@Legatos28

This is all about the current leadership of our nation. The AFSOF promotional videos from years ago were the type of thing that would get half-assers to move to the edge of their seats, now we’re getting the highly motivated, patriotic candidates to slouch into their seats…or, better yet, look elsewhere as they’re not the target audience of today’s military!

"Join the Air Force, you can become a fat female major who talks about MOSs she's not fit or qualified for." - United States Air Force If this ad told the truth: "Hey kids, do you like paperwork? Do you hate being yelled at or told what to do? Do you want the prestige of telling people you're 'in the military' while doing the absolute bare minimum? Do you want to tell your friends and family that you're 'going on a deployment' when you're really just going to Italy for 4 months? Do you hate guns? Then join the Air Force, where as long as your paperwork is in order, you won't be physically, or mentally, challenged for at least 5 years, all while earning money to go to college, like you actually wanted to. And for those children who have an overinflated ego, you should try Security Forces, where you can tell everyone you're 'SF' and when people ask what you do, you can reply 'We're the infantry of the Air Force.' You'll be given an abundance of unearned authority which will overinflate your ego to the point where you will actually brag to an 18 series soldier that you're 'SF, too.' Are you forgetting that the air force’s is centered around maintenance on aircraft (shocker right) why would they have to go through training like the marines or army, bmt, tech school, doing your job. Theres no reason to go on 15 mile rucks with 70 pound packs on your backs if you arent special warfare or security forces. Thinking before you type an idiotic comment, calling every in a branch of the military set to protect the people of the us less than the other branches
@Johnny_Cash_Flow
@Johnny_Cash_Flow 2 жыл бұрын
@@bloodyscab99 1. Learn English. Your grammar is atrocious. Your comment is barely legible. 2. Oh no, kiddo, I'm not forgetting anything. In fact, I remember Dec 2, 2012, when Taliban forces breached the perimeter of Jalalabad Air Base, killing two, and attempted to flood the base with insurgents and SVBIEDs. I also remember Sept 14, 2012, when Camp Leatherneck's perimeter was breached and the insurgents killed 2 Marines and damaged several hangars and planes. I also remember Jessica Lynch and following the details of the search for her while my unit prepped for our deployment. "Theres [sic] no reason to go on 15 mile rucks with 70 pound packs on your backs if you arent [sic] special warfare or security forces." Yeah, standards shouldn't exist. Being part of the UNIFORMED military services shouldn't require any actual uniformity. There's no reason why anyone would need to be physically prepared for combat when they're in the military. There's nothing any Marine, soldier, or sailor, ever gained from a ruck march, like breaking through mental and physical barriers or forming lifelong bonds with their brothers-in-arms. Nope. No one has ever overcome anything through adversity and being forced to push themselves. Silly me. Good thing the Air Force makes life so easy on their airmen; we wouldn't want them to be uncomfortable from time-to-time. I guess that's a great refutation of my original comment, huh? "Thinking before you type an idiotic comment, calling every [sic] in a branch of the military set to protect the people of the us less than the other branches" Is this English? Let me, the "idiot," help you out here. "Think before you type an idiotic comment, such as denigrating service members of other branches of our military, as they are sworn to protect the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic, just the same as Marines and soldiers." It's not wise to attempt to insult someone's intelligence when you can't even type a coherent sentence. That said, you realize that your only counter-argument proves precisely my point, right? Me: "Do you want the prestige of telling people you're 'in the military' while doing the absolute bare minimum?" You: "Well, there's no reason for them NOT to do the bare minimum because of their MOSs." How about instead of a knee-jerk blind defense of mediocrity, you take a long hard look at the pathetic state the Air Force, and her sister branches for that matter, is in. You don't think that a brisk walk for your physical fitness test is embarrassing? You don't think that lowering the standards to the point where the Girl Scouts of America have a more difficult training regimen than you is a sad state of affairs? Aren't you embarrassed with how fat your NCOs and SNCOs are in their bus driver uniforms? Do you even know what pride is? Pride comes from beating a challenging standard and/or overcoming genuine adversity, not making excuses for how pathetically low the standard is and perpetuating the failing of service members by incentivizing the bare minimum.

@@Johnny_Cash_Flow This is a youtube comment section, not every comment is going to be put in times new roman, 12 font, with a header. Also, I made like two typos but okay. Theres so many points to your essay that made zero sense. The air force doesnt have a walk as part of the pt test, it was just an idea that is scrapped. You wanna talk about bad ideas for your branch? How about the article that came out talking about having civillians join the marines, bc there are so few senior leaders, without having to go through marine boot camp? Yeah doesnt seem like a good idea for me. Here, I’ll post a link for you, taskandpurpose.com/news/marine-corps-plan-cyber-skip-boot-camp/?amp . Its funny how you call the air force out for having fat snco’s and nco’s, when the navy is the fattest out of all branches. You’re point about uniformity and how we should all do the same thing is the exact opposite of why each distinctive branch of the military was made. Yeah bc lets have the coast guard do the exact same thing as the marines bc that makes a lot of sense. One branch is an amphibious fighting force, capable of fighting on land and sea. The other protects the coast from drugs, immigrants, and saves lives. Not dogging the coast guard just saying how it is. The navy is trained firefighters on ships, why in the hell would air force or army need to know how to put out fires on a naval warships. So no, your points made no sense. You have the same energy as someone who believes if you didnt go through the exact same training as somebody, they never served. “How about instead of a knee-jerk blind defense of mediocrity” oh mediocrity? You mean the branch that has the highest amount, and most advanced technology? Oh I bet thats why the marines get the shittiest supplies and equipment. All in all, please do research before commenting on a branch you dont know anything about.

I'm with you, respect to all vets (even when we talk sh!t to each other) Air Force vet here. I am honestly embarrassed by this video. It's a great example of how recruiting has become more misleading than ever. First, she is a Major that I would bet has a dead man's waiver and hasn't passed a PT test since she was a butterbar, and she is talking about the physical requirements of the spec ops careers. 2nd, she is the vocal equivalent of a PowerPoint training. This video should get potential Airmen fired up and ready to kick down doors and jump out of airplanes. I have a buddy who was a PJ, showed him this and he couldn't even finish watching. Definitely need to do better!

If she was my chain of command, I know I would have to create my own morale and realistically be talking trash about the unit and counting the days until I wake up, out. This unit has a ton of respect and great accolades. But this video made me want to stay away from the Air Force thinking they are not competent. There are certain things that men and women can't do. It's not to say that a female can't do the training let alone, has the Air Force allowed a female to even try it, yet? Applicants must be between 17 and 39; meet the mental, moral, and physical standards for enlistment; and must speak, read and write English fluently. The Air Force does not bring applicants to the US to join unless there is an AF recruiting office or Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) to process through. This ad is great. It actually discusses attributes that are conducive to success in any walk of life. Someone that lacks self awareness is surely to misjudge the video because it isn't played to the backdrop of death metal. I'd recommend that someone representing Human Performance be in better shape. The SOF training community is saturated with leaders that offer advice like, "don't quit" or "be tough" or "just put out" - all good-natured, but are surface layer pieces of advice that are generally useless to the average person. This video challenges you to have awareness of your behavior in all aspects - that way you can seek to correct your deficiencies in everyday life before you show up to selection. That way instead of watching "rah rah SF" videos and consuming content that doesn't benefit you, you show up with knowledge, experience, and a tested resiliency plateau. Maybe then you wont wash out of selection.

I recall getting AFSOF leaders to speak to my cadets & bring promotional videos to fire the kids up at the beginning of the school year…and it worked! Highest engagements with speakers each year, no nodding off, true motivation…what the heck happened? If this is the type of speaker we’d get or the type of “motivational” video, I’d half to close it down fast or deal with every motivated student leaving for careers suited to their persona & slugs believing they can be operators!

Prior Corpsman here. Air Force, you’re showing all the wrong parts of your special forces training and you’re not getting me fired up; you’re giving a TED Talk and it’s not working. Show the fully trained team doing the mission. Don’t show a bored, doughy woman who can’t make the cut giving an academic lecture.

Are there any waivers for color vision for air force special operations?
@sashab510
@sashab510 2 жыл бұрын
Speak with your recruiter, there is a color vision requirement for CCT, PJ, and SR, but NOT TACP. Also, another option is to go into different career fields such as EOD, and SERE, which may not be exactly what you're looking for, but are still pretty good IMO. Regarding color vision, even if you think you have color blindness, take the test at MEPS and find out. There is an option aswell to try a different color blind test at MEPS. Ask them about it.
@sashab510
@sashab510 2 жыл бұрын
Also; SERE does not require color vision, but im not sure about EOD. I would assume you would need it, but It would be better to find out.
@USAirForceRecruiting

The doctor at the Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) makes that determination. Your local recruiter can have your medical records for this condition prescreened by the doctor at MEPS for a preliminary ruling in your situation. It is routine during the screening process that all applicants are asked in-depth questions about their medical history. Just like other medical matters such as broken bones or asthma, we would request medical paperwork for the Chief Medical Officer to review for a determination.
