Mathew Blurton-Jones, PhD
Friday, December 4, 2020
11:00-11:30 AM PST
In this episode, Dr. Mathew Blurton-Jones, Assoc. Professor of Neurobiology & Behavior, will discuss the latest advances in stem cell research for Alzheimer's disease.
About the Speaker:
Dr. Blurton-Jones is an Associate Professor of Neurobiology & Behavior in the UCI School of Biological Sciences, and he leads the induced pluripotent stem cell core of the UCI Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center. He received his PhD in Neuroscience from UC San Diego. The primary focus of his research is to examine the underlying molecular mechanisms that drive the development of Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease, the two most common forms of dementia. His lab uses patient-derived induced pluripotent stem cells to study the role of neural and immune cell populations in these disorders.
