FUN Video - as an old Cold War ASW Frigate helo crewman who ended my career in the ASW Module on the Carrier, it gave me memories.. though your clearing of the plot constantly cracks me up - we had endless squiggles while tracking Soviet or exercise boats

I enjoy watching being a USN Vet. You are able to set up an optimal attack on the contact from the stern very successfully, but then your next move is to hard over and go around. Mabye try to reduce speed and station ahead of the contact in order to force them into a pattern? The target view will help you see when you have passed over and are ahead.

Love this videos. This game really make you tense all to the end. "Pro tip" from someone that is not a pro: you are focusing in crossing paths with the uboat. Try more to intercept and align your path with the uboat. When closing in, slow down, adjust your rudder so your path is the same and over the uboat, then accelerate to start the "bomb run". When you are over him, you have all the time of the world, it's just after you pass him, that he gets a chance. And when in doubt, use more the deep charges wide spread pattern. Lower your chance of critical hit, but you suppress him.

I have to say that the ships and sea are better rendered in Destroyer than in the game U-boat. Much more believable

I've brought this game after watching your videos and it's a tough one and one of the most intense games, the learning curve is steep but once you get what's going on that feeling of sinking a sub ĺis amazing

Now I don’t know what to watch anymore that there is no flight series, I love the naval stuff but I’ve always been super interested in aircraft. I used to come home from school and anticipate the new yuri episode all week, even though I watch all your content since your channel is quite frankly just amazing. Here’s hoping you’ll start up a new IL2 career, 🤞maybe we could see you on the western front with the advent of the new IL-2 sturmovik Normandy DLC? I would love to see you in an aircobra since it’s my favorite aircraft, but I’m going to love anything you put out on your channel regardless. Simply just because your content is awesome and you put so much love and effort into the channel. Thank you for everything you do Wolfpack ❤️

This was a great watch, here are some things that I'd like you to consider covering in future videos, sorry this is going to be kind of long, but here goes: I hardly ever use the DRT or tactical, I can visualize from reports of range and relative bearing an intercept angle toward the target and the appropriate speed. But I do like seeing your demonstration of it, I don't think your use of it outperforms my visualizing of it though. I would like to see a tutorial on how to use the TRR, other than target depth on automatic, I really don't understand any of the rest of it. I don't even get how to turn off automatic, not that I want to any time soon. All that said, I have only played about six or maybe eight hours of it (and sunk exactly one U-boat), all one hour missions, most with one ship to escort, two escorts and one U-boat, because I am trying to understand the mechanics of the game before jumping into the deep end of it. I have had many situations in which I believe I definitely should have had a kill, but I think the developers need to work on their model of the survivability of such close strikes by depth charge. They are probably showing the detonations around the submarine to a scale that makes many of them look close, that are really not that close, basically like using a fisheye lense, where everything that is fairly close looks really close, and anything that is moderately close or far away look increasing far away. Just a guess though. Also, why set rudder angles rather than just setting the course? I can see how at very close ranges it might increase turn rate beyond standard rudder, other than that I don't get the point. I guess doing that can reduce the number of course correction inputs, I just use the rate that the target's relative bearing is to estimate an interception course, than adjust upon that. Why not immediately reload shallow pattern after firing? That way you are ready for the next attack almost right away. Also, why not reverse and throw opposite rudder when it looks like you are overshooting? So many questions! When I overshoot the submarine because it has suddenly turned, and they apparently have a very tight turning radius, instead of trying to out-turn it, I turn the opposite direction, point my sonar search exactly where I estimate his relative position to be and work to re-intercept it, that way I have opened some distance for a new intercept, but without opening up much range, just trying to cross his course again. It is much faster than trying to turn inside of its turn. Whenever the sub goes deep, I slow down, turn 90 degrees or so away, set sonar to watch it, and turn back into it at standard speed as soon as it comes back to shallow. When I started, I collided with other ships all the time, now I use external view every 30 seconds or so to keep myself out of trouble. It seems the AI intentionally tries to steer you into a collision, even with just three other ships out there. I'm not sure a U-boat skipper could really do that. Also, the grading system. The other day I played for an hour, got many very close strikes that in any reality would have sunk a U-boat of the time. While I did not kill the uboat, none of my ships or myself sunk, yet it gave me an 'F - Total Failure', WTF is that? You don't have to answer/cover all these issues, but if you don't you're really lame! Kidding, keep it up! Being able to sit back and watch someone else hunt will only help hone my own technique!

For the first time I actually enjoyed this series. It appears to be a very difficult game to master compared to other games that you have played. A 5 hour battle sounds rather interesting.

I understand there is realism and there is game-play, but that sub would have been fucked on that very first drop. If it didn't outright rupture the pressure hull and sink, those charges would have busted so much equipment and pipes that the sub would have been forced to blow and surface.

I've been bit by leaving the front of the convoy unguarded for too long. I've learned to suppress and then zoom back out front. I've had ships sunk by subs I never knew existed.

The developer talked about it in a video with wolf, they said they chose the fletcher for that purpose, they intend that if this game does well, to make a pacific focused game with surface engagements

Whats keeping me from buying this game is that the U-Boats just seem unnaturally tough. When I play Silent Hunter 3 and get a depth charge-pattern exploding right next to me most of the time I cannot just turn back around, cuz I was just sent to the bottom :P

"unnaturally"? You do know that depth charge attacks lasting 10+ hours and depth charge attacks well beyond 300 depth charges have been successfully survived, even with only minor damage, by submarines? You also know (or should know) that Silent Hunter 3 is not the definite standard on how good/bad submarines were in real life. While it is true that a *direct hit* is pretty sure to kill a submarine, you need to be at IIRC 6.4 metres or less from the submarine to have a killing hit. The maximum outer hull width of a Type VIIC and VIIC/41 is about that. So if you can parallel park a second sub, scratching the paint, between the sub and the depth charge, you are too far away for a kill. As another point of reference, the overall length of a Type VII is more than 10 times the 6.4 metres. Most depth charge attacks sinking a sub in the end were through accumulative damage on the sub over a prolonged time; 1 hour is really fast.

G'day wolfpack. I had a question? in a game like this, how difficult is it to implement ASW tactics of the time, like Raspberry and Half Raspberry? I don't expect you to do such things, but just food for thought. All I know is that it was quite effective since its development in 1942. Love what you do, and I'm always excited when you put out new content. All the best, Joshua

it's a good game but with many things to polish, for example the subs have too much health, irl 1 direct hit with a deep charge usually sink the sub, here you have to hit it a lot of times.

Any idea what "wake on right/left cut" means? I'm quite familiar with navy lingo but I can't figure that one out

If you look behind a ship irl they always leave like those waves behind them (white) the propeller makes that wake if the propeller is close to the surface. So i think wake on left cut means they can see the path of the submarine on the left of the destroyer. I could be wrong here since i dont know much about Naval, but i believe thats what that means
