I've only just reached 800 rating (been stuck at 600) and won all my last 11 games. At least 4 of those were from my opponent resigning the minute I took their queen. Like if there's anything I've learned, at this rating people mess up and blunder all the time so you still have a fighting chance even if you lose your queen. Also I get the feeling that my opponents probably get super excited if I ever blunder my queen and then that distracts them for the rest of the game and I end up winning.

@@goldenbeardofficial8541 I'm not sure but I think it's because castling is considered to be two move in one. Same as the pawn moving two squares forward, so that's why you can take _en passant_ When you castle during the "intermediate" move you can consider the king's still in check, so that would not be allowed. (I suppose that's also why you can't castle if a square between the rook and the king is threatened)

@@opfirefly6611 Here is an interesting idea. Grandmasters can try to teach little 900’s (pretty much the ordinary person) how to play better chess, but it’s super easy for them to make assumptions on how you think. An 1100 rated player would not make assumptions. They only know the difference between 1100 and 900. That’s because they know when the 900 makes a bad odor weird-looking move (an inaccuracy) and they sometimes know how to exploit it. So then the 900 gets advice on only improving to 1100 (which is a huge improvement to be honest, any +200 rating improvement is impressive). I’m not super good, just 1150 blitz on chess.com, but if you want to play me a few 5|5 games, I can tell you what I think about each move you played so you can see where it contrasts with what you think, even if you win the games or are actually more accurate in your thinking processes. It would just be to give advice on specific tactical and positional concepts that I particularly understand, which would generally be better than those of a 900. But then there are 1300’s (and better) who would crush me and could give me their advice, so know that my advice would not be perfect. I can only really determine what moves would be bad for you. Message me on chess.com if you’re interested in trying this. Username is NapoleanBlownApart.

@@brysiek5579 I know chess rules, but I don't understand much here either. The moves happen so fast and there's a lot of extra bits and zooms. @Mr_PotatoMaster

@@MrZerodaim The icons are what stockfish (chess bot) thinks about your play, like if you do a very stupid one (like me) and then you ask for a analysis of the game he will show that “??” The black and white bars are the points, if white is bigger than black so white is winning the game The arrows are the moves that can be made, is a visual way to think, like: “hum, if black’s king moves there I move my queen there and I win the game. You are supposed to look to all of this, but the main joke is that there’s a very good play from white that wins the tower (the king must move and the king is blocking the attack in the tower, so when it moves the tower becomes exposed)

White won black's rook at the end. When white checked black, on black's next turn he is forced to move his king or block. Since he can't block, and black's king cant move to defend black's rook, white will win the rook on the next turn. Black knew this, so he just quit the game. This is why you have to pay attention for pieces that are on the same line or diagonal. That evaluation bar gave white +5.9 after that play, which means that it's about the same as being 6 pawns ahead, and should be an easy win. But when you and your opponent suck at chess, it's not worth resigning because someone will probably fuck up again later.

@@bromatath4901 Yes, but black’s bishop is still pinned to the king after recapturing the knight with the pawn. Either black unpins by moving the king back to the 8th rank (in which case the bishop is taken), or black defends the bishop with a pawn (in which case you play g4 to take the pinned bishop with the pawn), OR black moves the king to the 6th rank to unpin and defend the bishop at the same time (but that’s just leaves black’s king wide in the open). In either outcome, black is at a disadvantage of some sort, which is why Qf3 is among the best moves white could play instead of trading queens. I didn’t know Qf3 was the best move until I read it here. But I can easily see why it’s best now that I know 😂

@maxkho00

@@fuwafuwa2299 Bruh he is up an entire rook. Regardless of whether he manages to wipe out Black's pawns (which he will not be able to do immediately due to Kf7 followed by Kg6), he will win the game simply because he is up an entire rook. No calculation required to understand that whatsoever. Also, going for Black's pawns with the rook in that position is a bad idea as it just wastes time and achieves nothing. What White should do is simply push his a pawn towards promotion, which Black can only stop by sacrificing a bishop. So much for your "thinking three moves ahead", right?

@@mapron1 A "gambit" is where a player sacrifices material in order to get a better position or a lead in material (a queen's gambit for example is where you lose a pawn for control of the centre), however when a player accidentally blunders a piece they will often joke that they have in fact "gambited" rather than losing it outright. Alexandria Botez is a famous chess streamer who gained infamy by blundering her queen a few times (she's a Women's FIDE master), and so coined the term "Botez Gambit" for when a player blunders a queen. As for the video the player didn't actually gambit they just traded queens, but in the final move black blundered his rook as it was about to be taken once black got out of check.
