We're upgrading, most of this equipment was decommissioned and discontinued. If we kept these units they would have to be destroyed eventually. So why not give them to Ukraine so we don't have to pay foy decommissioning just transportation. Its a win win. We upgrade our equipment and our allies get the old stuff.

I'd say people can learn things pretty quickly, but it isn't just about knowing things. The long term training is what hones reaction times and gives a feel for how a machine feels when running it. But honestly, I would believe that it isn't actually Ukrainians manning these vehicles. That would make more sense. They're also probably not going to be front line vehicles, more likely to be used for last stand. If Ukrainians are manning them, then my guess would be they're going to largely use them in entrenchments where they don't need to move, surrounded by mounds of earth and maybe concrete, aligning them up as a firing gallery, in order to create fortified lines in certain areas, and to use as artillery. These tanks can shoot a couple miles, but they can go further if you don't want to be particularly accurate. But these tanks do need regular barrel changes, and I highly doubt they also come with all that replacement equipment, because that requires a lot of logistics, and more space than the tanks themselves would take up. So they're definitely not being used in a front line capacity, because a front line capacity would need tons of maintenance and replacement parts. The notion of simply giving a country a tank and some training would be shortsighted due to all these factors, so the biggest bang for buck out of them would be as reserved entrenchments to reinforce lines, not as vehicles heading into a battle. With Russian drones, I don't think these would fair very well, just like the Russian tanks have also had trouble with drones. But unlike the Ukrainians, the Russians have artillery and air support. So they're probably going to park these around anti air sites to protect each other. The anti air takes down whatever would get the tank, while the tank takes down whatever would get the anti air. It's the only strategy that makes any sense, especially with quickly trained crews. What makes the most sense is the training is probably largely focused on loading and aiming and not so much on maneuvering and other aspects.

@@user-ng5wo6mx5d it is not so much about crew survival as it is about training and integrating into a tank battalion. Going out as a single tank or in a small group of 3 or 4 tanks without infantry or air support is not very healthy. Especially, if the tank crews are not trained to work together. Also, as peoplez129 mention maintenance logistics will be an issue. Might be better to use the tanks as mobile artillery or anti tank gun to protect fortifications instead of as a traditional tank.

@@pacificdragon1 that the problem with you people, training is not only learning from instructor in camp, the best training is through experience in the frontline itself. You can trained for 30 years in training camp but that will not match the experience of two month on the frontline.

I don’t think Ukraine has any plans yet to invade Russia, but it might happen.
