Literally just switched in the last 2 weeks to it. Took alot of getting used too. I love it putting much better especially on inside of 20 ft. 5 footers are much more comfortable now. I have a one way miss to the right now rather than a 2 way yip. For us recreational golfers anything that makes us feel comfortable and enjoy the game more should be allowed

I play to a 7 handicap but put like a scatch player, according to arccoss. I decided to give ER11V mid lock a try this season. I played 4 rounds with it based on off the rack loft and lie and had a very hard time with distance control. Paid the dollars and went to club champion for a putter fitting so we could adjust the loft and lie on sam putt lab. After adjusting for loft and lie (they were really off for my putting style), I made 15 consecutive 10 footers at club champion. Came home and got into a groove where I made 50 consecutive 7 footers at home on my birdie ball putting matt. I am still getting used to distance control but this midlock by evnroll is amazing. But the only way this putter would work for you is if you get fitted for the appropriate lie and loft and you have to spend time re-calibrating your distance control on the putting green. I think its worth the effort.

I have a 7 plus year old Arm Lock putter, I use it off and on, it has good feel, but. I do not think it gives me an advantage ( except ) when the yips slip into my stroke which happens off and on, when it does I go to the Arm Lock putter and no yips and they go away in several weeks, Arm Lock is like an aspirin which I take when I need it, do I magically putt better with one, no, it's just another club in the golf bag. People need to stop looking for a reason why someone beats them on the course, golf is hard, just accept it. Good video guys as usual.

I use the super stroke wristlock grip on a odyssey triple track seven and it has made a huge improvement on my putting. Personally I think armlock is fundamentally different than anchoring. To me anchoring is when the butt end of the putter is anchored to a fixed point allowing the putter to act like a pendulum. An Armlock stroke while eliminating some degrees of freedom from a standard stroke will still be a compound radius with a changing center of rotation.

Just bought this Evnroll putter and love it. It feels odd at first, but the lock and lean has me holing way more putts than my old Oddysse pitter, especially inside five feet where I was struggling. For people struggling on the greens, especially those missing short putts (like myself), this is a game changer. I play offf 7, with this 4 or 5. That's something to look forward to.

I built a custom diy armlock putter this spring. I'm currently loving it. I use a Cleveland classic belly head, 42 inch shaft, bryson's grip with the flat running against my left forearm, 7* loft. First, I found it required a lot of tweaking of loft, grip, and setup. You really need to be able to tinker to get it right for you. It required time for me to adjust. It wasn't great right away. I use quite a bit more static forward press at setup than before. It also has changed my stroke {for the better} a lot. Shorter makeable putts feel really great. Lots of confidence. Lag putting is a struggle. It's harder to get a feel for distance control because you feel locked onto the forearm. This has improved, but has required practice. Overall I really enjoy it and would recommend.

If it was an enormous advantage you would see ever pga tour pro use it. You would see all the winners using it. Its still golf you have to use what works for you. Just look at the best golfers on tour, they all use different putters (hell peter finch was using an alien head putter) I love my armlock for now using for 2 weeks I'm constantly scaring the hole and keeping it to tap ins..... if they ban it I'll keep using it unless it is designated in a tourney I'm playing in that I can't use it.
@si777

I've never used it, but to argue why all pro's are not using it.... Maybe they are predicting it will be banned in the near future. Changing to something else takes time then to change back that will take time as well so probably not worth the hassle if they think it's going to be banned. I personally don't know if it should be banned.

Recently purchased a custom Pinhawk On Lock Putter at 37”, my normal putter is 33”. I have installed an Evnroll Midlock grip and use a wrist lock method. The putting stroke is much more stable than my standard putter. I also adopted a saw (claw type) grip for my right had. The results are very good and I am making more putts. The Pinhawk has 7 degrees of loft and another huge advantage is putting from off the green. On those putts, I use my chipping grip and stance; the proximity results are much better and I make more of these putts than I did with my standard putter.

As someone who has experimented with armlock quite a lot this year, I can tell you that having a traditional putter grip helps a ton. You can lock the putter to your arm by simply using your pointer finger on your non dominate hand, all that is left is for the dominant hand to control the length of the stroke. Also, I have noticed a significant increase in make on shorter putts (inside 10 feet), aka those knee knockers.
@millerviz
@millerviz 2 жыл бұрын
I picked one up and immediately felt comfortable with it. It feels so stable that I can't imagine it isn't helping me. The grip without the side bulge is designed to go against the forearm just like the other. It leans forward more and the putter face has more loft to compensate. It's not really a tremendous amount different than a left hand low grip but it does completely eliminate wrist from the putt.

The one thing people don’t understand about armlock is ball position along with where it “locks” in at on the arm. Midlock is when the club locks in down the forearm and closer to the wrist. Ball position needs to be closer to normal ball position (slightly forward). If you go armlock with club locking in more up the forearm closer to the elbow the ball position needs to be slightly further back in the stance. More towards the middle. This allows you not to have to manipulate the forward press to get the loft closer to standard loft. Playing it back allows for that. They might allow it. They might not. I think the thing on tour that needs to go is the green books. I don’t mind the armlock. Still gotta read the putts

I bought a Cobra Grandsport-35 last summer. Sadly only got to play one round with it before my home course was flooded and it ruined the last month of the season (it's a short golf season in Sweden). The putter came with their standard grip, but being a fan of Bryson, I got the JumboFlat 17-grip and have put that on instead for this season, with the flat side towards the wrist (like Bryson has it). I have to agree with many of the comments here, about it feeling better and more accurate on short putts. I haven't used it much yet, but getting the right feel for distance will take some getting used to. It doesn't come as natural as with conventional putting. I know Bryson has a putting video on his YT channel and unless I remember it wrong, he has a pretty impressive system with how far he's taking the club back for a certain length putt. I have a feeling that works better on fast PGA tour greens than on the average course where the speed (and often quality) of the green is a different animal. But with enough practice, I think it is possible to get a good feeling with armlock too. I guess the question is how many are willing to grind their putting and perhaps suffer from poor putting for a while to eventually (and hopefully) get better results in the end. I will give it this season, and try to spend much more time on the practice green than I usually do. I feel like I really need to do it, or I will make a(n even bigger) fool of myself on the course. :D

Being a hobbyist club maker, I’m always tinkering with new stuff. I built up an armlock and have played a few rounds with it. I feel more comfortable with face control but it’s been a struggle so far to control distance. I think with more practice, it could be a real winner.

My putting was the best part of my game. +0.3 strokes gained putting on arccos. I went to the new cobra armlock 2 weeks ago. My putting never got worse and after two weeks my putting is actually getting better. +1 on arccos in just 2 weeks. I actually went right into course play with it and it was extremely easy to adopt. Lag putting is taking some time but inside 10 feet this thing is insanely accurate. There is no reason why you shouldn’t try it as long as it’s conforming.

Face rotation is a function of wrist/hand roll. Hold your putter (any way) and try to roll your wrists/hands. LOTS of movement, right? 20 or 30 degrees off-line BOTH ways! I use the regular hand position but (with a large grip) rotate my top hand over so that it wants to close the putter face. I then rotate my bottom hand in the opposite direction (so that it wants to open the putter face). When holding the putter, you can see the backs of both hands facing upwards. These forces balance each other out and you can hardly make the face rotate 3 degrees either way because each hand wants to take it the opposite way. Try it. The putter face stays dead square to the line.

I think it is an interesting concept. I always think the less moving parts for something like a putting (or general golf) swing, the better chance at the accuracy and precision of your shots. That being said, if its not fit well, and like many said if there is something mentally preventing you from a good swing, all the equipment in the world won't help you. The argument of the Tour player using this is an interesting one. Yes, on one hand if it "worked" maybe we would see it more, then again Tour pros got to where they did with a certain swing and equipment type and they may be more resistant either consciously or subconsciouly to a drastic change in concept like this, and also more likely to give up on it if it isn't producing results.

If the anchor rule was established to prevent people from "Anchoring" the putter shaft against the "Body" thus giving them a distinctive pendulum motion advantage....how is it possible that the anchoring of a putter against one's forearm or bicep isn't cheating? Of course it's cheating and violates the anchor ban...unless somehow the arm isn't considered part of the body? Bryson has been mentioned by name in every upper level conversation of this issue. Yes, it does give an advantage.
@kennysingletary4490

Because the arm actually moves during the stroke, a grip stuck in the stomach or chest does not move and creates a true pendulum.
@JMEAUS22

Because its not anchoring. Its never anchored to the body. Anchoring requires the butt end of club be attached to a fixed point of body. Arm us not a fixed point, it moves during stroke. Butt end of club never in contact with body at any stage either. Its not anchoring

I've tried them in the shop, and wasn't initially too impressed. It would certainly take a lot of getting used to, especially when it comes to pace. I have to feel like my trail side controls the pace to putt consistently. Also, the only models I have available to demo are the more expensive ones, so the cheapskate in me comes out. I wish globalgolf had one of these in their Utry program, then I would have a couple of weeks to try it in the real world before taking the plunge. It's not the money really, it's that I don't want to spend money on a new putter only to find it makes no difference, or is possibly worse. And, I don't want to have to go through the trouble of reselling.

Poor Matt Kuchar. Just going along armlocking for years and nobody says a word. What about that SK7 stand alone putter? I would love some dialogue on if you think that’s cheating or illegal? Or shoot what about even the triple track ball markings? If there is data that shows it improves putting and people have the option to use the technology but don’t, is it cheating?

The test was purely for shortish putts - which is not the case in real golf. How about facing a 30 - 35 footer and needing 2 putts to win a match? The challenge I found for arm lock (mid lock) was the distance control for putts longer than 25 feet. I've gone from conventional to armlock (for about 4 mos) to conventional to mid lock (for about 2.5 mos) and finally now back to conventional. I play off a 3hcap now and putting is the worst aspect of my game (hence the trials) - in the end, even with Evnroll's sweet face tech - the midlock (i feel) added a stroke/stroke and a half in my game because I found I was 3 putting more than I used to because all the feel you need for a lag putt is simply gone. Maybe this is also why you only see a handful (BAD, Kuchar and Xander S?) of pros use these. Consider that these guys play for their livelihood - if it was really heads and shoulders better than most putters - maybe most would go for this instead.

Personally, they should have never banned anchoring. However, if they want anchoring to be banned, then this should be banned. Seems pretty clear to me that this is anchoring. Hopefully, they will just get rid of the ban altogether.
@JMEAUS22
@JMEAUS22 3 жыл бұрын
Bracing & anchoring not the same. Not even remotely. Anchoring requires a fixed point to anchor to. The arm moves during stroke so its not fixed point. Its not anchored because the only way you can anchor a putter is with the butt end of the club. So no, it shouldnt be banned at all

I dont find it to be a very large advantage. It doesn't take away from the spirit of golf. You still need to read the greens and put the right stroke on the ball.. regardless of the club grip. Also, is it not serving the same purpose that 99% of the oversized/weighted putters? It is just doing it in the grip and and not the head.. although still doing it in the head because a proper arm locked putter has an off set in the head so that you dont feel too far forward. It isn't as simple as just buying the grip and throwing it on your everyday putter. It is exactly what you want in a new club lol one that gives actual results. It even takes "getting use to" you mean like time to develop skill with the club?! As one would with ANY golf club they start using. Taylor Made doesnt come out with a new driver that drives an extra 20 yards and people dont get mad about that? If this should be banned then so should every form of anchor putting. (Mind you I say all this and dont even own a set of golf clubs..) What little I have delved into the sport.. it seems absurd to me that they would ban Bryson Dechambeu's way of putting. AGAIN. At some point you have to say okay.. they are just stacking the cards against this guy and imo he is changing the sport. He may not be as decorated as Tiger or Rory but he sure is doing a lot to the approach of the core game. Golf always been thought of as an old man/rich person sport.. and physical fitness having little to do with it. He is working so hard to shave the strokes off his play with his drives and they just keep banning every way he has to actually make the strokes worth while. Bryson is not the best putter on tour. Far from it actually. Ive not seen anything yet that really stands out to me that this putter needs to be banned. And when I get to buy my own first set of clubs.. the one length and armlock putter style really appeals to me as a brand new golfer. The theory behind it is very sound and makes sense to me. I understand how hard it is for people to break habit. But that needs to be one of you abilities as a professional athlete and that is to adapt and overcome. If it really is the better way to put then you need to switch to it.. or be brave and willing enough to compete against it and prove that it isn't better. You shouldn't get to complain because you refuse to try it because it feels "uncomfortable." So, were gonna ban someone else's putter because YOU feel uncomfortable with it?! lol If that is the case then we need to be banning over sized and weighted putters. OR ban fittings and just have one standard set of clubs.. It is completely illogical to ban this putter or any of the other things I mentioned.

Is that grip a grip that is added to a traditional putter or do you still have to get a putter with additional loft on the putter face? Thanks again for a great video and there is certainly a lot of talk about arm lock putters, but hopefully this will help me become an even better putter. Also can this grip be turned around and be used on the right arm similar to the way that Kutcher has reversed his arm lock putter to his right arm? Thanks!!!

Been doing this for 15 years off the back arm, immobilization is the best way to attain accuracy came up with it long before it was a thing. Alan Alda PBS science helped. This way of putting is awesome for more 90% of golfers. You just proved it through your analytics and yet just because of professional now finds it “easier”We need to ban it from everybody. Golf got “easy”wtf? We need to make it harder! Wrist lock next? What about bottom over top, is that next too? I’m surprised you even let women play golf. How dare the sport progress, next we will be back to Hickory shafts and hand forged irons. A wood is only a wood if it’s persimmon. LETS MAKE GOLF HARDER TOGEGTHER!!!! BAN lead tape, metal shafts, and graphite. Carbon fiber is right out!!! If you didn’t build it you can’t play it. You can only putt the way everyone else does that’s fair, right everyone? at what point am I gonna have to turn around and hold the club behind me to hit the ball that sounds challenging enough for a professional maybe they all need to putt that way

I converted a old belly putter since the head weight needs to be heavy (roughly 400g tradition putters are around 340g) I then got the AL grip which adds around 3 degrees of loft and can be found online. Then had a pro adjust the lie angle. Honestly if I had to do it all again I’d buy one off eBay cheap to see if it was worth it instead of going through all the work of creating mine own.
@SasquatchTour
@SasquatchTour 3 жыл бұрын
Yes it's possible. I did it to give arm lock a try as I used to have a forward press like Dave Stockton. I wouldn't do it with a head that is less than 370g. Most arm lock putter heads are closer to 400g. Average length is around 43" but it's important to make sure the shaft is long enough to reach the meat of the lead forearm but not go past the elbow. A good start is finding a belly putter and add loft. Most putters are around 3 degrees of loft which an arm lock will need about 7-9 degrees depending on how much shaft lean you need based off of where you setup the putter head in the stance meaning forward or back. For grips I recommend the jumbo max grip Bryson uses or the mid lock grip on the even roll putters which I found on eBay. The last item is lie angle. Most putters are around 70 if you are using a face balanced putter I found that 73 degrees worked better which is the standard spec that PXG uses for their builds. I found a cheap belly putter and simply adjusted loft and lie for a cheap try since belly putters are illegal you can find bargains and are easily converted otherwise a cheap hack on a standard putter is put in a graphite shaft extension by cutting a cheap graphite shaft. I used graphite for my initial conversion because the shaft is lighter and didn't alter swing weight as much as steel. And then have the loft adjusted to at least 7 degrees.
