UB40 released "Here I Am (Come and Take Me)" in January 1990, as the second single from their ninth studio album, Labour of Love II.
The track is a cover version of the original Al Green composition, which was released in 1973. There have been several other reggae versions of the song by artists including Marcia Griffiths, Pluto Shervington, Owen Gray, and Inner Circle.
This official music video was directed by Jim Gable whose other notable work includes videos for the likes of Rolling Stones, Sting, AC/DC, John Fogarty and many more.

I grew up listening to UB40 because my mom was a huge reggae fan. Now fast-forward to 2022....we haven't spoken in 2 years but I just invited her to see their concert at the Hollywood Bowl. She said yes and I'm beyond excited to reconnect with my mother over music again. Thank you UB40 😫🥰🤩

I am 73 and I love Jamaican reggae music. UB40 captures the Jamaica vibes and I love the fact that they come from Birmingham and it’s a mixed band. I have 8 mixed race children & 8 mixed race grandchildren! They don’t all like reggae, but they respect the fact that I do. Sadly 2 members of UB40 passed away. RIP ❤🌈🇳🇴🇯🇲

This is UB40 with the proper lead singer anything else is not UB40 regardless of what other band members branched out. Labour of love II was my fav album from them and was a big album for me growing up superb

Just saw UB40 in Fort Hall Idaho, they sounded amazing!! Superb sound system, so clean. The new lead singer hits all the notes with the same style as the original. Yes it is great when original members stay together, but to have UB40 still living on 45 years later is a gift!

Saw them in Detroit in the late 80s and by far the best concert ever! Everybody was dancing throughout the entire show and yes the band was having the most fun of all!! UB40 forever!! ❤

I first heard this song sitting in the back of my dad's Totoyo Cressida back in in 1989...this song is my all time favorite childhood memory..back in the day when we had pen pals..when milk was delivered to your doorstep..when kids jumped rope in the street and on hot days cooled down with the hose pipe before taking a ride on our BMX bikes round the block..yes those were the days.

What I really like alot of this band is that each member plays a musical instrument so well that the sound of each instrument can be heard complementing each other in every beat of the song combined with the vocalist's voice which is so unique that it can leave a very deep impression that will be remembered forever.

Yes, it is Ali Campbell on vocals, I first heard his distinctive voice when collaborating with Pioneers, Madness, Special AKA and The Beat for the song Starvation in 1985 just after Band Aid but before Live Aid.

I won't lie, Duncan isn't a bad singer. Just not my style. And I felt the way you do... but honestly, it isn't Brian Travers on the saxophone, and it's not Norman's percussions. UB40 as a whole, each brought something to the table. (Watch Dance with the Devil, their short film. Brian Travers wrote it). Also watch Labour of Love, their first short film. They're all key members. And it's a shame that they don't perform together anymore, but I'm glad at least Ali performs in the states. Can't wait to see him July 29th with Astro and Mickey!!! I love Astro! And truth be told, if the other 5 UB40 members with Duncan came to the states, I would go see them too.

I’m going to give them a real bollocking! UB40 remain fantastic! They changed the world and now they’ve fallen out with one another and no longer create their music! Because of money , because of EGO! Stop being fools, forgive your differences, stay strong to the cause far greater than any individual one of you and start making the same magic again. Because what you gave as a group is far greater than being on your own, and more importantly denies the less talented among us, who have to work every day with the drudge of our existence the joy of being uplifted by your music!
