This is one of my favorites, it's a shame you didn't like it. It is based on the Franklin expedition to find the northwest passage in 1845. They got lost in the Arctic & froze to death. In the 1980's, they found the remains of the expedition & exhumed some of the crewmen who were buried. They were perfectly preserved from being frozen, hence the line "preserved in time for all to see." It's a really interesting story & a great song if you know what it's about. When I first heard this song, it didn't really grab me either, but over time I began to appreciate it and now it's one of my top faves. This one is more about the profound lyrics than a lot of flashy musical showboating - although, the guitar solo is pretty emotive.

"Somewhere In Time" is one of my favorite albums with some of the best Maiden's written.

Ladies, I know u like Pantera, so I want to recommend a really, really, really heavy song of Pantera's. I'll Cast a Shadow, it is off the album Reinventing the Steel. It was Pantera's last full album. There are other songs off this album that are good, but this song is so mage heavy. I hope others will agree, it is really heavy!

Ladies, some fun facts. Bruce Dickinson, the lead singer, is, or was, a trained pilot and he flew for a small air line in Europe, I forget the name of it now. They did a huge world wide tour back in the 90s/early 2ks and he asked his bosses for the loan of a plane so they could transport their gear. They said sure and decorated it with Iron Maiden livery (Eddie and stuff from their album covers). After the tour, they continued to fly that plane for a while because who wouldn't want to fly in the Iron Maiden plane? LOL. Turns out, superstitious Africans, I forget which country, thought it was haunted, so they wouldn't board, so the air line stopped flying that plane. :-( Oh yeah, when on that tour, if fans were in a nearby city and couldn't get to the venue, Bruce would fly the plane over to their city to pick them up and bring them to their concert.

I started listening to Iron Maiden in the early '80s (I grew up in Europe) and this was a little too "radio-friendly" and "safe" for me. It felt like they put it on the album just to fill space. Every artist has a couple of those on every release. Anyway, cheers from the (still very) hot and sunny beaches of Florida.

I was hoping to see you guys to another Iron Maiden one. I think that’s kinda cool you picked one based on its title. I understand how you feel about it because this song took time to grow on me. Stranger In A Strange Land isn’t one of my favorite Iron Maiden songs to listen to in general, but it’s one of my favorite Iron Maiden songs to sing along to while listening, the verses are kinda fun to sing in my opinion. - As far as any other recommendations, maybe try the song Dance Of Death with the lyrics, it’s pretty ambitious, it takes a few exciting turns, and the story is pretty easy to follow along with. Or you could try the song Empire Of The Clouds from their most recent album. It’s a very long song, but it’s an epic song and definitely takes you for a ride. It’s based on a true story, there’s an excellent lyric video on KZfaq that fills in the backstory on the screen during the instrumental sections of the song and it includes real pictures taken from the incident. There’s other good ones, those are just two I felt like suggesting, but I’m sure what ever you guys decide to next will be good too.
