Facts

TX-183 also has a brief freeway segment in SW Fort Worth (I-20/CTP to Vickery Blvd.) as well. It is a relic of the originally-planned alignment for what would later become the I-20/I-820 loop around Fort Worth. After already building around half of the southwestern quadrant of the loop in the late 1950s, TxDOT decided to build the remainder of the southwestern segment further to the west, leaving behind a segment that never actually became part of the beltway (and this is what became that short freeway segment of TX-183 in SW Fort Worth). There is still an original 1959 overpass where SH-183 goes over Crosslands Road. Ironically, one segment of the southwest quadrant of Fort Worth's loop was the first to open (immediately west of what is now I-35W in 1957, and progressively opening westwards to Vickery in 1959), whereas another segment of the SW quadrant was the last segment of the loop to open (in 1982). Much of rest of the loop opened in a counterclockwise fashion, starting with the southeast quadrant just east of I-35W. There's one on TX Toll 130 that has exit number and mileage. There's also Loop 375.

Most state routes in Texas don't have exit numbers or mileage markers on their freeway segments, for whatever the reason. Thanks for the comment.

Big difference is that many Ontario highways, like the 401, use a collector lane system which I am not aware of being used anywhere in the US.

It's been a while, but I believe this was filmed on a Saturday afternoon, so traffic was not as bad as it could be.

I remember how awful that merge was from growing up, and you're exactly right about what causes it. Crazy how much the highway changed yet they did nothing about that merge. Also crazy to see how many businesses are the same.

@@greatcolor They should have had three westbound lanes between Holiday Lane and the express lanes entrance (7:29) at Rufe Snow, with the left lane entering the express lanes, once this initial project was completed. I do believe that traffic on I-820 between I-35W and SH-183 has met criteria set by TxDOT that will require the contractor to add a third general-purpose lane in each direction along the entirety of this segment of I-820, as there was a traffic volume level mentioned in the contract (to my understanding) that has been exceeded in the last couple of years. I commute this portion of I-820 between I-35W and Rufe Snow between two and four times daily (on weekdays), so I am not really looking forward to any disruptions this widening might cause, but it should be minimal as the third lane will be added to the left of the existing two general-purpose lanes (per direction).

I was about to say... I drove that route to work everyday at 3pm, and while not as bad as it could have been you still would strap in everyday prepared to nascar/demolition derby/book of Eli your way through that.
