Created in 1957, this film presents an overview of the U.S. Army missile program, including surface to air defensive and surface to surface attack / offensive missiles. At 0:12 the narrator mentions the Army's keen interest in surface to air missiless. At 0:8, Nike Ajax is shown. Nike Ajax is a surface to air missile, which is located at key points around the United States to provide round the clock vigilance against air attacks. At 0:44 there is a demonstration of the missile hitting a target drone. At 1:30 the Nike Hercules is introduced. The Nike Hercules is being developed to provide a surface to air missile with increased range and altitude capabilities. The Nike Hercules can engage enemies at further distances than the Nike Ajax. The Nike Hercules is expected to replace the Nike Ajax’s over time. At 1:50 is a demonstration of the Nike Hercules in action. The Hercules easily takes down its target at a great range. At 2:22 the Hawk is shown. The Hawk is the newest of the Army's air defense missiles. At 3:00 is a demonstration of the Hawk in action. At 3:43, surface to surface missiles are introduced. These missiles strike the ground instead of enemy aircraft. At 3:56, Honest John is shown. This is an all weather pre-rocket that delivers an atomic or non-atomic punch at a range of up to 15 miles. At 4:00 is a demonstration of Honest John in action. At 4:35, Corporal is introduced. This is a 4 runner in the Army’s surface to surface missile family. It has been in the hands of troops since 1953, and since then it has had many improvements. Corporal delivers atomic or non-atomic fire to ranges of more than 100 miles. At 4:50 is a demonstration of Corporal. At 5:20 Dart is introduced. Dart is a small but hard hitting anti-tank missile with deadly accuracy. At 5:37 Dart is demonstrated. At 5:55 Little John is introduced. Little John is a light weight pre-rocket which can reach out beyond the range of medium artillery. This increases the all weather support capabilities of the ground commander. At 6:10 the Lacrosse is introduced. Lacrosse is a deadly accurate guided missile for close tactical support of troops in the field. At 6:23 the Lacrosse is demonstrated. At 6:47, the Redstone is introduced. The Redstone is a highly accurate, medium range, surface to surface guided missile. It stands 69 feet high, and has a diameter of about 6 feet. The missile is launched vertically from relatively light portable launching platforms. At 7:10 Redstone is launched.

Nice footage from Whitesands/Ft Bliss area North of El Paso. There is still wreckage of these things scattared all over the desert. Many times they went off course and hit way outside the military areas incuding a town in the Sacramento Mnts. and Juarez Mexico

I built a model of the Nike Hercules missile when I was a child. I had no idea I'd be guarding them in West Germany as a soldier.
