Tywin called Tyrion his son on exactly two occasions. Once when he assumed Jaime was a dead man, and once when he was facing down a loaded crossbow.

Notice the camerawork here. It’s aimed up at Tyrion and down at Tywin, giving the impression that Tyrion is taller than his father. Also, Tywin is looking up at Tyrion.

The only way this scene could have been better is when the cut to Tyrion reloading the crossbow, having his shadow be large. Adding to what Varys said earlier, that a small man can still cast a very large shadow.

Tywin played his last game of thrones. Fun fact: it aired on Father’s Day. Lol! I saw the last Season 4 episodes in IMAX, before Season 5 came out. Even though I already saw it, the sound of that crossbow going off in that auditorium made me jump out of my seat literally.

In an odd way, bad dad was right. She was a whore. She dumped Tyrion the moment he was accused and slept with bad daddy. Call it a survival method all you want, but she was not worthy of his love. He would murder for her, but what would she have done for him?

Not much unless she had something to gain from it. The show had Shae sweeter to Tyrion and clearly in love with him but in the book, she is as Tywin described her.

They retconned the story. Tyrion killed Tywin after he found out Jaime and Tywin lied that his first wife Tysha was a whore but she in truth did truly love Tyrion. Because of this, Tyrion swore he would kill Jaime one day and went on to personally murder Tywin.

This was probably the moment when the show first started going off the rails, with the omission of the Tysha revelation, which really weakens this scene overall. It was a really heartbreaking and brutal moment in the books, and I don't know why they ignored it despite the setup they had already established in the earlier seasons.

The Tysha incident happened when he was 16 years old. Two weeks after being married his father asked guards to put a silver coin in her hands for each man she got with. Season 4, Tyrion is probably in his early 30s. How exactly did this moment go off the rails on events which happened up to 15 years earlier?

All this "you're my son" and "i'm not your son" still makes me wonder if the theory that Tyrion is a Targaryen is true. Based on the lore, the Mad King wanted to fuck Tirions mother and somehow had "the right" to do it, because HE WAS THE KING (just like in Breaveheart). Tirion also didnt get attacked by the Dragon when he released them and said "he had a dream that he always wanted a dragon" and on the way to Danny a red priestess spotted him. Both of these moments hint for Targaryen blood.

Tyrion really was no son of tywin..He was Joanna's bastard with the Mad king..in the books it is more evident that tyrion has targaryen lineage..Tywin could never accept him as a Lannister as if he did it would bring utter shame to his family...neither could accept him for his utter hate for the Mad king..Poor Tywin was always grumpy for a very good reason. Also in the show after taking the first bolt Tywin finally uttered the truth 'You'r no son of mine'... And back when Tyrion tried releasing dany's dragons...the dragons did no harm to him cause they know targaryen blood.

unfortunately Tywin was a terrible evil man who butchered innocents and put homes to the torch, he was ruthless. Sure he did everything for his house and legacy but he did not care how many needed to suffer to accomplish this. He wanted Tyrion dead and having him executed was his opportunity, I think he only said all those things on the toilet to try and make it off the privy alive, talking down Tyrion as to regain control of the situation.

You can never trust the words of a sociopath. Tyrion saw through the lies at the very end. He put up his boundary, “say that word again” he struck to his guns. This isn’t Tywin being murdered, this is Tyrion breaking the chains of deceit once at for all.

Apparently the Maesters commented on several occasions how badly Tywin's innards smelled and that they were black. This was either a metaphor for the type of person he really was or that Oberyn had already begun poisoning Tywin.
