My first born son died during the covid pandemic. This was his favorite song/band. I know he has now "found what's he's been looking for'" . Thank you Jesus ❤

Karen ..I am so sorry for your loss. I lost my 39 yr old son 13 years ago. I just found an old CD he had made of some of his favorite songs. This is one of them. He was a born again Christian, so I know I'll see him again. My husband died 2 days after my son...deaths not connected. I just recently found out the hospital chaplain had led him to the Lord shortly before he died! I was wondering about his situation with Jesus ... Now I feel I will see him again too . God is so good. ❤

I like to believe that the lyrics go beyond finding that perfect someone to fulfill a vacancy into which we are all born. You can't expect love to fill in all the gaps. The song suggests a spiritual quest, a thirst for meaning.

When my first daughter Agnes was born, we received a baby U2 album as a gift. I knew some of their songs but wasn't a huge fan, however, I played it on repeat and we both enjoyed it. This track was my favorite. Years later our roads have taken us to different places in life, but I still think of her every day, looking forward to the day we get to see each other again. I always come back to this song and it takes me back to those days. I love you girl.

This is a gospel song. Sometimes, what we are looking for transcends the physical and in a marriage, couple still tend to look for happiness elsewhere when they have already been blessed. So let this song be a go to song in case they sway. Look for love, understanding and forgiveness in each other.

I finished Sing 2 recently and the seen with Clay Calloway brings so much emotion it feels as if my past self is coming out, I have so many emotions I've never felt before with this song. Whole body chills every single time.

Guys this Song its not about love o relationships is more than that, nevertheless I understand why so many people stick to " I still havent found what Im looking for" because every person link the lyrics to his/ her personal life. This song is about a quest, a deep quest about life about whats its meaning, if theres a powerful thing above humanity...

Loncco Ccala: He said he found "God" , and still hasn't found what he's looking for. There is something higher than faith in the supernatural... it's faith in humanity. Faith in good over evil. Faith in yourself. If you settle for a mythological god, you lose.

This song resembles life and our journey as individuals. Music is a personal experience and we can relate one way or another to the lyrics and interpret it in many ways - love, relationships, a relationship with ourselves , "our creator", the universe, faith, etc. I believe this is the meaning of life, to constantly find what we are looking for and all ends into faith in life itself.

This song is actually about how he failed to find what he was looking for in the pleasures of life, and what it is, is a love song to God to Jesus Christ, he’s the only place where he can actually find what he’s looking for. It’s actually a love song to Jesus not a woman.

Sam Barcia Roja ------------------------------------> have a think about this : if life was offered to you as an option, much like a brochure, and you could see what the experience would be like, the love, the failures, the heartache.... would you agree and sign up for the trip ??? pain, joy and being a human is worth the experience is my option... but i do agree, it is all fucked up.. which is the way of our learning. Cannot go forward without learning from the past.

It's so sad in a way no matter where you go in nature you'll find the beautiful world God had made, but never in your life can you actually be with him, only in spirit, only in faith. The closest you can get to him is with the faithful and in your dreams. One day though we will all be with him, only no longer as the people we are. When we are made anew that is when.

I have always fealt this song was about Jesus dying for humanity’s sins &the journey of faith and love with Christ. As well as the things you personally will be disappointed with but that Christs love is the joy you ultimately experience when you realize what your looking for can’t be fulfilled by earthly things. The lyrics seem like a gospel song honestly. “I believe in the Kingdom Come Then all the colors will bleed into one Bleed into one But yes, I'm still running You broke the bonds And you loosed the chains Carried the cross of my shame, of my shame. You know I believe it.”

I can’t believe I have been so blind to think this beautiful song was about someone searching for that special love of their life. For years I thought this until I heard it today and I couldn’t figure why Kingdom Come and the colors bleed into one. I pulled the lyrics up and WOW it hit me. This is about Jesus and the words written in the Good Book. How badly I feel for thinking first of loves past. I should have listened closer. I will listen a lot closer to the wondrous words U2 sings. Thank you U2 for such a great way to spread the word and getting people like me to listen.

A wonderful lyric which never was a romantic song, it's frustrating to see how many people were deceived by the rhythm of that song, whereas its message never spoke about love between a man and a woman, but it has always spoken about a better love come from a better place where if it hasn't happened yet it's just because it's still in the Almighty God's powerful hands.

Yeah he says he belives in Jesus but he still is looking for something else....its a reference to the scripture. Most music legends face a breaking point where they essentially have to break through their conscious and basically deny Jesus to choose the world. We find those moments referenced by all this big musicians Bono,Jared Leto,Katy Perry,Michael Jackson,Jay-z Beyonce and former Kanye West...when sin takes over and you tell Jesus"back off i want this".You have to start making a case with Him as He comes out and says"whoa whoa son do you see where you are now headed?"Its basically a quarrel with their own hearts. We see that conflict been published in their scriptures. It happens when you reach great depts of baxksliding and sin..when Christ tells you "you know you are heading yourself to hell, right? And their conscious kicks in and they want to start questioning the obvious.Christ is Lord wether we agree or disagree. And yes there is life after death those a facts engraved in each one of us' heart.

As a Christian people think life is easy for me because we have a hope, we know for sure we’re saved. This songs is how I actually experience Christianity; I’m still running to my guiding light, even when it’s not visible. Not knowing exactly what I’m gonna find but when I find it, it is were I was looking for.

I am a Christian, and I believe in what I was taught. We were to taught to be disciples of Christ, look up to him and follow his deeds. I try to do these things, and I do, but... My life is still pointless. It feels pointless at least. It makes me resort to listen to this song, and this of the quote by Socrates, "I know one thing; I know nothing."

When they were making my dad comfortable for his passing in the hospital they put on music and this was the first song to come on. He liked this band. Listening to this even 17months later is hard. Brings back those memories of that day watching him fade away from us. I miss and love you dad.

I first heard this song in the 1994 movie "Blown Away" with Jeff Bridges and Tommy Lee Jones, the arsonist/Irish Extremist bought a U2 tape while buying parts and supplies for his mission and then listened to it for the rest of the movie and it was his soundtrack. Don't know why it impacted me the way it did, but it did.

I'm reading many interesting interpretations of the lyrics, but no one can translate a quality work of art for anyone else. What we see into it is what it means, like a Rorschach test. Best.

Very true, and in my opinion the best songs intentionally do not spell out the meaning for you, they invite you to figure it out, come to terms with yourself.

A "believer in Christ" and not a woman is what this song is about. When you become a true believer in Christ, you seek to perfect a relationship and love in and with Christ. Lines in this song relates to those biblical perspectives or experiences. The question asked by the songwriter's, Bono or any man, will I find that love and relationship, that is what I am are looking for? The songwriter's first describe the journey that we humans are on, highs of climbing and lows of running and crawling, in our spiritual walk with God as a believer "Only to be with You" this quest for that love and relationship with Christ, even venturing outside the walls of the city's protection. The writer's are saying that all the earthly relationships including the love of another human " I have kissed honey Lips" (with a kiss brought on a relationship, healing from the touch and burning desires of the flesh which may be temporary) "Felt the healing in the fingertips-It burned like fire -This burning desire" "I have spoke with the tongue of angels" (1 Corinthians 13 ,Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.) Bono is making noises, but is he producing Charity -LOVE . "But I still haven't found -What I'm looking for" "I have held the hand of a devil" even a relationship with the devil (at night when it is usually cold, it was warm, but still made him cold as a stone) these relationships can never completely fulfill man. All the good and evil pleasures in this world will never fulfill what our spirit and heart desires to know Christ. Man has an innate desire to draw to or seek God. Fortunately, God has shown grace on You and I and as the writer's state in this song, "I believe in the Kingdom come. Then all the colors will bleed into one", the blood of christ washes Us white as snow, as a reunion with all in a kingdom come. 1 John 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he(Christ) is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. God broke the bonds and loosed the chains that tied us to this world of original sin, in allowing his son Jesus Christ to die on the cross for all of our sins and shame, and "You know I believe it". You must believe in Christ as the writer's state twice in this song. Those of Us who believe and have accepted this gift of grace from God, carry His Holy Spirit within Us. We are still human though, subject to sin and will not be complete in His image in this world, but through our faith, as we strive to be in Christ (the light), We still have not found what we are looking for, as our spirits will not be completely fulfilled until we are in His presence. It is in the Book.

Slowly dawned on me that this is a form of gospel and so very relatable. Yes part of it dips into being a romantic love song about a woman, but for the most part it strikes me as someone searching their life and exploring their faith and not finding that spiritual awakening.

Two memories come to mind. One, in the spanish Cies Islands, in the camping bar, listening to this tune when it came out in 87. Two, working as a night shift barman in a London hotel in 97, watching a customer coming in and thinking "¿why seems this guy so familiar?" As it turned out, HE WAS THE EDGE, with his classic hat, and right behind him came BONO & LARRY MULLEN. They spent the whole night at the bar & acted absolutely kind & humble.
