@@MrJiggerG not like this Derek all those adults saw what was going on and dropped the ball. If you're mentally challenged that is not cool. You know putting a thumbtack on somebody's seat. Glue his lock on his locker, yeah I get what you mean I was bullied too. And even in 62 some people still try that dumb s***. Some people are more vulnerable, anyone whoever's doing the Boolean sees that it escalates because they're not being held accountable or not being shut down as soon as it starts. But mostly no consequences for one's actions will let it continue on.

I'm willing to bet that at least 90% of the players on that team took part in or knew about hazing rituals on teams they played on at some point in their life. And they aren't being punished.
@nrXic

@@rl5579 That's possible and that makes the 10% a bit more courageous. They know they're dealing with a toxic culture that could bite them in the ass but they still put their neck out. It's not just the players that have been a part of hazing but the management as well because they've been in hockey for decades at all levels. So speaking up to management that has turned a blind eye to this in the past takes some guts.

What Rick forgot to mention... 1. *When Miller was drafted during the 2o2o NHL draft (by the Arizona Coyotes), Miller apologized to the 32 NHL teams, but he never apologized to Isaiah Meyer or his parents.* 🤮 2. The case landed in front of court and he only apologized when a surviellance video of him beating a Black boy surfaced, he plead guilty so that the video wouldnt be sent to the NHL teams. The Jevenile court Judge remarked concluded that Miller had absolutely no remorse for his actions against Meyer-Crothers and was merely upset that his reputation would be damaged by the situation. 🤮

The Athletic ran a great article, or maybe a series of articles on this in 2020. There's more to the bullying than the lollypop and beating. Even after being convicted apparently, Miller stalked Isiah and his home. Miller's parents started a campaign of hate against Isiah's family. It went on for years. As angry as I am at Miller and his family, I am much more incensed at the school district that did nothing proactive to protect this poor kid.

Sometimes subtle, sometime blatant - often assisted by the incredulity & ignorance of the teachers outright reý5

@ninthRing I had a similar experience. Because of the head trauma I have a seizure disorder and can never drive. And the teachers? At worst they verbally bullied me and at best sat back and did nothing! Stay strong, man! All the best to you!

@@theleonson100 I'm not sure what you mean. As a teenager being bullied is neither answer goes well, especially in sports. To be seen as a trouble maker you cut your chances of being picked up fir college and pros. In a perfect world that would be deemed as standing up and courageous. We neither live in a perfect country or perfect world and certainly have room to do better! It doesn't pay as well either. Teachers make less than 30 thousand a year and yet they pay off student loans that for all intents and purposes contributes to the common good, they are forced by economics to leave a profession that is both noble and that they love. I don't know but if I were a teacher and have to jump through hoops and attacked by parents (school board meetings) just to eat, you can bet your bottom dollar I'd be gone. Maybe we should pay for educators to get free college and must serve a minimum number of years in public schools. Shoot like that would go over ? Folks are pissed with just 20 thousand in student debt relief gtfoh.

We don’t have all the facts but one wonders what school officials were doing while this was happening? Too many schools excuse the bad behaviours of good athletes in the hopes of hanging another championship banner in their gym. This bully is getting the life sentence of a lost pro career which he deserves as he may have further handicapped a fine young man for the rest of his life. Early intervention could have saved both these men. Instead of armed guards in schools, add teachers and counselors.
