He actually retired it. A Madea funeral was his last Madeaa movie and he did a Made-a farewell play tour all over the country. That was the last stage play with Madea in it. She’s retired now 😢

Some decades go, our mother past way suddenly. It was Just tragically crazy In 95. Most understand how horrendous this was for us, it was all so sudden. We went through grief stages normally as they came and left. It’s not static. So about a little under a month later, my sister brings over a Madea DVD. I had never seen Her before. Mind you now this Wound was viciously fresh. Well she put in the DVD OR VHS? and all five of us siblings laughed SO HARD we screamed. We screamed laughing until we cried. We almost past out. I cannot explain it. As if The video gave us permission to smile. To Laugh without guilt Or Shame. We over did the laughing in fact. The tears were the pain of loosing mommy. We were not laughing at her demise. It’s hard to explain other than it was a bitter sweet release a cathartic if you will. And it marked the beginning of healing. We all simultaneously understood. When the movie was over. Bra cause we to cry them all hugged and laughed. We talked about how mommy would have e loved this movie. We felt her presence as well her approval. She had always loved Flip. We fell asleep. I will never forget this and if mother could have watched she would have been very happy. She had a heck of a sense of humor. ( She also loved “Smile though your heart is broken”) Thank you so much Mr. Perry. This was very therapeutic Peace and Blessings. Tha k you Steve.
