My heart aches for every LGBT teen and young adult who's had to wrestle with a religion that told them they were wrong because of their sexuality. Religion can inspire some great acts of kindness and selflessness, but it can also inspire pointless hatred and inner torment. Great song, Tyler.

I hope you can find safe spaces where you can be true to yourself in the meantime and trust me we have a great community and you will be able to find so many people, if you haven’t already, who can help you. We’re here for each other and coming out was the best choice I ever made bc of the friends and found family I have now. You can do this even though is so hard.

I was just exposed to his work and I love it but I knew nothing about his faith crisis and such as I’m a never-mo but I am queer and can relate to my religious family members believing I will go to hell however they are kind enough to just think it and not say it. I couldn’t imagine the pain Tyler experienced and he communicates is so well in this album that even I find things to relate to. He’s doing more than the average that’s for sure.

He's said they're still a thing, his band mates have been giving him space to do a solo album. Excommunication comes from his own darkness, not necessarily theirs, so he's going solo for this record but they're gonna get back together.

He's still in pain, he's still ripping on the Church. Right now he's obsessed with that. He will get over that an then progress. Yes he's true to himself and I agree that his music is really good. I know Mormons in his position, although if they sang you'd run for the door....What I said is that there are Mormons who leave and others who stay behind and fight for people like Tyler! You look at James the Mormon, he's a Mormon rapper his way is to stay in the Church. Tyler's was to leave and rip on it.

Dave Richards i completely see where you're coming from with that. He has obviously received a lot of hate.... it's funny i just saw a segment on the news that stated the Mormon church is now allowing gays...... weird timing. i don't have enough experience or knowledge to truly make a judgment...

Not all Mormons are stupid! And not all Mormons hate gays. I don't know if he received a lot of hate, he was disillusioned because the Church said that gay couples who have kids or gay parents can't be baptised or receive any of the "Sacraments," until they become adults. Personally that's so stupid it's mind-boggling. A Mormon kid with gay parents is raised by gay parents so if he/she's 18 they are still raised by Mormon gay parents. I also saw that segment that the Church leaders are kind of softening their position. Things will change but that doesn't change the fact that Tyler is in pain but he's super talented!

Dave Richards, the mormon church is the fullness of the gospel. It is unchanging and perfect. If the church is softening it's voice for member retention could it be that the church is not perfect?

Again, he makes the most beautiful songs. Religion can harm you by believing in a particular faith or worship, without regard to those who follow that same religion. All I know is that if you can make art out of the history, scientific technology and in the twenty-first century, you're awesome. Never let someone tell you what you should be, who you should believe in or what you should say/do. He is gorgeous (inside and out) forever and ever. Your fans love you (and,yeah I am one) more than you could ever fathom. You're beautiful from your soul to your gorgeous countenance. Thank you for showing raw emotion in the musical art that signifies the definition of what is real, true and absolutely beautiful.
