As an american lifelong sprinter, I absolutely love Jamican Sprinters, and I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Jacko! ShaCarri and Jacko are extremely good friends, and they both have a very positive attitude in general. ShaCarri pops off when she’s offended, but I understand her tons because she’s just like me. I’m the sweetest person on this planet until I feel someone tries me, and then is when I’m their worst enemy, because I’m not a pushover. But with these two, ShaCarri and Jacko are both great friends who love eachother, although every single competitor wants to play mind games with their top competitors, of course. Noah does this so he can win…he plays a game to make his opponents weak. But Shelly does that too when she jumps out on folks and messes up their heads. It’s very common in the sport and most are doing it one way or another…they’ve gotta try and shut down their opponent so they don’t get beat (as long as it’s in a fair way, not Tonya Harding and Nancy K, LOL). I love you always, T, but I choose to be positive about Jacko and ShaCarri. They have a wonderful friendship and I don’t want to see the two not be friends. We black americans and Jamicans need to fix our relationship…we are supposed to love one another!

🥱None of the Jamaican athletes laughed at the American when she came last. Shelly was the only one who SMILED at her comments and how she acted when she responded to questions from journalists. In fact, Elaine tried to be understanding towards her….despite her derogative comments etc. It’s no big deal, if Shelly-Ann doesn’t Medal in Paris she has proved her worth against the Americans and the world. If she goes in retirement it’s down to nature, not due to anyone’s performance. None of the current 100m runners will be as great as SFP.💖 Shericka, Sha’carri Gabby, should medals in Paris (Shelly-Anne, Marie Ta lou and StLucian) have a very good chance 😅 It would make my day to see Marie Ta lou medal ⭐️💖🔥❤️

Evidently, Jamaicans don't know how reality TV works. It is supposed to be full of drama in order for ratings. 100 % what you seeing is preplanned. Meaning both sides already knew what was going to happen. You all really think small Sha'carri would step to Shericka. All of them most likely got paid to do that. Everything that happens on TV is not always real. But also, being a bad guy can get you paid like Mayweather because you got a side that wants to see you win and the other who wants to see you lose. And both are willing to pay to see it. Having beef sells more than being nice. Even if it's fake beef.

@@aliciamcdonald7105 To address these two points together: There is a saying which goes, perception is reality. However, regardless of what obtains on reality TV and, despite whether ALL Jamaicans have somehow been hiding out under a rock - meaning, by some mystery all of the nation is ignorant of these realities (which are obviously known by ALL Americans!) - it doesn't change any of the sentiments articulated here about the historic tensions between American and Jamaican athletes, and the broader issues of entitlement that drives American fandom in the sport. I really feel like we miss the key point about how production values are usually biased in favour of those who own and control media. What we see is curated to elicit particular responses from the audience. Villains and heroes are all rooted in cultural preferences and ideas of power. In other words, this is not neutral ground, and, surely, the motivations for the script/performance of certain realities come from specific contexts. So, notwithstanding the politics of reality TV, the core concerns remain the same. And, what is more, who are Americans to tell Jamaicans how to feel about the images they see of themselves interacting with others onscreen? I don't get it. SMH!

@aliciamcdonald7105 Күн бұрын
@@MachelN25 First of all, I am NOT an American. Second, no one is telling ANYONE how they SHOULD feel about ANYTHING. Third, perception becomes YOUR reality if all you go on is said perception. Finally, you have a host here who is suggesting that Jamaicans become PHYSICAL against the opposition based on her POOR/NON - EXISTENT/SHALLOW understanding of something that should have been OBVIOUS especially to someone who is EMPLOYED by SOCIAL MEDIA. Irrespective of the history of the Jamaican/American rivalry in T&F, it is IRRESPONSIBLE of the OP to take this tone about an OBVIOUS 'made for tv' production. Yall are completely overreacting! This series was made to hype up the rivalry of USA vs Jamaica. This generates more eyeballs to track and field. USA is finally winning gold medals and now y’all have a problem because Sha’Carri is confident in her talent and the work she put in when y’all were trashing her when she had a down moments. They obviously get along and embrace each other. Stop creating friction that’s not there and allow the natural rivalry to better all of these talented ladies. It’s ok to be at war while on the track and friends afterward. Thats sports!

Thank you!!! I can't believe this woman is threatening physical violence! I watched all 6 episodes and it was very lighthearted but also the competition is fierce. What's funny is MVP talks about how Shelly and Elaine didn't get along and that's why the split happened. Elaine and Shelly also complained about having to compete too hard in practice against each other. But I guess they won't see a problem with that. I walked away from the series feeling bad for Elaine because she literally said "anybody can be a coach" and as we've seen, that is not the case. She's in trouble with her husband at the helm.

T, thanks for the insight on the Netflix special. It kinda sounds like some "Real Athletes of Track and Field" reality show bs. I guess what I'm saying is , I don't need Netflix instigating some personal dislike for athletes by showing carefully selecting scenes designed to piss me off. Is that what Netflix is doing?? I don't know, but I don't trust it. and if It pissed T off that bad in just 2 episodes.. They can keep it. Eff off Netflix... I'm good on your "documentary/reality show" or whatever it is they call it.

This video is crazy. I watched the entire 6 episodes, and in this clip, Carri and the Jamaican athletes were joking with one another. You are looking for a problem. The coaches have a lot of respect for each other and congratulated each other and HUGGED each other. You're advocating that Jamaican athletes get PHYSICAL and ruin their own medal hopes? Y'all fans need to chill.

Worst advice ever lol Shericka handled it perfectly, it they react the way you suggest they look stupid and it could cost them money & sponsors. Bear in mind that they edit the footage to create more drama. It’s not unique to Jamaica vs USA or the track and field. Athletes try to use the starting blocks that other athletes set up all the time. It’s sports and there was mutual respect between the camps. The coaches both admire each other and their opponents athletes. Don’t instigate it and make it more than it was. We can have a rivalry without coming out of character. Shericka represented her country with grace and poise. Setting an example for the younger runners.

I will watch the docuseries. You can’t fight in professional sports. Black people on the western hemisphere have to understand that you can’t resolve conflict by fighting. You will lose everything you worked hard for especially when the odds are stacked against you. The only Athlete in Jamaican history of track and field to get major money from their sponsors is Usain Bolt. Elaine Thompson is a close second. So fighting would definitely affect your career and make it worse for other Jamaicans coming up. Black countries rely heavily on sponsorship and are discriminated against. At the End of the day America is still a white country. Learn how to play your cards and leave it all on the track.

Clearly, there is no love lost between Jamaican and American athletes. This is especially evident from some of the comments made by many of the American supporters under some of these posts. I can't for the life of me understand this entitled sense that they, alone, are deserving of winning. A very good example of that attitude is reflected in a deeply delusional remark made here recently about America 'protecting the Caribbean'. The obvious subtext being, we should be grateful and shut up and allow them to do as they please; trick is, only folks drunk on American imperialism and anti-Blackness who could utter such a statement with a straight face. It is evident they don't know the history of America's presence in the region, and so will say as much foolishness as it suits them - which is curious, given so many Americans are also unwelcomed in their own country! You would think this would cause them to be humble and reflect more on our similarities, rather than weaponising their difference! SMH! Nevertheless, this same attitude translates to the field of play. If you haven't already read it, pick up a copy of Beyond a Boundary, by C. L. R. James. That should give some perspective on the role of sport between unevenly matched political (and economic) opponents. That the Americans must resort to these off-the-field antics tells you already that they know Jamaica is not to be played with; but more importantly, it says they are worried. We are in their heads and they can't abide it.

You may only need to take a knee and run out the clock. No known "Democracy" has lasted for longer than 250 years. Most met the same fate.....economic calamity followed by the election of an "authoritarian " type of leader. America is 247 years old thanks in no small part to those ancestors of slaves who have fought tirelessly throughout the years for not only freedom and equality but the very right to even exist. But despite all of that, the current political climate in the US would seem to reflect that which has already played out in history time and time again.

Please be for real. If anything Americans are intimidated by Jamaicans. There is enough hate and drama in this sport, everyone spoke about sha'carri's attitude and after all her growth and maturity, her public no.1 enemy is still Jamaicans. This is why I always say lyles should never change for anyone; they won't like him until he is no longer a threat to medals. Judging by sha'carri's hair in the video, I can make a guess that this did not happen recently. We've all seen the Jamaicans and Richardson show each other respect publicly, but some of you just like drama. This is only a distraction to your own athletes, the only athlete I see thriving from drama is noah, and I doubt you are trying to give him any extra motivation.

When did this happen? I was under the impression that they were friends, which would make sense if this was an old video. Sha carri has shown alot of maturity but people will always use the past to keep her in a box. Most Jamaicans already don’t like her and discredited her win last year. I don’t think pushing this negativity is the best contribution to the sport, its good for Netflix though lol

The SPRINT doc series only highlighting Americas world championship exploits and only interviewed the Jamaicans as a cameo just to make it seem even. To be honest if you watch the entire series is based solely on Noah Lyles and Shacarri Richardson. Other athletes like Lamont Marcel Jacobs who has been nursing many injuries throughout the past few years and Zharnel Hughes were mentioned. To me the series is trying make it seem that the only American faces can only lift the track and field sport.
