Came up mint mate! Perfect timing for me 😂 just going through the design process now for my new canopy build! My main motivation is reducing weight so that I can have a tinnie on top and still be legal towing the van. And because my import one is absolutely f***ed from our last 6mnths of touring.

Your tray and Ute look great mate! You are a great role model for showing patience and just getting out there and enjoying camping/4 wheeling before worrying about how you look and what your car looks like as a camper /4WDer … You’ve done the hard yards now so it’s time to enjoy the rewards of setting up your Ute and tray exactly as it could be done to work best for you (& look sick at the sametime). Keep up the good work champ.

Just finished my canopy build with everything done 70lt water tank, ladder to the rhino rack lights on the doors with an Anderson plug in canopy with a clear view drop down fridge side. { many more extra's not listed }more than happy with it. Just came back from a trip to Sundown everything worked great . Enjoy your new setup It's so much better than a tub and worth ever cent you have spent.

Ok, american here. Diehard nissan guy, own a D40. Couple things. 1. I love the tray canopy as much as I miss the tub. 2. Losing the receiver is just crazy to me. 3. Where are you going to carry firewood? 4. Just how indifferent will your son be?? Love your work, love your family values, love your style. Be safe, shiny side up rubber side down bud!

Great video Tyler. I'd be putting your food storage and cooker next to the fridge rather than your fire pit. Keep one side for food and cooking, the other as your utility side.

That length canopy with open section at rear is the best of both worlds👍. Good way to keep the weight down by having a permanent fixture and no head board. My 13 yo daughter wants a ute as her first car, this setup would be perfect for me...I mean her in a few years time 👌😊

I think what many people don't consider with a stand up fridge is the lower efficiency; every time you open the door the cold air flows straight out. The warm air replacing it needs to be cooled. I am amazed that Australian built Trailblazer Fridges by NorCoast Refrigeration are not more widely used. With a 50mm thick lid and 75mm thick walls and floor they are very efficient. Other wise a sweet setup. We are always balancing GVM which you have considered well.

The Nav looks really good with the canopy Tyler mate, I'd go with a 250-300kg GVM upgrade just incase you decide to take a camper trailer on any future videos. I have found that unpainted ally checker plate tool boxes in the sun on a hot day and you cannot leave your hand on it because they get so hot, I think that an upright fridge that you cannot get an insulated cover for will be working a lot more than your chest fridge ( just something to consider). I had to build my own setup because I could not afford to purchase what I required to meet my needs. your setup is fantastic and I think you will enjoy it very much.

That came out so good, completely transforms the look you must be so stoked with that. A good tweak would be another hinge on the lids of the jerry can holders so you can just open the top and use them to store firewood. Enjoy your trip mate. 👍

Just about to turn the puter off and there's Tyler with his new canopy...beauty !!...hit pause...get cold drink, and enjoy. A mate and I went up to Glasshouse mountains today for a play. That was a fun day. You are gonna love that new exit angle mate. It might be a bit more trouble getting into your rooftop. Ladder all the way now. Glad to hear that Dad's MUX was a reasonably inexpensive fix. No wonder they are so expensive, when you see the amount of work that goes into them. It's good to see you so excited about your new build. The only difference between us and boys is the cost of our toys...lol Looking forward to your next video mate. I like the alloy canopies aesthetically (I've come around to them, I used to think they were hideous) but I'm a mountain biker and half the reason I have a ute is to throw the bikes in the back without worrying about anything so I could never personally replace the tub with a canopy.

Hi Tyler, love the new set up. What about a drifta drawer with their built in slide out table(under the drawer) that you can use for a bench as well, same side as the fridge. Then you have all the kitchen gear on one side, (dry food box/bag could go on top) with the water tank tap on same side under the tray. A long alloy tray above the fridge and drawer to put chairs, camera stand etc. Other side could have boxes for spare parts etc and your battery system (if you're getting it out of the cab). 4wd set ups are my favourite🙂. Don't forget the wheel bag/bin you can now have strapped on, enjoy.

Good work Tyler - I drive a Hilux but it’s so refreshing to see.Navara for a change and I’m doing the same setup at the moment. - so much better than tub and ARB canopy with me breaking the rear window $650 for a new one) and being short the tray/canopy height is brilliant for me - John in SA

Exactly what I was going to do, along with a 300mm chassis extension, but changed mind after seeing the short-comings of towing a heavy load up some steep-ish hills. I was convinced tray and canopy would be lighter than my tub and factory canopy. In the end it doesn't matter now. MITS canopy and tray exactly the same was 17k....... Rig looks great......
