGMC still around. Seeing the two trucks at 5:06 makes me really miss seeing ribbed trucks around. Not too many out in my area anymore :( Great video!!

Glad you enjoyed it! If you want to see a Maxon, you better get to doing so fast. I know a couple routes for them, but theyre replacing them faster than I care to admit. If you seriously plan to go find one, let me know and I can give you info on where to look. But they wont be around for long.

The arms on those trucks may be a little rackety but they do move fast (compared to that turtle of an Amrep) so no big deal. For sure this one's heading to the faves. Do they still take the front loaders out for green waste in Rialto or is it all ASL now?

The CNG Amrp Octo you see in the background somewhere though the video is collecting greenwaste. Rialto has been automated for a good amount of time now. I agree, the Sunbelt arms are pretty good arms for their time. And when they were new they were probably far more stable too. 15+ years of being slammed around and you have to expect them to get a bit loose haha Just a shame that the ones Gomez made were wobbly from day 1. They are and always will be one of my favorite arms to watch. I think they had great potential if slightly altered in design but sadly the concept was ditched all together.
