Typical Old Russian Neighborhood - have a walk around with us

We decided to hang in a quiet district close to the city center with many typical 5-story apartment blocks built in the USSR period. It might look a bit creepy for those of you who aren't used to seeing buildings and neighborhoods like that, but it is common in Russia and I'm sure that we have them built in every single city. They are considered quite nice neighborhoods most of the time. It is always possible to find something interesting, authentic, or weird in these places. We found a lot of birds, illegal building extensions, fences made of tires, many cats, and spent a nice time on the old playgrounds with our little Agatha.
Hope you've enjoyed the walk with us💛

@@Jessica-dd8xo the Netherlands are not controlled by our government either 😅 it's just a linguistic peculiarity in some languages (die Schweiz in German as well and some other names of the countries in this language), but the wish of the Ukrainians not to use the article in front of the name of their country, just like with many other countries, must be respected, that goes without saying ❤️
@esgee3829

@@vera8415 in the US at least, a strange linguistic change happened at collapse of the Soviet Union where US officials and foreign relations experts outside government went from 'the Ukraine' to "Ukraine'. I remember reading an article in Time a long while ago where it was explained that Soviet officials referred to Ukraine SSR as 'the Ukraine' in english as a way to linguistically subjugate it. And Ukraininans and Ukraininan diaspora correct others who slip back into 'the Ukraine'. So I think I understand where Jessica was coming from. Perhaps this historical perspective helps. And I'm sure that Time article could elucidate the issue much better (but I won't search and post a link here because yt doesn't like us sending eyeballs outside its box now).

@@esgee3829 this is a very interesting and trustworthy version, but from how well Russian officials speak English I can suspect that they just didn't get how to use articles. The Russian language doesn't have any, so it's pretty difficult for us to learn how to use them. Maybe it's both, who knows. Btw I noticed that on some goods made in the US and the UK it says 'Made in USA' or 'Made in UK', and it made me wonder about the reason, gotta google it as well 🤔 'Russian is dead hard to learn,' they said. 😁

While I love Vika and I enjoy seeing her videos, Paula's comment here floored me. Russia is the aggressor. The country is to blame. They came with military forces to another country (once in 2014 and now in 2022). They started a WAR. Their military is killing Ukrainians. Including civilians, kids. Using inhumane weapons (look up what is thermobarric/vacuum bomb; they dropped those on cities). Nobody is questioning that. Wake up. And while I guess you meant Russians, and not Russia.. Sad news here, too. If they are not protesting, they are supporting Putin's war. So they are to be held responsible along with him.

At the 2.17! We have those exact same things in México! Like, exactly those, same pattern! We also use them to delimit a zone and plant things. I wonder if it's just a coincidence or there is some history behind that. Stay safe, so sorry for what is happening! :(

I wonder how many wonderful Russian people say: не моя война = NOT MY WAR. We all carry love in our hearts, we are all one people, we all deserve to live. Put down your weapons and say no to all who wish you harm, and to the evil which enforce harm on others. Enough is enough, не моя война, NOT MY WAR.

I absolutely love everything about your channel Vika. Thank you for always speaking so openly from your heart and sharing your life with us. Most Americans understand that you're about as involved in the foreign policies of Russia as much as we are as average US citizens... which is little to none. Praying for peace but in the meanwhile, holding tight to the idea that all people, regardless of their country and their political leaders, want bright futures for ourselves and our children and it's that humanitarian bond that unites us.

Just wanted to tell you that your video where you talked about the recent events was very brave and I know you probably can't say as much as you'd like to. Here in the West, we are aware of the young generation of frustrated, educated Russians whose hands are bound by their government and that it is not _your_ war but _somebody_ else's. I just hope this senseless violence will end very soon and won't escalate further into other countries. You and your lovely family, stay safe and sane, despite the financial crisis with the Rubel. 🇦🇹 🇰🇷

Hello from Arizona! Firstly I just want to thank you for your wholesome, sweet content of you and your cute little family. I just watched your previous video on the crisis happening and I hope you know the majority of us know that the blame is not on your people. It is solely your government. I absolutely love Russian culture and watch a lot of Russian content. I have also been studying Russian since last year. That will not stop. I hope you also keep posting positive content throughout all of this and so not let the hate that may come your way get you down. Anyways stay safe. God bless, and much love from all the way in America. ♥️
