Oh thank you for this video. The only way I could think of tying up involved cross the strings over to where they should be placed. Man, what a mess that would have been. I get it now.

I have a new-to-me loom that looks exactly like this one. I have no instructions, so this is VERY helpful. How are the treadle cords (on back order at the moment) attach to the lamms? Do you have to knot them on, or do you just loop the cords through?

Sorry for the delay. This is mostly for my students so I don't come here often. We use loop cord for our treadle cords. They are put through the eye hook and the end inserted into one of the loops in the cord and tightened. But I am sure that you have figured that out by now :)

@@jackiebourquenbccd4216 Thanks! Yes, I figured it out. The cords came with knots that don't fit through the hole, so that worked, or at least I think so... I still haven't warped this loom. Hope to get it done before I've had it for a year (in a few weeks). I joined my local weaver's guild, and found some weavers somewhat near me for backup. I just need to take that step.

I was just gifted a loom that looks similar to this. There is a counter balance castle situation at the top, 4 heddles, 6 pedals and there was no clear tie up done below... Heddles, loose to lamms, lamms loose to pedals. I don't know what kind of loom this is, countermarche seems not quite right. But the question I had most was how long to prepare these cords. You mentioned pedals should tie up roughly half way between lamm and ground, I can work with that. Heddle to Lamm... Do I aim for parallel to ground?

Yes! Lamms should be parallel to the ground.
