She is with us all of a sudden 3 weeks ago because she got evicted and the sons realized she has dementia.

My 96 yo MIL is doing this, constantly talking about going home. She’s in an assisted living facility and has twice cut-off her wrist alarm. We’re moving her to the facility’s memory care unit which is more secure.

In the UK, ‘wandering’ is seemed as a negative and insulting word. The phrase ‘walking with purpose’ is a lot more suitable, because the individual has a purpose to walk to the desired destination - for example the gentlemen wanted to go home. He has a purpose to walk out the door and go ‘home’

What do you do if you find someone wandering outside with Alzheimers? It happened to me once. I thankfully got the lady to a nearby elderly home so they could see to it that she was safe while they found where she came from. But even today I feel bad because she said she was going home (and her bag had just a few childs necklaces in it and no kind of id) I told her we were going home and gently lead her to the elderly home. I am not sure it was right but I was so worried about her. She wasn't dressed for the weather and I didn't know her.

My mother is 95 years old. She loves the money too much till caused her mad with money and lead to have alergy ( coughing, itching and back pain) . I told her if she doesn’t avoid that money I will not taking care her anymore. She is so angry /afraid that I will not care with her anymore. But I still have to. I am so stressed!! Please help me. Believe me NOTHING is as easy as all these vids make it seem. And you think it's hard taking care of your OWN mom and dad? At least with our own parents we can relate and empathize and we have a bond with so we would do anything for them. But the moment you have to care for someone else, like a MOTHER IN LAW, oh believe me, you won't have that much patience or even empathy especially if all that old bitch does is aggravating you and your loved ones all fucking day long. When she starts pacing back and forth and shadowing you and mumbling nonsense all the time, sometimes continuously from 3.30pm to 7pm, she keeps going on and on and on .and what do I do that is the most effective way. I lock her up. Tired of her bullshit. I really don't give a shit. Lock her old stinky ass up and finally get some peace. She can die in there for all I care. Would actually be a whole lot better for everybody. and after several hours I will check on her. Left her huff and puff and talk nonsense to herself and enjoy her own nonsense by herself for a few hrs. Exhaust herself out with her own nonsense. That way when I medicate her she falls asleep like a death sleep. Believe me, barracading and locking them up is the only thing that works. I bet I will get backlash but I really don't care because she's not my mom and I really can't relate to someone else's mom who is just 100% trouble. Nothing nice or good about her. She is a total hoarder, her room looks like a dumpster , she is extremely lazy, won't even pick up a piece of item that has fallen and blocked the walkway but would rather just walk over it. Eats eats eats like a pig thats all she knows. Eats all kinds of junk food soda, cakes, pastries, pasta, ice cream, absolutely refuses to eat ANY vegetable or fruit. Extremely lazy and greedy and has an annoying temper , hitting things with her walking cane, walks very fast and well but is too lazy and acts weak because she just wants to lean her weight on a cane. You should see how fast she can run when she needs to go to the bathroom or hears someone open a fizzy soda. Doesn't wash a single dish, doesn't do a single chore. Constantly irritates her son evrryday blabbering nonsense for hours and hours, and this is when he just comes home from work all tired. Just nothing nice about this lazy greedy selfish old witch. Just needs to be locked away and starved to death. Fucking old witch.
