Two strokes are good for light load small machines like motorcycles but not good for large machines like trucks or cars 2-stroke has very little torque high RPM 4-stroke has more torque less RPM

Because the 2-stroke engine requires scavenging of the exhaust gases from the cylinder there tends to be inefficiencies especially when varying the revs. If the engine is required to maintain constant speed, 2 stroke eff is much better than when varying the speed all the time. 4-stroke doesn't have these limitations so more efficient. Edit: in fact when designing/tuning the 2-stroke exhaust you take into account the pressure waves in the exhaust system to help draw out the exhaust gases as well as to keep the fresh fuel/air mix from escaping into the exhaust manafold. That's called a tuned exhaust & will work at a predetermined rev power band.

2stroke engine donot need oil-pan, and best for jet-ski and motocros, since there's no oil pan,it does not require a steady upright positiining, while the 4stroke needs oil-pan, or oil reservoir, so it cannot be operated upside-down

usually because oil is mixed with the gasoline in a 2-stroke, I'm not sure what the technical reason is for this though

@@ronal8824because of the design of the engine, instead of having oil flow through the engine because of the port below the piston that lets gas in it would let oil in too causing too much and the engine would not function properly, if you have a small amount (40:1) and you mix it with the gas you can have a adequate amount of oil lubricating the engine with the minus being more pollution and less reliability

No, I've a decent enough amount of experience with engines, a 2 stroke has all 4 strokes, intake, compression, power, exhaust. The main difference being compression/intake and power/exhaust happen at the same time. Someone can correct me tho

for anybody without the involved knowledge, a four stroke is more emissions friendly and has four distinct strokes in its cycle; intake: the cylinder takes in air and fuel. like a syringe, the piston moves downward in the chamber using vacuum to pull in the mixture. the intake valve is open and lets air in. compression: the intake valve closes and the piston travels back up into the cylinder, compressing the mixture. power: the spark plug fires or the compression causes the mixture to combust. the piston travels back down as a result of the exploding gases. exhaust: the exhaust valve opens and the upward travel of the piston forces the burnt gases out of the engine so the cycle can repeat. this is a bit of an oversimplification, but a two stroke engine combines the intake stroke with the exhaust stroke, meaning that to complete a power cycle the engine only has to do two strokes. this means two stroke engines are generally lighter and more efficient at the cost of higher emissions and oil consumption.

Both are only one stroke, both are four cycles. The upper one requires two strokes to complete a slower but powerful operation. The lower one, in one stroke, produces a faster, less powerful operation. (And, the Engineer Otto, only baptized the process as : four cycle engine. The person who did the discovery was an Auto Mechanic).

Yep there can be 2-stroke inline 4s and V-8s and anything else just like a 4-stroke (and they don't all look like this cutaway). Even your choice of diesel or gas designs. I recommend looking up the Detroit Diesel 2-stroke truck engines from decades ago. Highly imperfect but interesting and charming.

Well that is certainly not a classical 2 stroke. It is rather a 1 stroke, because it fires on exactly every single compression. It is efficient however, especially since there are conventional valves either.

A stroke is the piston moving along the height of its travel. In either direction. The number of strokes an engine is called is how many strokes happen for every single ignition event. It's 4 and 2 here.

Fuel efficiency - 4 stroke wins easily. But a key advantage of 2 stroke is lightweight and the ability to operate at any angle, even upside down. Hence car engines are 4 stroke while 2 stroke engines are what's normally used in chainsaws, post hole diggers, cut-off saws, line trimmers and other tools where the reduced weight and ability to be used at any angle are important considerations.

2-stokes are just not reliable enough to be driven on the street, or any kind of a distance for that matter. But besides the ridiculous amounts of emissions they expell there still ok for things like lawnmowers, weed whips, leaf blowers, chainsaws, and motorcycles that merely go around in circles out in the back 40.

Makes sense, if you want it to be able to idle decently slowly. I guess lawnmowers get away with decent idle speed since the blade acts like a flywheel, but leafblowers and chainsaws are still usually 2-stroke maybe for that reason? Plus bc they're handheld so light weight is important

It's definitely more size and weight efficient for a given desired power. Less complex too which is great. Somehow they turn out to be less energy efficient though, and with worse emissions too.

فقط توضیح نداده چطوری روغنو ایزوله میکنه که بالای سلیندر نره! و یا در عمل دود حاصل از احتراق در بالای سیلندر محبوس میشه و تخیله نمیشه!

Nah. Needs so much oil. Unreliable and kinda polluted. 1/4 of the fuel comes out from the exhaust. Not so practical. It’s better with 4 stroke

Well in Indonesia mostly being used for motorcycles drag racing, because of the engine power to weight ratio, but yeah it's not the best for daily use.
