Body, Bill McIlroy's Brown Olive Fronz 15mm
Wing, Dyed Brown Rabbit Zonker Strip

Thanks Davie, Even your leeches are a cut above. I haven't seen that fronze before. I do like it, reminds me of olive brown ice dub. I could make a dubbing brush out to that and it would be close enough. All the best to you and your family. God bless. Sean

great leach pattern Davie, love the way you tied it using the body material as rib matuka style. I think it looks pretty, more so in a fish's mouth, as I'm sure it will end up. you have many tricks up your sleeves. Thanks!

One tip on this, for anyone who's going to tie it, make sure you get the right rabbit strips. They make a with grain cut, and a cross grain cut. You want the with grain cut, so the hair lays parallel with the strip. I've made that mistake before, and it's very annoying.

We have Leeches in our Reservoir and the trout do eat them - thanks for the pattern Davie I will try it out and report back

Hi Mike, I was using the Tiemco Razor Scissors which I really do like but they have a flaw as I have to warn you I have broken a couple of pairs by dropping them on the floor as the points are very fine and can break quite easy, it's a shame as they are a perfect length for me... Thanks Davie. I have a few longer patterns but they do seem to suffer tail nipping. What do you think of the snake patterns emerging and how fly tiers are making them? I know these have been popular for salmon but seem massive for still water trout yet I knew a few who have caught a brownie or two when rods have been straight!

Hi Paul Dickens, I have tyed a few snakes over the years in different styles and to be honest I hate tying them though I will be tying some in the next couple of weeks or so as I'm waiting for some rabbit and I'll film one... All the very best Davie

Hi Pilgrin Falcon 68, I don't have a video showing how to bar rabbit strip but I do have one showing how to do it on a saltwater fly, I would do it the exact same why...I hope this is of some help to you... All the very best Davie..

Hi Branko Radulovic, I tyed this fly for friends that were fishing for seatrout in Argentina though I have tyed them for brown trout and rainbows as well in slightly smaller sizes.. All the very best Davie..
