High in the Hohe Tauern National Park lies the stunning Pasterze Glacier, at approximately 8.4 kilometres (5.2 mi) in length, this is the longest glacier in Austria and in the Eastern Alps. Join us as we take a journey to it's icy face and discover how this impressive sea of ice is rapidly disappearing!

That glacier is on its last legs by the looks of it. Many of the ones we have in Norway are suffering too. The thick ice cap on what used to be our highest mountain, Glittertind, is gone now. As a result, it's now our second highest. (Galdhøpiggen is currently the highest in Norway now, at 2469 m. a. sea level. It has never had an ice cap, so will keep the title in all foreseeable future). Even Jostedalsbreen, the biggest glacier in all of mainland Europe (Vatnajøkul in Iceland is bigger), will be mostly gone in a few decades. It's sad. But that's where we are heading, folks.
