Matt Schofield and Josh Smith Demo and chat about the new Two-Rock TS1 Amplifier. Links at the end of the video for full performance and full interview.
This amp was originally released in 2010. Bill Krinard was always searching for the “Tone Secret” and the TS1 is the nod to the classic overdrive, cascading gain stage amplifier. Over the years, Bill has been refining the circuit and in 2017, we’ve re-released this amp with the benefit of these refinements.
-100 or 50 watt head
-4 x 6L6 (100 Watt), 2 x 6L6 50 Watt
-Passive Effects Loop (120V ELI Buffered Effects Loop Available)
-4 ohm, 8 ohm, 16 ohm Speaker Outputs
-100 Watt versions have half power function
-Black or Silver anodize with silver skirt knob option
-Head: 20 5/8″ wide x 22″ tall x 11″ deep 46 LBS
-Available in Black Bronco, black grill cloth or Blond and oxblood grill cloth
-2 Button Foot switch (Lead/Bypass) with 4-pin XLR connection

I totally don't have that first volume control up like Josh. Those amps can get fizzy if you're not careful as they have a lot of gain. I find it's much smoother with the first volume down and the master up a bit as well as the gain channel volume. I keep the od trim at 10 o clock on the dial too. Maybe the two-rock ts-1 is different but I see a lot of people with too much gain on their ceriatone's usually because they have the first volume cranked.

Do not compare Josh's Two Rock settings with someone's Ceriatone settings, that's gonna get you nowhere. I made the same mistake long ago when Joe Bonamassa used Dumbles or Van Weeldens or Carol Anns and he would sound great on all of those but his settings were drasticaly different on each of them. Pots never have the same value and makers do use different pot specs anyways so copying someones pot position will not get you his volume or gain or eq. If your amp sounds good were you set it, then that's where it's supposed to be. And it became clearer when I managed to compare a Fuchs ODS classic with a Two Rock TS1. Could get them to sound and respond almost identical to each other but the volume and eq settings had to be really different to achieve that. My TS1 od sounds good with input at 5 with a LP and 5.5 with a tele. Anything more than that the tone gets boomier and bolder, loses spank, it's not the fizz that is the problem.

@@mvhax2ftw352 Dumble as 1 amp doesn't exist. Every Dumble is different as they were designed for specific frontline players. Yes Two-Rock is inspired by Dumble amps. But Dumble doesn't produce amps for stores. That's why I said that Two-Rock are the best amps, as you can actually order one in shops.

They are pretty good but overrated. They look awesome and the cabs are well constructed. I have an ods clone built by a friend that blatantly has better quality parts for almost half the price. Couple of grand less than the Ts-1. Find a builder who has a great ear for tone and uses the best parts and go with them.

So funny how they avoid uttering the word. Dumble, the amp that dare not speak its name.... I played through a Steel String Singer once and sorry, but it was not worth the $48K price tag.

Both uses a Free the Tone AMBI SPACE AS-1R (reverb). =)

I think he was just saying not everyone that plays a Two Rock can get the best out of it. Like the average player. It's not just rich musicians that can afford these amps. Regular Joe's that save up can too lol.

I kind of chuckle when anyone says JM is a bad or average player. You may not like his music, but it's a very silly thing to say.
