About the Project:
Join me as we create a map rich with natural beauties, distant towns and a bustling metropolis. The aim is to create an island that feels as big as a state or territory, including vast biomes, mountains, rivers and an endless coastline. Set in Australia and New Zealand (maybe an island in between), this map takes inspiration from open world video games and the way in which the game devs create such immersive environments, such as GTA 4 and 5, Red Dead Redemption 2 and the Mafia 4 maps. To take it one step further, every thing on the map should feel unique and distinct. No city district, town or mountain should feel or look the same.

You need more rural homesteads in the middle of nowhere. Like a round the lake. Like 4- 10 houses in the middle of nowhere with old cars in their yards

That comment about cabins maybe being a common thing in New Zealand is actually accurate, cos in New Zealand there's a network of public huts that trampers can use to stay in for the night that number close to a thousand huts.

For the long walk path. I did something similar, where I banned all but service/delivery vehicles and made a park with just enough attraction to get walkers. Car parking either side of the path helped. As well as making the main attraction point equal distance between each entrance.

Something unique to major Australian cities is Government House, which you should look at placing into the main city. They’re usually tucked away in the side and serve as the residence for the State Governor or premier. Surrounded by luscious gardens and the building is always so nice.

I suppose a name of another significant polish person would suit Oceania well, since the biggest mountain in Australia is named after a polish general, Kosciuszko. My idea is Sobieski Mountain, but there is a lot of names you could use ;)

I like this idea (I'm not polish btw lol) because it gives dept to the city's history. It implies that there are immigrant communities around Oceania and that they had significant contributions to the city's history, which makes it more complex.

I think a really interesting addition may be wineries if possible? seems pretty random but when you enter the country just around cities here is Australia they tend to be pretty popular - especially around Canberra and Melbourne. I think that might be a fun, unique build and serves both farming and tourism needs! Australia is actually pretty big in the wine industry right now due to our climate and I think that would be cool to reflect in this city - it kinda feels like inside knowledge that foreigners probably wouldn't know! Great work so far - your attention to detail always fascinates me!!

im native american and in all of my builds i like to refer to dictionaries for indigenous languages to name things because its realistic and a great way to name things you are stuck on. there's a great wiradjuri (indigenous ppl of nsw) dictionary available online. there are so many translation errors that have become enshrined in place names in settler colonies by settlers naming things. so like Yirambang Mountain would be a funny one because when translated it would just be Mountain Mountain

One thing you see along the older rural highways in NSW are some dirt road last that leach off of them for huge properties (privately owned residential with a mix of smaller farm) if it that makes sense. An example In think of is Big River Way Bom Bom, south of Grafton.

@twodollarstwenty you might want to take a look at the 'SingleTrainTrackAI' in the steam workshop. This mod allows you to get more trains at single train tracks without having to double all of them. Trains will wait for each other to pass before entering the single track part of your line. This might be the solution to increase frequency of trains and decrease waiting times for passengers in Paterson.

I'm not sure if you've already done this and I just missed it, but I think it would be neat if there was an abandoned mining sector. I've always loved the look of huge, wooden mining masts and abandoned train rails running along side a highway in the middle of absolutely nowhere. Something like Johannesburg, CA or it's accompanying Randsburg, CA. The style would have to be significantly different since these are both in the Mojave desert and have stereotypically "American Western" buildings, but I've always loved driving past them and just imagining the history and lives of the people who worked there

A trick I learned from City Planner Plays about building roads on a rough terrain is opening the terrain height tab from the top left info menu while building. The reason is when you're building a road on a cliff or something in real life, the road tends to follow the natural elevation, because it's cheaper to follow the nature rather than digging and filling everywhere to make the terrain follow the road. I am saying this because I realized how much those little roads you build just doesn't fit the terrain. They go up and down everywhere, then you go and use move it and stuff, but if you use the method I mentioned, you could both achieve a more natural and realistic look, and also would make the process more practical.

I love your series, you're my favorite C:S youtuber. I think an immigrant neighborhood would be cool to fill the residential demand. In São Paulo theres a neighborhood that is traditionally filled with immigrants, Bom Retiro. It used to be a place for Jewish and Italian immigrants if Im not mistaken and other communities, and more recently its been transformed into a Little Korea. But also, in the same hood theres a bunch of Bolivian immigrants, and its interesting to see the contrast. I think it would be very cool to see something similar added in Oceania
@srijulakhotha7247

Hi Reino! Good idea, but in Australia and New Zealand we don't really have distinct "ghettos". Immigrants do cluster, but it's a lot less concentrated than in the United States, and also the immigrant concentrations tend to be very mixed as well (for example, Greek + Italian + Lebanese). HUGE greetings to you and all the other wonderful Brazilians out there - we love you guys!

@@srijulakhotha7247 Thanks for the reply and yeah, here its not too concetrated too, but immigrants do tend to leave a mark on one particular neighborhood. And also what Im proposing is to mix the communities too, like the Koreans and Bolivians in the example

Maybe a good name for the dam would be Wyaralong Dam. The name comes a dam south of Brisbane that also is on the way from the Gold Coast to lots of country towns. That dam Is also part of a larger Aboriginal heritage site. Also, I think its just a cool name. In real life, there is also a rowing club there and perhaps that could be a cool build.

From what I see while travelling the southwest U.S., I suspect there is a hierarchy in highway barriers determined by the government based on speed, historical problem areas & budget. * Heavy traffic, small spacing between directions: concrete barriers * Heavy traffic, large/medium spacing between: cable barriers * Low traffic, medium spacing: cable barriers (usually) * Low traffic, large spacing: no barriers

Really hope to see some little homes all along the highway. Not sure about Australia cause I’ve never been but in Michigan’s UP along the smaller highways there tends to be a lot of sparse, smaller homes way out in the country side (mostly along lakes). If that doesn’t work, some tiny towns would definitely make sense, even if realistically they’d be struggling quite hard economically
