Stress is just something you create on your own if you fight against circumstances because you believe that they are wrong. Physical exercise, education and healthy eating (vitamins, minerals) wont prevent stress, you are just able to deal with the pain for longer.

@@lisacurtis8162 The comment you replied to is a perfect example of why these issues can never be fully addressed and resolved. Unfortunately, too often, people who survived the type of abuse you described are gaslight into believing that somehow it was either their fault or that it's their responsibility to "get over it". The ongoing minimization of adverse childhood experiences is appalling. You are a human in progress. Keep progressing in love.💗

@@rickmoss6421 Thank you so much. I'm so tired of hearing "get over it" and " you are as happy as you want to be." It's not true for alot of people who carry sadness and other negative emotions with them all the time and can't seem to get a breakthrough. One thing good came out of the hell childhood that I survived. I really care about other suffering people. It sounds like you care too

Because the human ability to retain any specific information consciously at any given time is vastly inadequate at comprehending the complexities involved. So, not that it is too complicated to explain to us, but rather that it is far too complicated for us to comprehend consciously within the moment and we are being reminded of this so as to try and encourage us to "keep an open mind" and absorb the information being given to us without making a judgement based upon a narrow understanding.

In terms of connecting the mind and body in health I found during my psych training psychiatrists completely distanced themselves from medical issues, and vice versus with internists. So for PNI to work robustly each group must be very knowledgeable about the other side.

It is not necessary to have preexisting heart problems in order to have a heart attack from stress or grief. There is a condition, that is becoming more well known in medicine, called Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy or Sress-Induced Cardiomyopathy and, in layman's terminology, Broken Heart Syndrome. Medical Doctors have discovered that there are many people who have all the identical symptoms of a heart diseased patient, however, there is nothing wrong with their arteries (no clots/plaque). The only things that separate them from patients who have issues with Heart Disease (past or present), is that they have/are experiencing a high amount of stress, anxiety, grief or trauma, and unlike the Heart patient, their heart has literally ballooned and is struggling to pump, due to the ballooning, which is also causing a Heart arrhythmia.

It was a great talk, and I have to mention that high chronic stress lowers the activity of natural-killer cells, responsible for destroying cancer cells among other things. A study of women who had undergone treatment for breast cancer showed that those who engaged in a stress-management program of meditation had a significantly reduced chance of recurrence.

I love this kind of stuff .. wish I had become a therapist but didn't have money to go to University ivè have often seen people who are sicker and more unhappy because of stress in their lives. But learning mindfulness and leaning to thank God for my blessings while I'm under stress especially With chronic pain and the amount of stress I have in my life, seems to be quite helpful traendlessly.. Things like echo sink listening to both sides of the brain stimulated and Knowing that the physical pain in my body will not damaged me. Learning how to let it happen to embracenot fight it helps a lot. Focusing on the solution and only identifying the problem, made a huge difference in my life so many folks dwell on the problem...depending on God rather than ppl ,trusting him, & remembering everything's temporary helps...music playing with kitties. Being grateful for what I have instead of what I don't have And music. Being gone everyday to help me and everything I think say and do and he does

Love the info - thank you. Going forward, could you sharpen the focus on the slides for those of us who catch them on the web? Many of your offering feature slides too fuzzy to read online (even full screen), and the camera operator shifts back to the speaker far too quickly for us to compensate (or read at all, even if they had been perfectly clear). THANKS!

Why the constant references to "complexity" by academics who lecture or write on the subject of emotion.? Do they mean it is too complex to explain to us or that, as they so often say of many medical conditions, emotions are "poorly understood" phenomena.? I see nothing new here - no specific definition of the term emotion is offered We are just asked to accept that there are categories and types of emotion ( varies from one theorist to another) which are functions of our genetic endowment.

My 3.5 years old son regressed into autism last year and his lab test shows he has a very high bacteria called HPHPA. How do I get rid of this? He talked and was like any normal 3 years old then he started changing in his behaviors for 6 months then after two weeks he lost his language skills. Completely a different boy, screaming, pushing and hitting. He is sleeping away

vp8998 you are outdated. Years ago many of your criticisms of psychology and especially psychiatry had a lot if truth to it. Now mind body medicine and our recent knowledge have changed psychology into a discipline that is much more of a science. Forget a negativity and try to learn using recent developments in the field, such as what is in this video.

If you see the world beautful lucious and peaceful.thats what you are going to recieve. But if you want destruction and death.thats what you will recieve of course. Its common sense but i guess it takes scientist and people with degrees to get the public to listen=0P Namaste

Complexity is an excuse for the reality that academics can not define emotion because they have fallen in to the same trap as their predecessors in accepting a simplistic assumption that various discrete "emotions" exist when, in fact , the subjective experiences for which "emotion words" are applied mostly refer to sensations ,attitudes ,stresses ,and excitement and behavior. induced by experiencing emotion. It has nothing to do with retention of information.
