Some of us are old enough to have actually driven old route 66 through AZ into New Mexico (others maybe farther than that, not me) The cars of the 30s through 40s were not long range comfy road specials and frequent stops were the norm for gas and cool downs. Old highway 90 when it was the primary East West route was similar to Route 66 and driving it from LA to New Orleans was as fun as it can get until it also got bypassed. I now ride my motorcycle along these old time routes and leave the car at home and been doing so since 1999, I stay in hotels along the roads I travel, but use to camp back in the young days of my life.

My wife and I lived in Phoenix for 15 years. We rode the bike to Oatman many times. We have so many great videos of our rides. We GoProed everything. My wife loves donkeys. Super ride. Great town! We would go from there over to Laughlin on the Colorado River. Ride along the River back to Phoenix.

Love ya'll taking us along for the adventures! My family did a motorhome vacation from Alabama to the Grand Canyon and on to Vegas and down to Oatman 2 years ago. Being as I am a country boy who owns burros I was not about to leave Arizona without seeing Oatman and the wild Burros. The sidewinder sure made me wish I had my bike. Wrestling a motorhome around those curves gets tight and you feel the narrow roadways when you meet a 4 wheel vehicle. I was more comfortable driving the Vegas strip in that beast. Being out west for a short time makes you want to hug the trees and roll in the grass when you get home.

My folks drove the original Route 66 back when they had a new 57 Chevy to San Diego, we live in MI. Left home with $300 and came back with about $100. Gas was around twenty cents a gallon, rooms .50 to a $1.50. Sack lunches and one hot per day. No interstates back then.

Hi, I wrote you a comment when you were selling your tees but I don’t think it reach you. The subject is holding tanks on RVs in transit. The dos and donuts. You will be surprised, as was I. RV miles is the website on U Tube. Subject Jayco under fire for denying claim. Insists you can not safely travel with water in holding tanks. The gentleman keeps a weekly diary on current RV info every Friday. Also check out the Jayco Forum. I owned a 2010 ROO from Forest River, never had a holding tank issue. But looking at the support brackets I would think twice about topping of a tank now. Hope this is not too much information. It’s just one more thing to keep an eye on. Your are in my part of this great country, Southern Nevada. Keep riding, your educating a whole bunch of us. You two are great history teachers, my favorite subject. Good Luck, and God Speed.

Thanks for the kind words. I have watch that about the claim denial. Our was fully covered under the extended warranty all I had to pay was the $50 deductible and shipping, so $212. The tank was never secured in the frame so I think helped the acceptance of this claim.

Rick, you seem to have had numerous water leaks. I would like to give you some food for thought. No doubt the bulk of the leaks are due to rocks and other debris kicked up on highways and side roads that you have traveled. I thought that if you found some thin aluminum and made a make-shift shield/buffer set about 1 to 2 inches away and around the tank it would give you, hopefully, enough protection to have one less headache to deal with. A very thin material should not add any weight to your trailer. If this is not useful I thought that you would come up with your own idea to eliminate the problem. I hope this helps in some way.

So here is a dumb question. Do you have shock absorbers on your trailer? When off road the trailer can ride much rougher than the truck. Maybe that is what broke the shelf and the water tank. Brian
