My favorite U2 song of all time. I would listen to it as a kid and pray it would keep going forever. Still feel that way. The song I never want to end.

This came from one of my favourite albums of all times. TUF captured a magic at a point in time. That time and world is gone now but thankfully we have it to replay. This song perfectly reflects that time and that magic. For the people trying to figure out the lyrics I would ask why? Sometimes it’s just a feeling, an emotion that is the point.

Has to be the best U2 song ever. Simply gorgeous. You can thank Daniel Lanois and Brian Eno for this whole album. I played this album so much in the 80s, that I wore out the vinyl !

My favorite U2 song. Spastic lyrics that make no sense, the chime of Edge's guitar, a beat so precise it could smash an atom. And Bono singing about fuck knows what, wailing, mourning, soaring, majestic. Shit hot, love it.

It's two 12 string acoustics with plenty of reverb and fuzz recorded loud, one in each channel, and they're potting each channel up and down to control which chord you hear throughout the entire song. It's amazing! G F G D

its actually a sort of homecoming slowed down. If you listen to the Daniel lanois mix of the song and slow it down it's pretty much what you have here.

I agree, I love this song. I love how strange, atmospheric and experimental it is. I also like Bono's vocals, and how his lyrics make no sense at all. The drums are also excellent; like simmo simmo said, they are very precise. The Unforgettable Fire is such an underrated album, I think it may be my favorite U2 album.

Here are the lyrics. Black flash over my own love Tell me of my eyes Black flash come though my own life Telling these things And I believe them And I believe in you White flash sees the sky And it turns its side from you She won't turn my back And I know you turn so blue You know And your sky is feeling blue And your heart So cold when I'm with you You feel Like no one told you to And your time is your side And your time with me Ah, don't talk to me Ah, don't talk to me Don't talk to me You know Like no one told you how but you know Though the king that howls has howled We're like sentimental, but you don't care If I just share it in your heart, heart (Heart, heart) Hopelessly, so hopelessly I'm breaking through for you and me You don't Though no one told you to And you found out Where you were going, where to You're through with me But I know that you will be back for more And you know And though no one told you so And you know, blue sky Like a harder shade of blue And you walk When you want To let go Me, I'm on the outside, tell me not to fade away Drop me down but don't break me In your sleep In your sleep, inside, it's in your heart and mine Whole sea is dark, it's in your heart and mine Sweetly, those will come Loving is on your side walking through So let me in your heart Your beat is like something new They Run See, say you're sad and reach by So, say you're sad above beside Oh, stay sad above beside So, stay sad above we said You know I don't And no one told you how And you don't And you wipe sweat off your white brow, and you care And no one told you tried And your heart Is left out from the side And the rain beats down And the shame goes down And this rain keeps on coming down And this sky Tonight Give a S-O-N-G-why Your joy to God Give a S-O-N-G-why Give away some in your life Give away some while you're able You know And though no one told you sky And you feel Like you pretend you can, you say go, you live Go live outside of me Don't you leave Don't leave out part of me, then I can feel Like I feel before Like it hurt now, and I see the floor If you pick me up Bits and pieces on this floor

The official biography tells how this song found daylight: Bono and co. were fooling around/ jamming in the recordingstudio. Brian Eno was in the other room, hearing the jam/improvision. He walked in and said: 'I like it, but i like it exactly the way it is now. Don't change it, we're gonna record the song.'.... As it turned out this song became a favourit to millions of fans around the world. .....
@nicholasusansky90736 жыл бұрын
i heard a different story; apparently this recording is a guitar line and bass line jammed that bono wanted to improve and finish but eno said what do you mean? it IS finished. and he wouldnt let the band touch it. then eno played the track backwards to the band and larry came in on top and recorded a drum track on it and finally bonos vocal over the backwards track.
@Rayruit4 жыл бұрын
@@nicholasusansky9073 As far as I know, the drum track is just from one of the recordings they made of A Sort of Homecoming but slowed down a little bit. Play this one at 1,25 speed and you will recognize it immediately.

By far the worst U2 song and the biggest reason Why the unforgettable fire isnt one of U2s 10 best albums. This one should have been Love comes tumbling and 4th july should have been Diasapearing act. Then TUF would have been U2s third or fourth best album
