@@dylannefdt1310 While it is traditional for a *CAPTAIN* to lift a trophy *FIRST* after a successful win, it is generally accepted that *AFTER* this "ceremonious captain's lifting of the trophy" every team member thereafter is deemed to have "lifted" the trophy as well (including management, coaching and auxiliary staff etc - THEY ALL ALSO *LIFTED* the trophy)!!! By your reasoning then it means that Chester Williams (1995); JP Pietersen and Bryan Habana (2007) *NEVER* lifted the trophy? As Kolisi *ONLY* did it in 2019 it is only fair that I point out your errata by stipulating other "POC's" before him in 1995 and 2007!

The best thing about this Final is that England was boasting that they would wipe the floor with us including their media due to that in the Semi-final England beat New Zealand badly and we lost to New Zealand in our first game. So they and their fans became extremely arrogant and overconfidant. But in the final they got destroyed.

From the perspective of an english fan we did not take the boks lightly, ignore what the press said. We produced the performance of the tournament a few days previously when we trashed the all black favourites. Come the final the bokka had the measure of us, we were undercooked and the better team won. There's no need for bad attitude towards your opponents when you win, goes against true spirit of the game.

Fun fact: That guy you see cheering in the crowd wearing a black coat (at 17:38) is Francois Pienaar - the captain of the Springboks for the legendary 1995 world cup final, where South Africa first won and completely united a nation that had just come out of a massive transition. I don't think there is a South African alive who doesn't know exactly where he or she was at that moment. The Clint Eastwood directed movie Invictus documents that historical World Cup, also how late President Mandela used it as a way to unite a very divided South Africa. I was 18 years old. What a day that was!

More like Eddie Jones thought he had SA's gameplay figured out. If he paid attention to simple things like statistics at all, he would've seen they (Rassie) radically changed the way his team (and his game makers like Faf) played in 2019. They did not kick that much in 2018. So he should've known Rassie was cooking up something. It seems to me that Eddie dismissed Rassie's tactical abilities early on. Rassie being more than a decade his junior and with much less international coaching experience. He also was lulled by the fact that Jake White, for whom he helped coach the 2007 team, had a very similar gameplan. So that he then "understood" SA type of play. In stead of the running rugby played in the final. Rassie is still the more reserved of the two. Giving less interviews and not mouthing off as to how he is going to beat England in future matches as Eddie Jones does in the English media. That makes Rassie much more dangerous imo.

Loved the reaction. A bit of a back story, South-Africa has been facing many challenges as a nation ranging from femicide, murder, xenophobia and cultural and racial devide between black and white. The Springboks overcame the odds and came together as a nation to give us some hope. Siya Kolisi became the first black man in our country's history to captain our national rugby team. A boy from the townships of South- Africa who didn't grow up having food to eat or shoes to walk in and who watched South Africa win the 2007 world cup as a kid in a bar because he didn't have a tv. Our team is made up of men from different backgrounds and cultures so our country needed this win and boy oh boy was it a great time to be alive. Just two years prior no one gave us a chance in the world cup but we showed up. Check out siya's story you Wil have tears in your eyes the whole time. Love from South-Africa 😁

Really appreciate watching someone react to the game I love. I hope your enjoyment of rugby keeps growing. What also is interesting is when you learn about all the rivalries in the sport. For instance the All Blacks are the top team over the last 20 years but in the 20th century there were long periods where the Springboks dominated everyone including the All Blacks. We used to play test series against other countries where you would go on tour there for months usually to play three to five test matches with lots of other practice matches against clubs and provinces in between. But now we play in tournaments. A lot of people want to go back to the old test series format. In SA vs NZ the first recorded game was in 1921 and the Springboks won their first series in New Zealand in 1937 while the All Blacks were only able to win their first and only test series in South Africa in 1996. Traditionally the Southern Hemisphere teams have been the most successful with Australia, South African and New Zealand winning all World Cups bar one (2003).

A prof. at the Imperial College in London once told me about a story about a book written by an Italian WWII veteran. He wrote that after the allies suffered serious losses to the Italians in the mountains over a 2 week period trying to dislodge the Italians out of the mountains the allied field marshall called in a battalion of South African infantry. The Italians was routed in less than 2 days. The bloke wrote that these buggers just never gave up. They got shot and bayonetted and they still kept coming just to land a punch to your face. He wrote that they could handle everyone especially because they were on higher ground but the South Africans just broke them with their sheer physicality and never give up attitude. Also their willingness to attack in the dark. He said it really broke them knowing that sleep in a tent was a death trap because these folk just would not give up till the job was done. This world cup final kind of summarized that story for me. Thanks for posting this reaction video mate!

I'm a South African by the way and was an out of the world experience watching my country lift that trophy again for the third time. It's awesome to see Americans reacting to a game like rugby. You guys should seriously back the Eagles a lot more and give the sport better acknowledgment as you guys could easily become one of the best countries in the world. By the way, I am also a huge NFL fan and love watching the games. I'm a patriots fan, might get hate for that I don't know. Curious to know what NFL team you support?

I’m a huge fan of the sport now and I know if more Americans knew the sport or if it was taught in school as part of the P.E. Curriculum then the push here in the States would be a movement like it is in The rest of the world. Haha and There’s nothing wrong with being a patriots fan, Tom Brady is a goat for sure but as far as I go, I’m a Denver Broncos Die-hard. If you want to understand tactically why England looked flat check out Squidge rugby. He does an excellent breakdown of the game. But in a nutshell what it came down to is that SA managed their pack (the big guys) better through the tournament and in the final England were done, and SA still had a lot more left in the tank.

It has to also be noted that south african sides are traditionally the most physicall in world rugby... England trying to take them on in this aspect of the game was a tactical error their coach made... He thought ge would boss them like he did the nz side in the semi....forgetting that england was dominated physically in the last 4 games they played south africa... They were so impressived with what they did in the semi they seem to think they could achieve the same in the final... Which was why most safa fans were quietly confident... They new if it came to brute strength the boks were more than England's match.

Side note...Massive respect for most medics at Rugby games. If the game is still on the go even though someone is injured, they will get to the player, and they will even shield the player from play using their own bodies at times. the game is usually stopped at this point by the ref, but it does happen that a medic can have a player tackled right on top of them.

The game of rugby is mostly won by the team that works the most, works the hardest and has the most passion and heart on the field. It also comes down a type of brotherhood that is formed by you and your team mates. I can honestly say that rugby is more than a sport to some people and the lessons that the game teaches you on the field can be carried over into general life. For example the respect you give your opposition and the ref can be carried over into a work situation. Sorry if im rambling i just really wanted to say my piece 😂😂

The conditions are that, if in his opinion, that if not for the actions of a defender, a try would have been scored, he can award the try. 10:05 this particular set of highlights loses a little bit of context because it doesn't show one important set of phases that England had when they nearly scored a try. There's another highlight on KZfaq that does show most of it. Enland has something like 20 phases including several right on the goalline and they were stood up repeatedly by the South African defense and eventually sent backwards and had to settle for a kick. That drive was the game for England. Their failure to score the try deflated and South Africa's ability to shur down England's advance right on the doorstep put them on another level. From that point on these team's were headed in different directions. This is most of why England looks so defeated.

Without pads you run hard but you also run smart and make sure your head is out the way and you have a good body position to take the hit. It’s more calculated than the head on smashes you see in the NFL. The helmet gives confidence to go in head first which is a 1 way ticket to a spinal injury.

Idontknowwhattowriteforthis true self preservation is paramount in rugby and in American football we throw caution to the wind and lead with our skulls which ain’t it at all lol

KurtyFlo Live! Haha exactly! Makes for some entertaining watching though but I don’t half cringe when I see two players fold like an accordion after a head on. Ps your rugby knowledge is pretty good! respect from South Africa 👍

The reason england looked dejected at half time. England's tactic were always, go hard the first 20 minutes, get a score and scoreboard pressure. Well, england attacked and attacked, but south africa kept on defending, and, offcourse, if you keep in attacking, you get more tired. Second half, sout africa had more energy in the tank, scoring 2 late tries

The best game of the world cup for me, though, was the semi final between south africa and wales. Will be a boring highlights reel, though, haha! Okay, that time of the year in japan, it's very hot and humid. You need to preserve your energy well, and the ball gets wet, your hands sweaty. Better to defend than to attack. So, south africa kicked the ball deliberately away, to defend and waiting for wales, opposition to make the mistakes. Geuss what? Wales did the same, deliberately kicking the ball away, waiting for south africa. Was a huge arm wrestle. You kick, I kick, you kick, I kick. You make a mistake, I will kick a penalty over. So they got turns to kick penalties over. Dead even. Eventually, south africa scored a try, but 5 minutes later, wales responded with a try, and it was dead even again. In the end, a lapse of concentration from wales with 2 minutes to go, south africa kicked the penalty, and went into the final

Oh yeah, the fairy tale team was japan. Rugby isn't huge in asia, they beaten 2, top 10 teams to top their group and became the first asian team in history to go into a quarter finals. Watch highlights, japan vs ireland and japan vs scotland if you want to, remember, japan was the underdogs in both games

Bro you gotta understand no one and I mean no one wants to go off the pitch in a world cup when you represent your country there's no greater honer for a rugby player then to play a rugby game in the world cup final
