LYRICS
I don't wanna be me anymore
Ever throwing at his home
Two glass houses, twenty stones
Fourteen yellow, six are blue
Could it be worse?.. Quite doubtful.
I don't wanna be me anymore
I don't wanna be me anymore
1-2
1-2-3-4.
Two steps forward, three steps back
Without warning, heart attack
He fell asleep in the snow
Never woke up, died alone
I don't wanna be me anymore
I don't wanna be me anymore
1-2
1-2-3-4.
[x2]
Please don't dress in black
When you're at his wake
Don't go there to mourn
But to celebrate
I don't wanna be me anymore
I don't wanna be me anymore
1-2
1-2-3-4.
I don't wanna be me anymore
I don't wanna be me anymore

This song is strangely comforting. It makes me feel like I'm not the only one wishing I could be someone else so I don't have to deal with everything in my life.

@Hentai Senpai I bet not. The state of the world right now along with personal hardships is no doubt a lot to handle for just one person. I just want you to know that you shouldn't beat yourself up over a lack of motivation if you have it. Or if you're in school and haven't completed your work, it's so understandable. Your mental health matters more than work :)

I remember being in high school, my mom dying my hair black, and my parents telling me I'd learn about goth. They started with Type-O Negative. I miss those days so much now. Not only did I bond with them, but I found a favorite band for life. :) My husband and I still listen to them to this day. I was lucky enough to get to see Peter Steele live before he passed away too. RIP Peter, we will always love you.

Dear Mr Steele. It's Been 13 years since you passed, its been over 2 decades since your music entered my life and stayed there completely. After I heard my very first Type O song I went to the record shop and purchased every single album made up to that point. Here I am still listening to you, here I am all these years later thinking of the man you we're and I remember watching an interview where you literally described me as your favourite type of person and that inspired me to work even harder than I already had been. Thank you for your time Mr Steele thank you for all the glimmers of hope you have ever given, thank you for every soul you have ever saved with something as simple as words. My deepest regards. Rob....

After seeing Ville Valo on a couple of top ten lists and having no idea who he was I ended up checking out Digital Versatile Doom and have been obsessed since. Also just discovered this song, in spite of having listened to a few Type O songs over the past 20 years. Better late than never my dude, even if we can't still see them live :)

One of the best bands to ever exist, a band that's usually categorized as "gothic metal" yet they've never been afraid to truly express themselves as something extraordinary. 14 years later and I'll still never get over Peter Steele departing us so soon. Fun fact: This came out not long after the series finale of Oz, "Exeunt Omnes", where Pete actually had a short cameo as one of Schillinger's thugs that confronts Alvarez in the gym.

Funny you mention wanting to sing an octave lower. I USED to have a 4 1/2 octave vocal range, and sounded like Geoff Tate (not as good as him, just the range). But then, my endocrine system shut down. I was put on Testosterone Therapy for life. It wrecked my voice, and destroyed my high range because it thickened my vocal cords. But there WAS one positive: it dropped my low range by about an octave and a half. So now I can sing lows like Peter. All in all, a fair trade-off to me, because I love Pete’s voice.

Performing is a great rush. You get addicted to that feeling and when it’s over, you are no longer that person. So you find ways to forget who you are until you can have that feeling back.
