For extra storage in the bedroom, y'all could make one of those wooden bed frames that has the pull out drawers on the side(s)

If y’all built a loft above the living room and walled it off but have an access you can use it for storage and give the living room a cozy feeling because the ceiling is lower and not vaulted. Also the wall above can be an accent wall

No where done on our 500sq feet build. But moved in anyway. Lol. With the electric prices being what it is were looking into Solar power lights and a small jackery for Tv and cell phones and things. Just to take off some of the load. Hope you finish the project soon. Love from Oklahoma.

The best tiny house I have seen had a bed around loft area with a way to lower and raise! Underneath the bed when it is raised was a sitting area that could be made into a spare bed if you had company!! The bed was on a motor so to raise and lower you push a button! So you really add another living space under the bed !! BEST IDEA TO ADD SPACE WHILE INCORPORATING A MOBILE BED! Good Luck guys!! Blessings,Laura

I would use up some of that ceiling space with a loft for storage. Going to look nice when finished. Cant wait to see another video of all the guys back diving again or some adventure.

Don't forget, dark colors make a room look smaller. You could use the dark colors you love on accent pieces like bedding, pillows, throw rugs, small appliances, chairs, curtains, etc., instead of on walls, cabinetry & large furniture. Dark colors are also harder to keep clean. You could do the classic black & white tile flooring also, if you enjoy black. With so much lighting, you may want to control the brightness in the bedroom/livingroom area. Bright lighting is good in the kitchen, though. Especially if you're going with black cabinets. I've been keeping up on & learning Interior Design since the 80's. Since Yappy doesn't read, Kensey should buy some Interior Design magazines or visit some sites to get some ideas that you may like. You're doing a great job, so far. Living in a tiny home while building your dream home is an excellent idea. It's all going to be worth it in the end. Love you both! 👍❤️

I’ve seen a lot of tiny houses have storage in the stairs. Each stair has a drawer for storage. I’m wanting to live in a tiny home too some day. Looking forward to more tiny home updates

Idea for your clothes storage cupboards, use kitchen style frames inside you can put in the cupboards you can pull out/down/up, similar are available for wardrobes, wouldn't really matter as long as they work for your space. It Will help you access these small low cupboards without having to go digging on the floor/ at the back & add lighting when cupboards open. Excited to see what you do with your lovely new home 🏡

Look into having a Murphy bed built in, and maybe have it include a pull out that can be used as a desk or table when the bed is folded up.

Maybe drop the ceiling a couple feet and have overhead storage in the space between the ceiling and the roof. Like an attic

Have you thought about a hide a bed couch? They make really nice comfy ones now and it would give you guys a lot more room for storage or even a small café table to eat off of.

My brother did a really cool design where in the kitchen when he was putting the cabinets together he installed draws in place of the toe kicks. Just easily kick toe boards and whole draw slides out. If he never said anything about it I would have never known. Big time space saver.

Looking great guys!! Can you add cubby boxes/drawers into each stair riser? You can store lots in those. Armoire with clothing rack poles inside are great. A long hidaway tv unit at foot of bed for more cozy viewing. Adding long shelves along the border of ceiling (or lower or two rows) for storage & displaying books, photos, supplies, knickknacks etc. Can you screen in the carport area for an outside living space? If you can get out of your lease get a a pod or another trailer (and then sell it once you move in) and put your stuff in it on the property.

One little thing I discovered is that when you have a tiny space, if you use dark colors, it makes the space feel even smaller.

Black makes a room look small For the cabinetry maybe do a white with black trim so it doesn’t look so small and confiding

My advice would be to look at some of the videos of the tiniest apartments in New York City. There is a lot of good ideas for storage in those videos. As far as the black cabinet idea, it will look good either way, but white cabinets open the room up and make it look bigger. Also maybe look into building a Murphy bed so you have more floor space when you aren’t sleeping.

A good idea is to Have dimmer controls on your can lights. If they're too bright that's not good.

What about a platform bed with drawers underneath to hold clothes. Drawers built into the steps can hold shoes, mitts, hats, etc. sliding doors on the storage areas around the base of upstairs will make access easier. Like the idea of loft storage to utilize the peak space. Also agree with light colours everywhere as the light bounces off and makes your space feel big and open.

Put your kitchen down stairs. No dark colors. Dark colors make things smaller. Light and bright colors make thing bigger. By Putting the kitchen down stairs you will have more room upstairs take painter tape mark off where things will go on the floor. This will tell you how small going to be. Your cabinet make them pull out then it easier to find thing. You can raise your bed. Then put draws under they. This will give you places to storage winter stuff. I even used the stairs as a book shelf. You can do the same under couch. .

Any dead space is usable in someway. I would also advise on using sliding drawers in them to make them easily accessible.

Y'all should look into one of those raised beds that has all the drawers under it for clothing. Killing two birds with one stone. You get a bed and a dresser saving space! Overall the place is looking great!

I just built a house 2 years ago and something I am so glad I did is power outlets with USB ports for charging devices. Especially on bar/countertop areas and beside the bed. They keep the outlets avail without tying up the plugs with a charging block or similar. Also you'll be glad you did the spray foam upstairs. Keep your paint/cabinets light and bright and it will make it feel bigger. For storage I used CLEAR plastic totes. It's handy to be able to see through them instead of having to remove the lid on every one when looking for something. We also got different colored handles on the totes so each person has their own color also making it simpler to organize. Also don't forget totes to go under the bed too. Also POCKET DOORS are a good space saver. You can put racks/shelves in the carport area up high but make sure it's things that can handle the elements. Use every bit of space you can even the inside of closet/cabinet doors. Barns doors are cool and strong wi-fi a must for your electronics/security system. I hardwired each room and where there was going to be a tv and made a small media area in the pantry with a modem/switch and power outlet. I would definitely!!!! heat the floor in the downstairs bathroom - I hate cold floors in winter and I'm in TN. Anything that folds up out of the way when you are not using it will be a big help too, like desks/tables. Good Luck, Guys! Oh, I almost forgot - a couple of small skylights in there would be amazing too.

Get the HVAC vent moved now before any more work is done. You don't want it behind the TV cabinet. You can move it more toward the middle of the space, or perhaps even onto the end wall.

Dark colors make your space look smaller. You should do maybe cream color cabinets or another light color for the kitchen. Big mirrors in the right place can also make your space look bigger. Check into Marine storage. The storage on boats is well known to be innovative and creative in finding places to stow goods. Also, moving is a great time to really look at your stuff and decide what you use all the time and things that you have not used or do not use so they can be sold online or donated or trashed. I have a rule for myself that nothing new comes in unless something goes out. Good luck in your build and your future life.

One more benefit of the spray foam insulation is it's a moisture barrier. So if your roof ever leaked it cannot penetrate the spray foam insulation. It won't be able to damage your interior ceiling.

We will be building a tiny home for a buddy of mine this summer. Instead of Sheetrock we’ll be using tongue and groove pine for the interior. The exterior will be board and baton.

If u want the tiny home to look big u should go with white or grayish color. Light colors make anything look big and if you guys like high beds u could use the free space underneath ur bed as storage or drawers for ur clothes

If I were y’all, I would get a bed that has the drawers built into the bottom of it. There’s some that don’t look bulky and ugly, so your room can still look nice!

You're going to need some ceiling fans to help with air circulation since your vents are so close to the floor !!

I only have two pieces of advice. First, lighter colors make a room seem bigger. (White, grey, etc. ) Second, I don’t no if you are planning on haveing a wood or tile floor but the smaller the wood plank or tile the bigger a space will seem. I love watching your guys tiny house videos, keep it up!

Make sure your cabinets go as high as you can and make sure to watch you tube videos of people that live in vans. They have some amazing ideas of how to use every single inch of space

Looking great!! On storage, are you able to use space under your stairs for storage? Or, have small cubby holes inset into stairway walls for storage. I know y’all said you like black kitchen cabinets…but white will make your place look bigger. I’m in middle of a kitchen redo and have had them put under cabinet lighting in (LED strips) - game changer!!! Good luck!!

If you run out of places for storage inside you can always put a storage shed outside behind your house so it can't be seen from the main house.

They sell vent extenders to go under furniture like beds and couches. They extend the vent on air out. Assuming it’s forced hot air.

I like seeing the house and it's giving me a ideas for my house building.

The square footage doesn't count the height, there are lots of creative ways to use the space up high. Shelves can add storage. Also, drawers built into a bed frame, or even a custom sofa, that has storage built in under the seats.. Looks amazing guys!

I know everybody does spray foam but just to give you a heads up take a chunk of that spray foam bring it outside light it up I will give you an idea how fast that stuff goes up in flames it's not to scare you it's to give you an idea of how much stuff to store in certain areas without a combustion in heat take care as always peace lol

Why not enclose the bottom part of the building? It would double your space.

Use your bed as storage space as well closing up your carport to add storage space

My fiance and I are building basically the same exact kind of tiny home you guys are building. Its a mother in-law kind of room above my dad's shop and then added a 20x20 building onto the end for the kitchen, laundry room, and bathroom. We were also very worried about storage and where we were going to put things. We decided that building a loft kind of area for storage and then building a shed was going to be the best option for us and for all of our toys/ extra random things/ hunting stuff etc. that doesn't belong in the house to go.

To solve the tv for the bed and add storage you could get like a hope chest and add a TV stand to the back side of it facing the bed at the foot of it. You would see the back tv when in the living area but who cares.

Get a rotating ceiling mount for the tv so you can turn it anyway you want it for where ever you are in the house

Lack or dark cabinets will make the space look smaller. Go with white cabinets with black hinges. Just a suggestion.

Make the bedroom a separate room so you have privacy and ontop of the room you can use that as a loft/storage.

If there are stairs I’ve seen where you can put drawers or closet space that pulls out under the stairs!
