Two Thin Coats are back! Wave 3 has been announced at last, and it's coming to Kickstarter with 60 new paints. In today's video we are looking at what's coming in Wave 3.
Once again its 60 new paints, and these will be split across 36 new colours, 6 brights, 12 new metallics, 4 washes and 2 new effects paints which are actually varnishes.

Glad there's some coloured metallics on the way, I really miss the old GW colours. They also doubled as great nail varnish. 😆

Haha that’s a good second use! Yeah I noticed there’s a ‘Bitz O Tin’ so if it’s anything like the old Tin Bitz I’ll be happy.

The Two Thin Coats paints are fantastic. I love the triad system. I’ve got wave 1 & 2. They’re very handy. The colored metallics are very interesting.

My local store just got the wave1,2 so I thought id try and I fell in love with them, ill be definitely gettingon this kickstarter i dont want to miss this one

I've got wave 1 and wave 2 and soon wave 3 ......looking forward , I hope they have the paint rack for it as I've got those for wave 1 and 2.......I can't imagine they wouldn't

Yeah I’m pretty sure Sarissa will be doing another paint rack - it will likely be one of the options to choose on Kickstarter when it goes live on the 20th.

I have Wave 1 & 2 (from KS)…use them either exclusively on model or mix and match with other paint brands. I do like them a lot. I have thinned them for air brush. I was hoping they would start airbrush line….but they are staying in their lane.

My guess for Wave 4, if there is one, will be effects (rust, blood, slime etc) and some kind of equivalent to Contrast paints

The question is, how many kick starter waves will they use? I am using these paints, scale 75, and AK Interactive coupled with pro acryl. I am ditching all the gw paints I can… I don’t like pots

This randomly came up in my feed today. I am looking to get back into mini painting but unsure which paints to go for. Previously used a mix of kimera, p3, citadel and was thinking about what to go with. Vallejo stands out as a good base of quality/cost, but I do like triad systems, however most don’t have enough separation. Think I will get some base Vallejo followed by some specific triads to try these. How much do they need thinning?

Vallejo are always a safe bet, although not quite as pigmented. These don’t need too much thinning, just a normal amount I’d say, whereas with citadel you tend to need a bit more as they soon get gloopy. There’s a review of the Wave 2 paints on my channel, and also Stahly from Tale of Painters does excellent paint reviews on his blog and KZfaq. Another range to look out for is Warpaints Fanatic by Army Painter, that’s a new range coming that looks to be very similar to Two Thin Coats, and replacing the current Army Painter Warpaints range which are poor. ProAcryl are also nice too, worth a look although not as much choice, but their Bold Titanium White is incredible. Hope this helps

@@hobbywaffle Great, yeah I have never used vallejo, and always been wary of army painter due to their reputation of being ok for doing lots fast, but not great in terms of pure quality. My thinking was to use the vallejos as a base set for colours I don't use much, pick up some triads for the main colours I want to use on models, and then some other stuff like some contrasts to try out. I want to try a variety of styles to see which I enjoy. I am not likely to be painting big armies to play, etc, so can concentrate on enjoying the painting for the art of it (which is what I did going all the way back to the first citadel adventurers set!). I did have a bunch of figures I painted in a comic book style which I really enjoyed, but getting nice split colours was always hard as you want strong, saturated, bright, heavy pigmented colours for that, and I ended up using Kimera with acrylic matte base to make my own. However I really like the colours and saturation of these paints, which is what attracts me to them.

@@learntooilpaint Sounds like a good plan, and GW contrast paints are great for adding a new dimension to painting. I’ve not tried the Vallejo express colours, but they are supposed to be decent. The Army Painter Speedpaint I’ve found to be hit and miss, and they had to release Speedpaint 2.0 as they went too fast and the first ones were quite rubbish and re-activated.

I’m in the US and we’ve had access to only wave one for quite a while, and I’ve been dying for wave two to release since wave one has a lot of colors that seem a little muted. First, they said, wave two was going to show up in the US in Q1 now it sounds like it’s pushed out to Q2
