Seems like this was your first video with Jobeky cymbals instead of Field cymbals - how do they compare in detail? Isn't the 1-piece hihat more "unreal"? How do they feel and trigger in general?
@DrumangleOfficial
@DrumangleOfficial 6 жыл бұрын
They feel and trigger just fine. I just purchased Jobeky's new Dark Bronze cymbals, which are a little heavier so I like the feel of them even better! A two-piece trigger would be fantastic, but I'm perfectly happy with the 1-piece hi-hat.

Excellent cover! I’m not a drummer myself but I’m just curious, did Larry use a hi-hat on the album version or did he use some kind of percussion in between the kick and snare?

Nicely done! I would love to see a video of how to dial in your new Jobeky cymbals. I recently bought an entire set and am struggling to get them to trigger consistently using a td30. I seem to be having the most issues with the hi-hat. Are you finding that the levels you used with your Field cymbals work well with Jobeky or did you have to do some additional tweaking?
@DrumangleOfficial
@DrumangleOfficial 8 жыл бұрын
I'll see what I can do! I'm planning on doing a review of these cymbals, but an actual tutorial to dial them in is a great idea. As for my settings, I had to re-tweak everything on my TD30 for the Jobeky cymbals, but that's not uncommon when changing any trigger. As for the hi-hat, I would suggest 2 things: First, have you checked out the Mask Time, Re-trigger Cancel and Threshold settings for your hi-hat on the TD30? These can all work together to eliminate any false triggering. Mine are set to the following: Mask Time: 9 - Re-trigger Cancel: 4 - Threshold: 5 - . Also, since this is a VH11 style controller and you only have the top hi-hat cymbal, I used a wide washer underneath and really cranked it down to eliminate as much motion as I could when I hit the cymbal. Otherwise there's a bit of give then you hit it, which may contribute to false triggering as well. Hope this helps! Also, if you think of any other ideas for tutorials, please let me know!

I have purchased the Jobeky 14" hat. I'm having a hard time getting a nice closed sound. No matter what I do, the hat always sound slightly open, never tightly closed. Any suggestions??
@DrumangleOfficial
@DrumangleOfficial 6 жыл бұрын
This would most likely have to do with your drum module. I'm using a Roland TD-30 and make sure the Hi-Hat Offset settings are correctly set up. Then I choose the correct module mapping from within EZdrummer or Superior Drummer to make sure it's mapped correctly for use in Toontrack's software. So you'll want to make sure your hi-hat CC Offset is calibrated correctly for your drum module.

So, what do you think of the Jobeky Cymbals Luke? :)
@DrumangleOfficial
@DrumangleOfficial 8 жыл бұрын
I really like them. I spent a lot of time with the Field cymbals, and also using other cymbals as well. I did like the Field, but there were a few glaring things that I didn't like about them: They were REALLY heavy, unbalanced (very front heavy) and I could never get the choke function to work that well. Also there was some issues getting the bow and bell articulations on the ride to work properly. Again, this was with the FIELD cymbals. I tried out the Jobeky cymbals and really liked them right off the bat. They're lighter, which for me I really liked. They felt more like I was hitting an actual cymbal and not like I'm hitting a table. They're much better balanced, which you can actually see in the video when I hit them, they swivel like a real cymbal would, whereas the Field cymbals wouldn't. Although there's always work when dialing in any trigger, I felt like I was able to dial these Jobeky cymbals in quicker than my Field cymbals. This ride is also a 3 zone and works well. The choke function works great on these Jobeky's and you can choke ANY cymbal from ANYWHERE on the cymbal. Lastly, the hi-hat works great as well, although I do miss the 2-piece hi-hat trigger like Field had. Field cymbals also had a bit more of a bronze looking alloy while the Jobeky cymbals have more of a brass looking alloy. They still look great on camera, but some may like the bronze look better. I've provided all of this feedback to Jobeky, so they're certainly aware. But all in all, I really like the Jobeky cymbals, and all the Jobeky products in general. Great drums, cymbals, mesh heads, and great people too...Colin and Jane are amazing to work with. Sorry I wrote a book, but that's what I think of them!

Qq are you using rimshots? Or is it triggered by velocity?
@DrumangleOfficial
@DrumangleOfficial 2 жыл бұрын
The majority of my videos I'm using rimshots and positional sensing. So the center/edge and rimshot articulations in Superior Drummer 3 are determined by stick position on the Jobeky snare. However, you CAN setup articulations to trigger based on velocity. I used to do this quite a bit before Superior Drummer 3 using Superior Drummer 2. It works quite well and gives you some nice control over the articulations. I explain and demonstrate this in my live stream sessions on this channel.

How difficult of a song is this to learn?
@DrumangleOfficial
@DrumangleOfficial 6 жыл бұрын
I've been performing this arrangement with my band, "Formerly Three", for a long time now. It's our own arrangement as well so we learned it as we arranged it. It's not all that difficult of a song to play...4-on-the-floor most of the time. I'm going for more of a simple drum part to let the music speak for itself on this one.
