I love how kookie and strange your videos are. I'm not here for actual sience, I'm here because I want to know if I can make popcorn in the dryer and watch a very sympathetic, cool guy cut things in half with a giant swort to test glue. I love your videos and the almost childlike wonder they bring with them. They brighten up my day. Thanks for making content and please keep doing you.

@TJskillz169

@@Eltonbang69 well, it could be that the glue isn't curing well due to too high of a temperature at that pressure, since lowering the pressure would lower the temperature needed to melt the glue.

I like that you explain your reasoning behind stuff and don't just spout scientific crap at us. Its also thanks to you that i'm apparently going to have to break up with E6000 as that was my holy grail glue. But after seeing this that will be changing.

You need to boil water until it freezes in the vacuum chamber. All you do is put about an inch of water in a glass or plastic cup and put it under a vacuum. It will start to boil and the temperature drops while it’s boiling until it freezes. It takes a little while to freeze depending on the size of vacuum pump you use.

Pro-tip. Lag an eye bolt into your garage floor (they make covers for them so you don't trip all the time, typically sold for tying down motorcycles) then mount a manual wench on the wall, still using your reducing pulleys, and you'll have smooth pull with a much higher weight limit. Bonus, you won't have to constantly lug heavy weights around and pinch yourself on chains.

Cool video. This kinda tested glues not clamped properly, in a vacuum chamber. In general, the thinner the glue line the stronger the bond. Those that foamed up pushed the blocks apart leaving the walls of the bubbles as a contact area. Wood glue and epoxy (JB without filler) are often vacuum bagged for laminations. Is e6000 a contact cement? It's possible the vacuum extracted the solvent allowing it to cure where the blocks in air never had a chance to cure before they were stacked together.

The glue that was stronger in vacuum was interesting. I would note though, it look like Tyler applied a "shock" load on the non vacuum bricks. (a shock load is a load applied very suddenly such as a car crash or a hard quick tug on a rope). Shock loads have more effect and will cause a material to fail quicker then slowly applying a load at a constant rate. In short, The E6000 (or what ever its called) could've failed so easily the first time round because Tyler pulled top hard and quickly on the rope. The other glues were interesting though. If you plotted the results, you could probably figure out a relationship. This might've been something that NASA and Space X have had to think about. All in all, good vid Tyler!
