The breakdown on Emotional Mugger is unbelievable, completely subverts the bizarre ridiculousness of the start of the performance into a pure, focused, beautiful psych rock lazer beam to the melted face we all found ourselves in possession of in that moment. And then Big Baby Man lol. What a wild ride.

I remember at the time being like "what the hell, Ty?" because Cheryl's trying to do an interview, and he's just totally derailing it. Later on, I loved it, and I come back to this perfomance a lot. Next time he came, he apologized and was like "I'll do a real interview this time, Cheryl" and said he got calls from friends thinking he was on drugs like "are you okay?

This is the single most "perfect" KEXP set I've seen. It's effortless, masterful, and blows the KEXP 4th wall making the viewer aware of the artifice of it all, using various effects, including the disgusting and the use of camera angles that inevitably show other camera angles to make the viewer aware of convention and how babyish the whole r&r thing can be. The result is joyful irony and fucking good rock.

A contemporary Eno era Roxy Music IMHO...even with the crazy fly glasses on King Tuff doing a Manzanera. What I am trying to say is THIS FUCKING RULES!!! The DJ seems like a deer caught in the headlight...maybe she needs to play more of that 'sensitive beard music' that KEXP is so famous for.
