Excellent explanatory video James. I just bought the TTS 20 pro and haven't used it yet. I would like to know from the tests you carried out on 3mm wood what are the ideal parameters for this machine in terms of cutting and engraving, as you carried out two engraving tests on wood.

Hi... I'm looking for a laser cutter machine to cut golden acrilic sheets, about 3mm. Do you know if this TTS-20 can cut colorful acrylics or transparent ones? Thanks for your help!

They just keep getting better, and at a lower cost, too. The owl you did for the last one was a great stainless test image. It would be nice if you used that for this one for a better comparison. Thanks for the great reviews.

I considered it, but with this laser using very different settings and me being colour blind and pressed for time that night, I would've butchered it if I'd attempted to change the layer parameters.

can you make a video, or point me to a video that explains what to do once it's set up? I'm a total newbie to this. I have it put together, I've downloaded lightburn and connected it to my laptop but there is so much I still haven't figured out. For instance, there is a little micro memory card, does it go in my computer or in the slot on the power supply for the laser, if the frame isn't square, how do I fix that- my laser arm will not stay parallel and I've done the loosening and tightening of the screw. how do I center the laser on the crumb tray so it cuts or engraves where I want it too. I've looked on their website and on KZfaq and cannot find answers to these questions.

Very impressive. I wonder if you can cut a profile on that thicker materials - e.g. instead of a round cut-out you could get a cone shape?
@JamesBiggar

Very meticulously, within the max cut limits. There are limited # of layers in Lightburn, though.

Hi Thank you for you review. I'm kind of new to this world of engraving laser. I would like to ask you if I alway need that grill under. If I would like item tall 20cm can I just remove it and let the laser and his structure step higher with some block under the corners?

In my case I would like to put a logo on wine wood classic box of two bottle. Hope you can understand. They are tall 12 cm, wide 18 and long 35
@JamesBiggar
@JamesBiggar 7 ай бұрын
Yes, you can do this. It's always best to have some sort of metal protective sheet under your workpiece to protect your work table in case the laser misses its mark, but the honeycomb panel that I used is only necessary for cuttings tasks. It allows the laser, smoke and debris to penetrate straight through the material so it cuts more efficiently and doesn't cause a mess on the back of the material. But if you just want to engrave boxes, then you can raise the corners of the machine with blocks and just put a thin metal sheet under your box to protect your table. Make sure that the machine is secure after it's raised so vibrations don't knock it over.

Again thank you Sir. Really helpfull and time earning advise. Just in case. I notice that there is the TTS 55 Pro. Less power but do you think that could do the job required. It is only a 10x10cm logo to be engraved on wine wood boxes, or will it result not to burned/black in your opinion?@@JamesBiggar

Hi :-) I would be very interested to know how would you rate this machine in comparison with the Ortur master 3 and the Creality falcon 2 20w, lots of new machines hitting the market recently so this would really help me out

@JamesBiggar 11 ай бұрын
I'm still working with a couple of those brands so it's probably not a smart idea to start comparing them. But I can say that I haven't had an issue with any of them yet. I will shoot a video after a few months of using them and talk about how they've performed and which ones I've grown to like the most.

Thanks for the review. By any chance it can cut through stainless steel in multiple passes?
@JamesBiggar
@JamesBiggar 3 ай бұрын
Most 20W+ diode lasers can cut very thin stainless steel sheets w/ multiple passes, but not with pin point accuracy or precision. Edges are usually rough/serrated.
@JamesBiggar
@JamesBiggar 3 ай бұрын
Similar result as a plasma cutter. But again, very thin sheets. A tenth of a mm thick or less.

Can any one tell the differences between, TTS 20 red ( the red, is the one commonly with Z Axis, or auto focus) and blue?
@JamesBiggar
@JamesBiggar 5 ай бұрын
There is no TTS20 red, only TTS20 Pro. You're thinking of TS2, which has autofocus. TTS20 Pro is larger and 3X faster, though. After owning a couple dozen of these, I can assure you that autofocus is overrated unless you have an enclosed machine with a camera for remote operation. Otherwise it's just a gimmick. You can set the focal point just as quickly or quicker manually in the time that you spend standing their watching it focus itself.

"B Is For Build" channel is looking for a way to customize some aluminum control ring labels for his Italian yacht, I suggested he have a look at your channel and maybe talk to you. Not sure if he saw my comment. I feel like your laser experiments would be a good fit for that. He's also interested in building EVs, they chopped up a Model 3 to put under a different body (Delorean? Not sure).

Depends on the software you use with it. Lightburn (what I used) will work on a Mac but not IOS devices.

I have 2 iPad Pro, a MacBook Pro & a Mac Mini. I’m actually a Producer so I use Logic Pro, Avid Pro Tools, Aurelia, Musition, Live11, and Launchpad. I do have a windows computer however it’s a Lenovo ThinkCenter from 2013 or something like that. I had it rebuilt and had a lot of money invested into it but unfortunately I’m gonna have to wipe the hard drive. It has every retro game that was made from ATARI up to PlayStation One. Every Nintendo, Sega, Atari Game I have them all on here over 5,000 games. I was trying to save it for my son. But hopefully I can get it working again. It can’t think anymore. When you click on Facebook or any online application, it tells you that you’re not online and click networking to troubleshoot your connection so then you click that and it tells you you’re connected to the Internet now your services, but the computer has no idea that it’s connected.. well I want to buy an engraver badly. I’ve been looking at several models and some are not compatible period with Mac/or Apple devices. I’m not sure how that exactly even works if I can create drawings on my iPad on a drawing app or create pictures on Photoshop and then upload the picture into the app for the laser engraver to engrave the image are the Adobe programs compatible with that software? I just wanna make sure that, it’s going to go hand-in-hand with my software.

Be sure to wear the right laser goggles. Often cheap Chinese laser goggles are for the wrong wavelength.
@JamesBiggar
@JamesBiggar 11 ай бұрын
I currently have 12 machines in my workshop. All come with suitable eye protection. If you have any information on which companies in particular are harming people and how you reached that conclusion, it would be very helpful if this is, indeed, a problem that I've somehow missed. Often people read things and just assume them to be true because they don't have the experience or a wavemeter to measure what wavelengths are blocked and what aren't. For you folks who don't know, the color and shade of the goggles doesn't determine what sort of protection they offer against a certain wavelength. They're not designed like sunnies where the darker they are the more visible light they'll block. Generally speaking, most desktop engravers that operate at similar wavelengths will come with similarly coloured/shaded goggles, but that boils down to sourcing their goggles from the same supplier.

So I checked this out on their site. I must not be understanding your definition of "budget" 🤣
@JamesBiggar
@JamesBiggar 10 ай бұрын
That's possible. A budget is just an expenditure plan - what your budget is depends on your finances and what you need to do. There is no specific number that defines it for everyone. When I say "budget-friendly", I mean that if you're in the market for a 20W laser engraver, be it for business or pleasure, then you've probably done at least some research to see what the avg cost is and set your own budget accordingly, and if so, this engraver will give you the best bang for your buck compared to what others cost and what they offer. ~$600-700 for a high precision 20W machine with a >400mm^2 work area is roughly half the cost of most others that offer less. Ie, 'relatively' cheap. Make sense now? :)
@coppulor6500
@coppulor6500 8 ай бұрын
Yeah, the conventionally accepted definition of the word budget when used as an adjective ("budget-friendly" is an adjective), is toward the least expensive end of the cost range. Currently this is in the 2 to 300 dollar range. When you go double or triple that, I guarantee you that most people would consider this to not be "budget friendly"
