Tyrin Turner's Son on Taking the Rap Name "Lil Caine," Dad Not Getting Credit

Actor Tyrin Turner sat down with VladTV for an exclusive interview alongside his son, who goes by the rap name "Lil Caine," as an homage to his dad's character in "Menace II Society." When DJ Vlad brought up that Tyrin used to rap for James Prince's Rap-A-Lot, Lil Caine was blown away, admitting that he didn't know his dad rapped, let alone put out an album.
The conversation then focused on Lil Caine's friendship with rapper's like Chief Keef, whom he says was justified in beating up producer Ramsay Tha Great. He then added that Ramsay is in the wrong for snitching on Keef, regardless of what happened.

You got that right! Obviously it depends on the individuals involved, but if you focus on media depiction or just news reports in most cases what you'll hear is the black father-son relationship is either nonexistent because the dad bailed on the mom or is locked up in prison or dead (one of the three) or if he is there he's extremely abusive to both the mom and the son and acts like he's the tyrant king on the mountain and everyone in the house has to cater to his every whim while he doesn't have to do shit for anyone, a very destructive, possessive, patriarchal way to raise (or rather splinter) a family, I'll say that much. The really sad thing is it's an intergenerational problem and you don't see much in the way of social services helping to alleviate it since I guess they feel there is little they can do without violating civil rights to things like privacy. Really sad as it leaves children born into these kinds of situations to fend for themselves rather than receive the caring protection and nurturing children and babies deserve just for being alive. =(

It's not that weird if you understand biology. The vocal tone is determined by the size of the larynx (voice box) so if it is smaller the voice is higher. If it is bigger, the voice is lower. My brother and I both have deeper voices than our father who's voice sounds a little like Cuba Gooding Jr. to me. My two dogs who died last year and were sisters (from the same litter) were like that too. One had a really deep bark and the other had a really shrill bark. So it's not that weird to me although I sometimes wish I had a higher pitched voice because I feel those are easier to hear than someone with a lower voice where it can feel like they have to yell for anyone to hear what they say (and then get accused of being mean and grouchy just for projecting their voice). Almost sounds like another form of discrimination in some ways (voicism instead of heightism, racism, or linguicism). If we could just accept and celebrate each other's genetic differences without being threatened by them then there would be so much stupid pettiness, violence, and destruction anger. Unfortunately some people lead with their emotions at all times and believe they are the center of everything so as long as that dynamic is in place then yeah you'll continue to have tragic bloodshed like what you see in some inner city areas and foreign war zones overseas today. Sad! =(

Yeah and I hate hearing my voice played back to me because it always sounds like I'm growling like some angry vicious dog. Makes me wonder why anyone would want to talk to me or be around me with such a naturally hostile sounding larynx no matter what my mood is. I guess my handsome face and innocent look and generic kindness at times makes up for the growl in my voice so I don't come off as threatening despite how my voice sounds. They should do an interview with the beautiful Erin Wiley. That would rock! Her part in the movie was small but significant as it lead to the protagonist's death in the end. She looked mighty pretty too. Would be cool if Vlad interviewed her about her career and how she got started and some of the other film roles she did. =)
