For me, king, is the best song of ub40. I don’t know why, but tears come every toe when I listen this song. I am French , I don’t understand the lyrics , but it looks like very powerful and emotional. Thank you ub40.

My fave UB tune by a mile and shows the band at their best (don't hear it often enough). First saw them perform this at B'ham university students' union back 1980/81 just before they hit the big time. Seen them 3 times live, they're amazing, KZfaq do you guys no justice.

old enough i saw them Brixton Academy London around this time ((early 80's) intimate venue they were so on point. shame we forgot its not about race but about power, UB40 was the name of the document you had to present if you were unemployed in the UK (Black and White both affected) . Poor disenfranchised black and white united. Some truth there that seems missing from the current dialogue

King, where are your people now? Chained and pacified. Tried in vain to show them how. And for that you died. You had a dream of a promised land. People of all nations walking hand in hand But they're not ready to accept That dream situation, yet.

These lyrics are truth! The world loves slavery/bondage more than freedom because freedom is the unknown, it requires sacrifice and very few people are willing to sacrifice themselves to obtain it. And so the world persecutes those who speak freedom, who stand up against slavery, evil and tyranny! Jesus, Malcolm X, Martin Luther (The man who fought the Catholic church to have the bible translated into a language common people could understand), Martin Luther King, Mandela, etc. etc. etc. The list goes on and on! "Chained and pacified"
