The fact that Ty was able to raise not one but TWO successful Kickstarters to rerelease the first two games on modern consoles shows that he could EASILY have an amazing comeback. He needs the KAO the Kangaroo treatment.

I'm just gonna be honest, as an Australian this game and the series make me really really fucking proud. Seeing so many people outside of Australia knowing about and loving a game born and bred here is such a great feeling. Hell, I remember back when I went to Melbourne's ACMI as a kid and saw the stop-motion zoetrope with all the Ty characters, it blew me away, since it was so great seeing something I recognised as a gamer in reality - and I'm sure some international fans would have been the same way back then.

This series is honestly something special to me, 'cause alongside SpongeBob Revenge of the Flying Dutchman, Crash: Wrath of Cortex & Spyro 3. Ty 1 was one of, if not my very 1st games I ever played! So seeing these games become relevant again in recent years, it's truly amazing to see! And being given the chance to finally play Ty 4, is gonna be interesting for sure. While I still find some enjoyment with Ty 3, and oddly enough I recently found out a couple months ago that Krome actually put in a post credits scene teasing the next game at the time. I did wind up shifting views & came to the same opinion that Ty 2 was the best game in the trilogy, while still enjoying the others just as much! Also, there was apparently a TV show in the works when Ty 2 released. Since it was long believed to be cancelled, I asked Krome themselves about it on Twitter a few years ago, and this is what they said - "We stopped trying to find a distributor for it because there was no interest for it at the time and we moved on to other projects. Nothing to do with EA or Activision, It's just that TV networks were the only options back then." It's sad it didn't come to fruition, but it's an interesting piece of Ty history regardless. So here's hoping a Ty 5 can finally happen someday! Awesome video by the way! :)

Not going to lie, Ty was my first real experience learning about Australia and Australian culture. As an American, I’ve been referring to the toilet as the dunny pretty much my whole life now. It introduced me to a whole new way of life, so similar yet so different. I have been studying Australian history for years and to this day, I keep up to date with current events, and I am very close to submitting a job application to a job in Brisbane. With Bluey on the air it occurred to me recently that my daughter very well may have a similar experience.

I was telling my husband about this game, because I just realized after watching this the first time that the game shared the nickname his parents gave him.... and not once did it click in ten years. I remember reading about how the game was made in Australia in a gaming magazine. Had to be Nintendo power, though I remember picking up a nother magazine here or there so can't really remember... I actually remember loving the game. The Sonic style of the main character caught my attention, and I loved how the slang didn't feel... stereotypical? My only real exposure to Australia outside of the game had been crocodile dundee, and people quoting it, paroding it....yeah.... Get the same vibes from a kids show called Bluey as I got from this game. Even if my only exposure to the Ty series was the first game, charming is definitely the word I'd use. Had no clue it had so many sequels! There's a whole lot I missed when I entered the workforce in the height of the recession. The fact I know I filled a sketchbook full of characters from the game at the time shows it stuck with me for a while at least. I lost most of my drawing books in moves and this was sadly one, but considering the only other series to get that level of love were Mario, sonic and Zelda..... that really says something, too.

Great video but One correction. The Legend of Spyro was published by Sierra. They wouldn't be merged into Activision until their parent company Vivendi acquires Activision in 2008. Now this doesn't change the core of the part of the video where this is brought up, as Krome would still have their hands full with trying to make Ty 3 the same time as a high-profile game that was definitely draining more workmen hours than their own IP, but thought of mention it for before someone "Well actually" and dismisses the whole video because of a minor factual error in a theory.

WOW, WHAT TIMING!!! I actually JUST bought the games on Steam a little while ago, and I've been having fun playing it. I'm halfway through the game already reliving through my childhood, and seeing this pop up in my recommended feed is something else! I'm going to have fun watching this. :)

As someone who played the original game on his old PS2 as a kid back around the time it came out (and got the remaster of it on Steam six years ago), I thank you for doing your part in exposing this series to more people. I never really _beat_ the game my first go-around, though-- just found cheats online, got to the later parts of the game early, and didn't have a fair playthrough until I got the remaster. It was certainly a good way of exposing me to Australian culture, however. As for the other games, I just never got around to picking them up the first time around, but I intend to do so with their remasters at some point, even more so after this video reminded me that I still have to. I realize you didn't have the most glowing appreciation for TY 3, but I'll get it anyway, if only to further support Krome's future efforts. They still seem to believe this ol' thylacine has life in him yet, and with their Kickstarter successes and the ongoing platformer resurgence, I kinda can't blame 'em. I may not be a fan of this series the way I am with Sonic or Ratchet & Clank, but it still had a hand in my formative years, and I did wind up playing some of Krome's other projects (their Legend of Spyro games and Blade Kitten, namely), so I'm certainly rooting for their future success.

i have such good memories of the first ty game!!! we grew up with the gamecube version and i loved the music and characters. i didn't even know there are sequels til i found the remastered on steam a couple years ago! 3 was still in early access but i immediately bought 1 and 2. it's so fun being able to return to that childhood and have more to enjoy as well. we had so much fun with ty i found it weird learning the game's not more popular

Makes me happy to see the series getting so much love. I grew up shouting SUUUUUUIEEEEEEEEEEE and none of my classmates got it. but more than that, it left an impression and that part about "we want american kids saying Aussie slang" couldn't be closer to exactly what happened.

I absolutely adored Ty when I was a kid. It was the first GameCube game I actually beat, since as a child I'd gotten stuck on a lot of other games. I remember blasting through Bush Rescue and Night of the Quinkan and loving them both to bits. Glad to see someone talking about these games. They were for me what Banjo-Kazooie was for so many others.

I remember renting this game a bunch before ever owning it and it's pretty nostalgic for me. Random fact, this was the first game to make me start using the analog stick; up until that point I was still just using the D-Pad in every game, but specifically remember being surprised when Ty wouldn't move and I had to use the stick instead :P

This made me very happy. I always adored this franchise. Never played 3 in full or 4 whatsoever, and I think that if Krome can get a fifth game that they can do whatever they want, and I think I will immediately buy them on digital storefronts because this franchise is so cute and wonderful.

Ty two and three are the games that hold the majority of my childhood gaming memories. Sitting half a foot away from our old crt, feeling the cancer causing screen snap and crackle as I curiously run my hand across the screen for the 100th time. The feeling of my legs losing circulation from sitting crisscross applesauce for 4 hours straight. Ugh what I wouldn’t do to go back it time even for a day…

Thank you for covering a very old game series in my childhood, it says a lot when even at 6 to 7 years old I still vividly remember Ty and Sly despite how simple they are and the gameplay loop just being incredibly fun, boomerang combat was such a novelty and even to this day I still remember the messy sfx mix it had. I spent an actually unholy amount of hours as a child just bearing with my terrible sense of direction (that I didn't know I had at the time) for all 3 games and I still somehow made it to the finish line, and now that I know there's Steam remasters I may get them one day once they're on sale, I want there to be a Ty 5 and see this franchise become something bigger, which is what it honestly deserves.

This was fascinating and an absolute treat to watch. Your research and production value here are outstanding! That being said, omfg I LOVE this series. I've dumped countless hours into Ty 1 & 2 on console (I have Ty 3, but didn't play it much partially because of the hack and slash combat, but also partially because the original console version is SO dark sometimes I can't see what's going on) and I also played the life out of Ty 2 & 3 on GBA (a GBA version of Ty 1 doesn't exist, to my knowledge). I picked up the HD remasters of both Ty 1 and 2 on PS4 the day they dropped, and I got Ty 1 again on Switch. These games were some of my absolute favorites when I was growing up, and it was weird that no one else I knew had even heard of them. It makes me really happy to see Ty's resurgence over the last couple of years, and to watch people experience Ty for the first time in all his aussie glory. Here's to Ty 5!

I've been putting off watching this for a while (No real reason, just had it on my watch list and never got around to it). I'm glad I finally watched it though since I did learn a fair bit about the series, despite loving the series (Well, the first two games anyways lmao), and still having the PS2 versions of them, I'm glad that TY is getting some love again, a classic game that's hella underrated and could be so much more. If we do get a true next TY game, it could be so much more considering how far technology has come in the last 15 or so years. Here's hoping they are working on something new for him and here's to further hoping it'll be amazing. Thanks for the video Golden, ya helped me learn more about a series from my childhood. Keep up the good work.

THANK YOU for bringing more eyes to this series, especially with the remasters coming out somewhat recently. This was one of the first games I ever got for ps2 as a kid, and a favorite. I've always thought it was a shame how little attention it ended up getting. I didn't even know there was a potential Ty 5, or even a *resurgence* happening! I thought the remakes through kickstarter were going to be it, so I haven't kept my eyes on the franchise
