I thought it might help those who enjoy leather crafts lightly.
I've uploaded a tutorial on how to sew without a pony.
The way I tell you may not be the norm!?~
I just uploaded it to share how I do it.
Those who are skilled can sew beautifully without a pony.
Otherwise, the pony is easy and the stitching comes out a little prettier.

@PlanBLeather~ Vincent, this was a VERY HELPFUL VIDEO for me Sir! It is the BEST CLOSE UP CAMERA VIEW I have seen and the easiest to understand demonstration of how to do the two different stitches! I am a very visual learner, so I tend to look for all the small details of how a craftsman carries out different tasks. Your demonstration was fantastic! THANK YOU SO MUCH! ~~Christy~~

PLAN.B: Thank you, Merci, Salamat. Extremely helpful as other methods I was using to ensure a slant stitch on the back were inconsistent and frustrating. I just tried your technique and it's automatic. All the best with your channel and leatherworking business.

Hi, does allowing the thread to twist make it more secure than if you DON’T let it twist? What is the advantage/disadvantage to these two methods?
@plan.b
@plan.b 6 ай бұрын
Hi. Rather than looking at pros and cons, look at it from a choice perspective. When you twist the thread, the thread shape on the front and back comes out diagonally. If you want this look, twist the thread and sew. Otherwise, just don't twist the thread. Thank you for watching. :)

@@plan.b so when I use the twist method, I get REALLY nice angled stitches on the side where the twist occurs, but the other side’s stitches remain straight. Do you have a solution for this? I used a stitch groover… does that make a difference?
@plan.b

The twist method involves twisting the thread one more time inside the leather. That is why it is effective when used on thick leather. I do not recommend using it on thin leather. And I think stitch groover will also have an impact.

@@Mrbpotter1 Armitage Leather just released three one-hour videos (long I know) going into a ton of detail about saddle stitching. While they do use a pony, it is really helpful in understanding when/why you might twist or not (also known as casting). But basically, the presence or absence of the twist forces the thread up or down depending on how exactly your holes are punched and how you are stitching.
