After watching these electrifiying 90 minutes of basketball, I feel the need to write something down. The last couple possessions in the Overtime I got literally water in my eyes. When Paige hit that last three point shot, i was just shaking my head, tears running down. I wondered where that was coming from, because I usually get so emotional only on really sad or just really touching films. And so I realized what I was watching was in fact a narrative, the Paige Bueckers story in the making. By watching that overtime I realized what was happening already throughout the last uconn games, or even the whole time: Paige Bueckers is DESTINED to become great, to become maybe even the best female player of all time in this game of basketball. Yes, I pretty much didn't know anything about women's basketball before, but I really felt that the future is hers, right there in that overtime. It's the same all over again when watching the game of thrones scene where everyone shouted "Missa!" towards Daenerys and I got water in my eyes because in this particular moment I realized that she is destined to become the queen of westeros. Yeah I know, weird take to make (and btw we all remember how HBO fucked up in the last season) but it felt the exact same way for me. A young woman that's destined to be great at what she's doing. And it's great to see that although her journey has just begun, she's already at the right track to greatness from the start. Chapeau Paige Bueckers, as long as you embody the love for the game we all enjoy, nobody will stop you.

That foul on Griffin at 6:28 in the 4th quarter was complete BS. Boston was completely out of control, threw a hard elbow and should have fouled out.
@Bitshitter4 ай бұрын
Watched this game again, and had no different of a perspective coming away from it than the first time live I watched the game as it happened: CT was fouling all game long, with illegal moving screens. The refs called a number of them, but let a large number go un-called. The final 2 shot attempts by Boston at the end of regulation, Edwards was ALL OVER Boston's arms as she was shooting both times. There should have been a call on each of them on Edwards, giving South Carolina a chance to win the game at the free throw line. This game never should have gone to overtime. I think the officiating is starting to slowly come around on all the fouling that Connecticut does to give them advantages in games. In each of the last 4 games, CT was called for far more fouls than South Carolina has been. This used to be unheard of during CT's time at the top of the mountain, even though they deserved being called more often. Perhaps the inept officiating in WCBB is slowly improving. Who knows......

Why are some SC fans complaining about the final possession of regulation? Hasn't SC has been the beneficiary of numerous "in the paint" fouls when their players would bully their way under the basket due to just sheer size/mass difference? This goes back to at least the Alaina Coates years. Before complaining about the refs, review some of Carolina's stats from this game: 25 of 68 feild goals 1 of 9 three pointers 8 of 15 free throws 21 turnovers, and only 7 assists. No one in their right might would expect to win a game like that. Stop blaming the refs as it went both ways.

I was waiting all year last year, which was supposedly her off year but she’s been just as inconsistent and absent this season... frustrating when she had that first game her freshman year vs notre dame that was incredible, indicating she was going to live up to her potential and she’s just been nowhere near that level in her recent play. The moment Nika went out of the game in the 2nd quarter, their plays became unhinged. A shot clock violation the first play without Nika. The rest of the 2nd quarter were all broken plays. Finally, if Nika was in the game, that last heave would have not been possible. She is a pure point guard and a reliable defender. Her impact in the game cannot be measure by statistics. I know nowadays everything is by the number. But with players like Nika, a team might be losing something big if that is always the case. Coach Geno definitely sees this, hence her starting positon.

Aaliyah Boston's basket with 2 minutes 40 seconds remaining in overtime, should not have counted for 2 reasons. First, she shoved Aaliyah Edwards to the ground and should have ben assessed her 5th foul of the game and ejected. Second from one hour 22 minutes and 12 seconds in the video, or with 2 minutes 47 seconds remaining in overtime, Boston was standing in the 3 second violation lane for 6 seconds. She finally took her shot with 2 minutes 41 seconds remaining, a 6 second span which should have been called a 3 second violation. The loose ball had no effect on the violation rule since South Carolina kept possession and NCAA rules do not restart the 3 seconds when there is a loose ball which does not change which team is in possession. Let these young women play ball - ok. Ignore 3 second and 30 second violations and right after Boston's basket which should not have counted, Westbrook was hit when she attempted a 3 point shot which referees let these young women play ball and ignored the obvious foul and 3 free throws.

23:42 - "that was well executed...." of an illegal moving screen. Connecticut's motion offense requires constant illegal moving screens in order to be at its most effective, and they execute such illegal moving screens multiple times in every. Game. They. Play. Every season. And it requires the officiating for collegiate women's basketball to be as inept as it has always been for the sport. And its become such a constant in their games that it seems the officials think its within the rules, so they hardly ever call them. In this "well executed" play, Edwards clearly leans her hip and body to the right to screen Destiny Littleton off of Bueckers, to either open her up for a jump shot, or open a teammates up indirectly as a 2nd Gamecock defender has to give help for Littleton, which creates a mismatch somewhere else. It's not mastercraft offensive scheming at all - it's a reliance on the incompetence in WBB officiating that doesn't exist for MBB officiating, which understands what illegal screens are and calls them far more effectively. And Luigi has ridden that incompetence to eleven national titles......

Monica McNutt is a terrible commentator, completely biased toward South Carolina. I hope they get someone not so stupid for the future. When Aliyah Boston took a three point shot and said if she made it she would walk out of the stadium it would of been the greatest thing she has ever seen or the reason Paige is so good might be because of home cooking, I had to turn it off it was so condescending.
