Hey Tyler. Nice video, can you make a video on joints used in concrete structures??. Greetings and keep up the good work
@TylerLey4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Luis! I will see what I can do. Joints are complicated and the best way to explain them is with strut and tie modeling. That takes several videos to explain. =/

Love it! as a builder, I like to know this shit. Would love to know more about how rebar in columns work, if you ever want to do a video on that some day. I see commercial stuff going on and rebar for columns look pretty complicated. Always been curious as to the methodology.

How can I bend basalt rebar? I thought it's more.. snappy? I don't think I can do the hook-think with the basalt-rebar.

Can someone help chime in on this. I'm very naive about concrete. At my house I poured 3 raised garden beds (floors & 14" walls) Used rebar on 2 of them & not on the 3rd because I ran out & longevity wasn't super important to the wife. All forms were left for 1 week, concrete all the same (sakcrete high strength concrete 60# bags). The beds with rebar both failed and cracked after about 10 years. The one with zero rebar looks brand new like the day the forms were removed. Is there any scenario where certain type of rebar reacts to certain type of concrete to accelerate failure? I'm so confused on this one.

Thanks for the video! I have a situation with my garden walls, that has led to the following questions: The render has started to peel off due to rusting grid reinforcement that was put on the chest-high wall to hold the render. What's your opinion on reinforcement in such low-load applications? Is it necessary? Are there better options to prevent the render from peeling off in the future? Thank you

Consider a series of children's books - Worm 101, 110, 200, 220, 315, 330 etc... by the time dad has read and re-read this series during their growing years they will be allowed test-out credits at OSU for their degree in Concrete. " Municipal Grade Concrete ' did not use rebar [or any other structural strengtheners] yet it was Nei indestructible. Able to withstand a nuclear explosion without failure. Why don't we use that now ? Since Rebar is the main reason water permeation is so destructive to concrete that has Rebar. Iron Oxide expansion. PS: what was the mixture for that concrete ?
@Tigersfan8294 жыл бұрын
What are you referring to when you say municipal grade concrete? What was the location of this concrete?
