Suggestion - maybe put some numbers into circles for how many units are alive in that unit? (1/3 means 1 Skorpekh out of initial 3 is still alive) Or for a more visual style - a segmented ring inside the circle, each segment means 1 unit Same for characters with wounds maybe?

Love the delivery and the vibe, keep up the great work! Confused on the difference in CPs, at the start, also this was a surprise to me but the dataslate rules dont apply to Boarding actions, so for example necrons lose the “always on” protocol and go back to a very limited aura range. I play necrons main and one thing to consider with them when you had that epic reanimation roll vs the gaunts is you can remove the models that died then when they reanimate you can replace them in different spots, it’s one of my favorite things about warriors. You can reanimate them out of a fight, onto an objective, move block with them… Also the Chrono has a 4+ invuln natively so no need to use it on himself Also the skorpekh should have been able to pile in 3” to fight the gene stealers Anyway first time I’ve seen your channel, solid work!

Hey thanks for the tips! CP difference was due to Necrons having the underdog bonus, and Tyranids used one CP in their first turn, so by Necrons turn 1 they were 2CP ahead. Crazy that Boarding Actions doesn’t use the dataslate but good to know!

@19:39 It might be the camera angle, but I think the Skorpek Destroyers would have got their Pile In move because that would put them within 2" of an enemy across an open hatchway which allows the engagement range to be 2" instead of the normal less than 1".

If I understand correctly, because they did not charge and were not in engagement range when it came time to activate units, they do not get to be activated to fight and therefore pile in. The only time you can pile in when not already in engagement range is when you've charged with that unit, and the rules call out entering engagement range by way of opening a door as not being considered a charge, which is why the genestealers got to fight first.

@@return4887 Being "activated to fight" isn't just making your attacks. It's required to undergo the entire process of Pile In, Attack, and Consolidate. Requirements to be activated are "An eligible unit is one that is within Engagement Range of an enemy unit and/or made a charge move in the same turn." "When a unit fights, it piles in, then it makes close combat attacks, then it consolidates."

This game rocked. Real bad beat with the Tackyon Arrow, but dice do be dice. You guys always deliver excellent batreps. My only suggestion would be that I'd like a full shot of the board with all the models set up at the beginning. It just looks very cinematic to see the armies about to engage before the action starts. Rules note: when the warriors got 4 reanimations Brad could have pulled them out of engagement range without having to fall back, which would have let them shoot in the following turn. When Necrons reanimate the models get removed, then they get placed back within unit coherency, but you can put them anywhere so long as it's not within engagement range of a unit they're not already fighting. So Brad could have pulled the 4 in the front, then put them back behind the last one, effectively falling back for free. It wouldn't have made much difference in the game overall, but it's something neat I see Necron players do.

im 90% sure if you pull them out of engagement range the enemy can consolidate into them

@@return4887 Yeah, you right. It's possible they might not be able to get there with the consolidate, if you get far enough away or if there are other models closer that pull them away, but yeah they get to consolidate 3" after the reanimation.

I love your reports, they are entertaining and educational. I noticed some things in this video, though: 1. The necron warrior, who was removed in turn 1, could have rerolled that 1 on the reanimation throw, special rule for warriors. 2. In turn 3 when two skorpekh destroyers are were removed you could have removed the two at the rear so that the surviving one would have stayed in melee range. 3. In turn 4, why didn't the Overlord use its 4++ invul against the melee attack? 4. Did you forget reanimation protocols for the warriors fighting the genestealers?

I'd love to see 'em do a Necromunda Campaign! & 'Combat Patrol' is gonna be a new mode in 10th. Grab a Combat Patrol box & fight against your Opponents Combat Patrol box. Probably just Boarding Action minus the specific Space Hulk rule adaptations. But maybe not, we'll see!

So weird. I really didn’t know what was going on. Completely different from Kill Team. Turn 1, I was like, “Wait, he’s moving all his units?”, even though I knew there’s no alternating activations in 40k. You should try this One Page Rules style, just with alternating activations, not OPR combat system.

You made a ton of mistakes, of course, but these too will pass. You'll learn! One mistake (I'm pretty sure it's a mistake, unless Boarding Actions changes this rule or I'm just playing 100% ultra wrong) that I saw you consistently making is that you removed the ~models~ that were the targets of attacks. Only ~units~ can be targets of attacks, so if you have, say, a Warrior model standing on a point and you lose one model from that unit... it doesn't have to be THAT Warrior that you remove! This would have seriously helped the Necron forces in this match.
