Ladies from the Women's Royal Naval Service wave and cheer on the quay as one of the sloops, H.M.S. Starling, sails in. Various shots of the crew and Captain Walker. It is followed by 3 others from the second escort group, the 4th was lost but the crew were saved. Various shots as the German crews of the U-boats are taken ashore. L/S of crews gathered. Various shots as Lord of the Admiralty, A.V. Alexander, makes a speech commending them and Captain Walker on sinking 6 U-boats, the sailors give three cheers.

Captain "Johnnie" walker and all the men who served under him are some of the most unsung British heroes of the second world war 🇬🇧

Hello sir yes l agree with your comments , my uncle Henry Unsworth rest in peace was vilified and disliked by his family and his siblings but personally growing up with all these troublesome narratives my mother Henry’s youngest sister always took his corner no matter what and l feel the same , l do think the war had a really bad impact on many service men and women without the support that they probably needed at the time but had to deal with whatever ww2 dealt them, so l am very reluctant to vilify my uncle and still am very proud of his service

Ok mate l never met any of Uncle Henry’s family, l did hear about Tony and the illness he succumbed to , may he rest in peace , nice to hear from you .
