My favorite line of this song is "the child has grown, the dream is gone". You will get it when you get a little older. When you do "Time", listen to the studio version and please have the lyrics ready. The lyrics are the star of the song. You guys did a great job.

“The child is grown, The dream is gone” The line above, right before one of the greatest solos EVER, explains Comfortable Numb.... “Can anybody hear me” is the inner child dying & screaming out alone in an adult body & adult mind, nobody adult can hearing the pain.... As a child, you never give up on anything that means something important to you, an adult tells you to stop but you do not listen as if the adult is speaking a language you do not understand, the language being “give up”, nonstop waves of “give up”.... You become an adult, now you are just part of the brain washed adult heard, “adults only do this, adults only do that, that is childish”, you follow with no push back nor questions asked, you’re just “okay, will do, no problem”, now you’re Comfortable Numb.... “Feel a little pin prick” & every lyric after is showing that adults need something injected or taking for energy & “life”, as a child you wake up energize naturally”, no drug required to “live”....

"The lyrics were inspired by Waters's (the bass player)experience of being injected with tranquillizers for stomach cramps before a Pink Floyd show in Philadelphia on the 1977 In the Flesh Tour. "That was the longest two hours of my life," Waters said, "trying to do a show when you can hardly lift your arm. The song had the working title "The Doctor"." This was taken from Wikipedia.

@@swinetrek lol.... ummm, nope. When they came back to the studio, according to Gilmour, waters had 2 albums almost all done. The Wall, and pros and cons of hitchiking. David made musical changes to the song, and what appears on the album was smashed together. The lyrics are soley 100% waters experience from philly in 1977.... this is from multiple documentaries.

@@fotini2475 Nice. Yeah it was so frkkin cool. Funny story behind mine as I very nearly didn't make it. Ex stole my tickets when we broke up. As I was the big fan my sister gave me hers. Got talking to the two Scousers next to me, me a Londoner, and described who they got their tickets and who they bought them off. Their faces. They freaked out. I laughed and told them and they felt so sorry and said 'what a beyatch'. When they were couple songs into Dark Side I said to my brother 'You know I think they are going to play the whole album?' I know this song since '79 - I was 20 at this time - I always feel the same emotion when listening to it ! Tears are never far, I am so much touched by this guitar solo... That PULSE live version is even better with a very long 2nd solo, David Gilmour took the time to buid it, and your emotion goes higher and higher... as he plugs his guitar directly to your soul.... And i always loved David's warm voice ! Dom, a 62 years old fan from France

I was one of the lucky people that was at this specific concert ( Pulse ). I was actually at several of their concerts. That guitar solo was so epic that everyone in the audience was in awe. Even in the parking lot after the concert, we were still in awe from what we just experienced. It was an experience that I will never forget. All of their concerts were like that ( huge audiences ). David Gilmour ( lead guitarist ) has a way of making you feel so many emotions from his playing his guitar.. Every show they have done was always sold out in a matter of minutes ( literally ).

One of the all-time best bands, of any genre. Most of Pink Floyd's albums are concept albums and meant to be listened to from beginning to end, as one song flows into another. Your best bet would be to listen to the entire Dark Side of the Moon album ( it's less than an hour) & then maybe break it up into multiple videos if need be. Great reaction! Welcome to the world of PF. There's no going back now! 😉

So in a interview in 1980 Gilmour said "The main theme is the distance between our minds and the perception of reality because of artificial relief. In other words, we may not suffer, but that does not make us alive; escaping from life and its problems actually deprives us of something. This is the meaning of the song: life is out there; I prefer to face it and let it hurt me, than lose all sense of feeling."

The song is about an experience the bass guitarist had when he was sick before the show and they shot him up with drugs so he could perform for the show that night

The song was inspired by a prescription drug experience before one of their shows. The album The Wall that this song comes from is about a mans decent in to madness. Their is also a Pink Floyd movie called The Wall.

I really like you two Ladies but I HAVE TO SAY that the difference ( I'm 66 ) between "most" Males and "most" Female friends is staggering when one of them ( the knowledgeable Lady on the left ) KNOWS her friend is wrong and finally AGREES (lol ) that she should pause it. That was totally UNNECESSARY as you had already paused 5 times before, which is the most pauses I have seen watching 18 different reactors to this ). As the Lady on the left knows you HAVE to respect the solo as it builds and gains momentum until it reaches its climax but that pause completely broke all the flow and continuity that was growing. Ironically I was LOVING the Lady on the right admiring THe Stage Show which the other Lady almost totally missed. Good Luck but you would not have Copyright problems after 5 pauses. There were never more than 2 pauses in the other 17 reactions. Good Luck :)

@Two Sisters React: Welcome to the sublimity that is Pink Floyd. I was lucky enough to see a similar performance live, also in 1994, but on the Rotterdam leg of the tour. It was the same stage, same everything, and also an amazing performance of this song. Every time I see this video - and I play it a lot on KZfaq, which is how I eventually got to your video - it brings me back to that 1994 concert. I am truly amazed that young people like you are getting to know Pink Floyd. Now, if you want to react to another song..... There is a song called "Echoes". It was one of the earlier songs done by Pink Floyd, and there is a version that was done in Pompeii in the early 1970s, but there is also a version done by David Gilmour on his solo tour in Gdansk. And it THAT version that I think is so perfect and excellent. Be prepared though: The song alone is 25 minutes, so your reaction video might be an hour! :D See here: (249) David Gilmour - Echoes (Live In Gdańsk) - KZfaq

You cannot fully understand the meaning of those lyrics without listening to the "The Wall" album in its entirety and paying attention to lyrics. It's a concept album. :-)

In an interview released in the 80s, Waters (bass player), said that much of the song comes from something that really happened one evening when, in order to allow him to perform in Philadelphia, the doctor gave him a sedative for a severe stomach ache, which had probably caused by nerves. On the stage, his hands were numb (My hands felt just like two balloons) and his vision blurred, (A distant ship, smoke on the horizon), but none of this derailed the crowd, who continued to dance and sing. And it was out of this that one of the main themes of album came about: the disconnect between the public and the band. “That was the longest two hours of my life, trying to do a show when you can hardly lift your arm.”

Back then, Pink Floyd filled the Earls Court seven times within 14 days always with a day off to check the gigantic equipment and I saw this concert in 1994 in Cologne's soccer stadium, together with 75,000 fans. With my 58 years now I have been to dozens of partly very big concert events but what I was able to experience in Cologne has beaten everything. At that time a good friend of mine lived about 500m as the crow flies and could see the arena directly from his balcony. He told me later, when the block with the encores: Wish you where here, Comfortably Numb and especially Run like hell - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fZiebMJy0qq4oY0.html, was played, the whole stadium looked from the outside like the colorful glittering spaceship at the end of Spielberg's "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" after landing, because the light show could of course be seen from the outside through the distances between lower, middle and upper stand. Until then, Genesis were the absolute specialists for composed light shows for me. After 2 hours of watching and hearing it was clear to me that there is probably no more or better. And of course the overall experience of light and sound is inextricably linked. For example, when the sphere was still closed, it rotated and turned the stadium into a huge disco by the spotlights directed at it. When it opened, lasers were directed at it from various positions, reflected by the mirrors on it, which in turn were reflected back by mirrors fixed around the stadium roof and other mirrors distributed around the stadium near the ground, creating indescribable effects. You can't see this on the concert video because they made these setups only in stadiums and really must have been there because it's literally indescribable ! In the preannouncement of the concert it was promised that, regardless of where one´s position in the stadium is, listen to at least stereo if not even quatro. They implemented this advertising promise in such a comprehensive and impressive way that I will never forget this bombastic sound experience together with this indescribable light show. And to this day, when I hear this piece, especially during the guitar solo i get goose bumps all over my body and it leads me to another dimension ! EVERYTIME ❗️❗️❗️👍 Another perfect combination of music and light - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/sJNhZN2gu9Ssg4U.html
