I have had my bbshd with 3000watt upgrade and if you clamp it down the right way you will never have issues like this. Mine has had no issues like this just do it right the first time and you are good.

I just got a used ebike with a bbshd, it moves up and down about an inch… should it not move literally AT ALL? If so, is it possible I can just tighten its original bracket? Thank you! Ps. Just curious what your 3000 watt upgrade is? Do you get the high voltage bac855 kit, or maybe the ludicrous v2 controller? Thanks

Buy the socket and tighten motor using it. “ dimples” will “bite” and motor will never move. Yea its a little pricey but gives you an excuse to build more bikes “cause I already got the tool” best advice I ever got

If you temporarily bolt the old mounting plate to the stabilising bar using two nuts and bolts in the outer holes, you can use it as a hole jig to drill the missing clearance/access hole in the stabilising bar. Ideally the stabilising bar should have been manufactured with the extra hole already predrilled so it can be fitted correctly either way around. The two grub screws are used to lock the ring nut in place and prevent it from undoing during use, it is the ring nut itself (when tightened to the correct torque) that "holds your motor in".

I dont have enough room to install the mounting plate and the 2 nuts. I installed w/o the plate yes the motor came loose at 1st I put some lock tight on it . It doesnt come loose any more Ive had other problems since, with the controller I dont think its lack of the mounting plate Ill find out when I get the frankenrunner controller next month

There is a second type of stabilizer bar from Luna Cycles that you can attach to the downtube as it is bent and lies mostly flat. Have two setups and the steel bike the dimples on stock Y-bar clamp mostly worked for a time. However on an aluminum bike the bottom bracket was softer metal and got loose faster. The loose left crank arm problem am now fixing with Shimano replacements for crank arm if anyone gets that far... both bikes loosen up after a time. Am a big guy and they are soft metal.

I wanted to order this but it gave me like +30$ shipping cost to my country. Is there a way you could scan the bracket plate so I could print it and take it to a metal shop so they can fabricate one for me? It is a piece of thick metal, it shouldn't cost that much to make one.

A much easier way is to just use a heavy duty black silicone product and effectively glue the motor to the downtube. I ran a 10mm bead about 50mm across the downtube and raised the motor so that the bead was well fixed to both parts. It has never moved in the two years since I did that.

what about epoxy? but I've never had a problem because I have down-amped by BBS02 so it's never too much torque with the right gear selection

Or you could go to the hardware store buy a hose clamp for the motor and one for the down tube paint them black and for about 10$ problem solved

I’m pissed man my plate didn’t come loose the screws holding the motor to the plate stripped the motor threading and then the opposite side where the motor attaches to the chainring broke and I literally just do 1 mile trips to work
